Our next trip is going to be in November/December, so that's going to be fun... ;)
Luckily, we should be onsite for a night so we could go back to the room to get changed (if they're even open).
We were at Universal last Thanksgiving and Dudley & Bluto were empty as well. But it was the coldest I've ever seen, colder than our March visit, so not surprising really.

Last July, on the other hand, ...:D

Yeah, I was thinking about the rest of Toon Lagoon, and, although getting your picture taken in the various places (Marmaduke, speech bubbles in the air) are fun, it wouldn't bother me too much if they rethemed the entire area.

However, the removal of those two rides would not be good. But, it doesn't really seem that Universal care what fans think (Kongfrontation, BTTF, Jaws), so why wouldn't they remove Popeye/Dudley, in the pursuit of something "better"?

It's not like the theming on those two rides is particularly anything special (especially Dudley), paint the rockwork a more realistic colour, and swapping out the figurines could be a good start...

I'd love for them to replace those cheap, seasonal rides with something that looks appealing and can soak up capacity in a small park year round.

Thinking out loud here, but with the new Popeye movie coming out in a couple of years, I wonder if they would redo the area around Blutos and just make it its own contained land with some more Popeye theming. That would certainly allow them to tear down the rest of toon lagoon for something.

Poseidon's Fury was a jaw dropper for me. I had no idea what it was other than a walkthrough, and as it progressed I got further and further into disbelief. Some neat effects like the water tunnel, but holy crap - what a bizarro clusterfluff. No one in my party had words afterward for some time.
I read your words, but I don't understand what you're trying to convey. Did you like it or did you think it was a waste of time. Seriously, I am unable to tell from your post. The first sentence sounded like you were amazed (as was I, by the way), but then it sounded like you thought it was weird/bizarre.

I thought it was weird, bizarre and absolutely terrible. Misfire from beginning to end. Our hardworking live actor guide was charming and funny, but that couldn't save the mess we were subjected to. The finale scene was mind-numbingly bad. Such a shame - the facade is TDS level beautiful.

EDIT: Everyone in the stupidly long queue thought they were in line for a ride. The looks of confusion as the "experience" progressed were priceless.

Although I am not Lee, I will say that it is nice and well done, but small. And NOTHING in G'burg/Pigeon Forge is worth the price except for Dollywood. But that is the nature of "The Tourist Trap in the Hills". It is the mountain version of Myrtle Beach.

Best part of that area has nothing to do with Dollywood or other tourist traps....driving through Cades Cove is the best (part of the Smoky Mtns Nat'l Forest). You are forced to just slow down, take your time and appreciate the natural beauty around you. We went to the aquarium (pretty nice), a couple of other Ripley's attractions (we all liked the car museum), and in PF we went to the Titanic museum, and a little gem mining place, which we all enjoyed. I don't know that I want to go back unless is just to get a cabin in the mountains and just RELAX.

Sure, but can you pass up the building with King Kong climbing up the side. That caught my attention. I think it's a wax museum, but when I was there last December I didn't have time to check it out.

Yes, it's completely skippable - trust me on that. We got some good pictures in there, but the ticket counter is right next to the gift shop area and you couldn't tell where one line began and the other ended. I was heading into full-blown claustrophobia before I got out of there. I don't think it justified the ticket price IMO.

Good God. Why would they make another Popeye movie? I mean the cartoons are fun but there are few properties Id like less to see a remake live action version of than Popeye. Animated... Yeah, no not even that, lol.

I don't ride Hulk, Dragon Challenge, any of the Suess stuff, the rest of Marvel and HP, or the water rides, so it's an in and out park for me.

So you see Sindbad, and then you leave? Because that is the only attraction not included in this list of things at IOA you won't do.

I love Sindbad, it's one of my favorite shows in Orlando, but I really don't think it's worth the price of admission to the park just to see that one show.

EDIT: Never mind, I just saw your original post where you said you do Spider-man and HPFJ. Carry on.

Genndy Tartakovsky is directing it at Sony Animation. So if someone has to do this, I'm glad it's him.

I don't get the hate on Poseidon.. I think its a cool attraction in both scale and technical nature. I think Disney fans are just spoiled by F!'s water screens.

Poseidon is a great blend of physical effects, lighting, stage effects, and some technical mastery (water tunnel, etc).

Darkanon. All of Greek mythology and they come up with a cheesy villain, with a cheesy name in a cheesy costume. The villains in Lost Continent remind me of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
