Most likely because they live in this world called reality, and that place has an economic climate that was destroyed back in the early 2000's by a certain political party, and continues today, by that same political party who are the equivalent of spoiled children... (Actually, over 90% of them are attorney's who've never owned a business in their life acting like free market experts, you know, like certain people in this thread.)

To answer your question, because pensions are involved, and an uncertain job market, and thirdly, because they aren't going to let the monsters step on them. And, again, there's a reason why they exist, because American workers have had a long history of being abused, much like the outsourced workers are today. A sweat shop in India is the picture those mean old horrible unions want to try to prevent. Ridiculous!

Unions can be improved, and need to be, but they won't be by a bunch of free market, 1% wannabes and pretenders.

But it is cute seeing all the "expertise" on this board and free market supporters basically saying growth and growing your product is a useless prospect and won't work when it was the very thing that a certain mustached man did almost a century ago, and who these same people worship. It's cute, please, continue...

FYI, Tim... Calling America an "entitlement mentality"... Yeah, the rest of the civilized world who have REAL entitlements just laughed at you.
I almost stopped reading your post after your first point of blaming everything on one political party. I did stop reading your post because you think most attorneys in America belong to the republican party.

I can't take anything seriously after that. Sorry.

It's not raising revenue for free, dude, it's manipulated, like firing employees, cutting corners, costs, raising prices, like most things your heros do to inflate numbers. They are still spending money. It's not free, it's not progress and there's always a downside, because you can only do it so often.

What would Walt do? Probably what Universal is doing... Strengthening and making their product better. By going BIG not staying home. That's probably what he'd do. Oh, and fire Iger.
You know Iger is a big supporter of your buddy Barack right?

Like Greece or Spain? America does have an entitlement mentality. Have you visited WDW lately? Its displayed quite often. To compare todays " undocumented" workers to what was taking place at the turn of the century is not even close to reality. A entitlement mentality is to expect someone else to provide you with a "comfortable" life. Someone please point me to this in the constitution. Six figure salaries, four weeks vacations and pensions are not a human right.

That's okay, because I never took you seriously.

And I believe you were the one who brought up specific political parties, which I responded to. I'm not a democrat, though I do lean liberal. And I didn't say 90% of attorneys were Republian, but 90% of elected Republicans are attorneys. Way to read that slanted, slick.

If Barack's my buddy the where the hell was my white house invite?

PS. I don't care what political party Bob is a member of. He's still a tool.

It was a lengthy response for not taking me seriously. But I'm glad we've reached a mutual understanding. Let's try not to lose any sleep over it. Enjoy the rest of your evening. The last word is all yours...

Are you really trying to say that Greece's sole problem was entitlements? It's not the fact... you know, they committed fraud, lied to the EU and horribly mismanged their government?

And ami I really supposed to judge America's entitlement mentlity on a WDW trip? Gee, what about Corporate entitlement mentality... They actually run everything, and begrudge anyone else receiving anything.

According to some no one has any human right except breathing. Again, there's a reason we have entitlements, and the politicans have screwed them up, not the people, for their own self serving reasons. They actually work very wel, you know, according to facts, and not some random dudes opinion.

And please show me where all these people are being given six figure salaries, four weeks vacations and pensions that dont deserve them. I'll wait...

I'm going to get out of the politics vacuum I got sucked up in and I'm going to talk about something that is never talked about on this board.

Why on earth did they replace Horizons with Mission:SPACE????

Why on earth did they replace Horizons with MIssion:SPACE????

Probably because they felt that EPCOT needed a thrill ride, and Horizons was expensive to maintain, especially after GE pulled their sponsorship.

Classic spirited post.

300 pages of angst about how Disney never does anything new and now an out of the blue complaint about an update they DID make, albeit years ago.

To point this in a direction that's perhaps more productive:

Rather than dwelling on the wisdom of replacing Horizons with Mission:Space, how could the pavilion be improved to better fit the mission of EPCOT Center? Would more robust post-show exhibits be enough? Could improvements be made to the ride itself? Or should everything behind the (beautiful) facade be trashed and be replaced with a real "pavilion" rather than a single thrill ride?

Do pavilions with one ride and a gift shop "work" as far as Future World is concerned, or would you prefer multiple smaller experiences housed in the same pavilion?

For my part, an ideal "Space Pavilion" to me would keep the same facade but have a building that houses a planetarium show and a state-of-the-art dark ride on the history & future of space travel.

It's a fair point - and I actually like Mission: Space for what it is, even though I'm not a fan of simulators and hope to see fewer rides with screens (yes, I know the opposite will almost certainly be true).

However, wasn't the so-called "luxury of space" supposed to allow them to build and expand, rather than having to close one attraction in order to build another?
