I contend WDW got pushed back once Shanghai got approved. I have no problem with that. By delaying WDW could get some much better tech. Just look at the amazing new add at HKDL. From robotics to lighting to projections, just mind-boggling progress.
Depends on the calibre of what's decided to be built. And allocated budget. Cheap refurbs, makeovers and the odd D aren't enough year in, year out.

To get back on topic, what's everyone looking more forward to? Antarctica, transformers or MK open 24 hours? One of these 3 is not like the others.

For me personally it's Antarctica. I could watch those little guys all day long when it was just a simple exhibit. Now, more penguins and a whole new ride system. The videos and concept art I've seen look amazing. I'm sure Transformers will be pretty solid too. Meanwhile over at MK they will be keeping the park open 24hrs...again. If they keep doing this once a year doesn't the novelty wear off eventually? I thought the big draw was it was a once in a lifetime type thing.

Is anyone who is local planning to do all 3 in the same day? Assuming Transformers opens the same weekend (which I think is only a rumor at this point).
OMG! So much more excited about Antarctica!!

Like you, I went and stood in the back to watch the penguins. They are amazing and fascinating. In fact, the more I read about penguins, the more interesting they become. I can't wait to see this. Really can't.

I will wait until the hoopla over transformers dies down before doing that, whenever it opens.

The MK is staying open. Big deal. It's almost sad how they're trying to make May 24 about them...but the "All Disney and Only Disney!" people will care, so there is some audience for that.

Looking at it like a company is a person, if you take $100.00 out of your right pocket and put it in your left pocket...have you lost any of that money? If a company exaggerates the switches and on paper says that they transferred $110.00 does that make it any different? You started out with $100.00 and you still have $100.00 just in a different location. Does that have an effect on specific cost centers? Yes, it does. Has it altered, in anyway, the bottom line, company wise? Nope! Still have the $100.00 that they started with.

But if you evaluate 'do I really need a right pocket' - and see that the right pocket always has less money then the left.. you may decide to switch to only having one pocket.. since it's cheaper to only have one pocket then two.

It takes a corporate mentality of 'cost of business' to not measure each and every department on a PNL - and unfortunately the bigger the company gets.. the further they get from 'smart spending' and focus too much on fluffy internal accounting metrics which ultimately derail the thing.

Haha:). You are technically probably correct. An intercompany transaction is between two seperate legal entities that are subsidiaries of the same parent company while an intracompany transaction is between two departments or divisions of the same legal entity. If the marketing department giving away the rooms and the hotel are both departments under the same legal entity then it would technically be intracompany. I have no clue if that's the case or not. In my experience, in practice most people use the term intercompany for both intracompany and intercompany transactions, but you are correct that there is a technical difference.

We refer to ours as affliate transactions. But every company sets up its own rules within a GAAP framework. So it is hard to compare your individual experiences, let alone judge TWDC on you individual experiences.

Just saw the projections for summer relases by Box Office Mojo. They figure $1 billion worldwide for Iron Man 3, but a weak $135 milllion domestic total for Lone Ranger ($405 million Worldwide):

Yeah. I expect Ironman to be big. Here's to hoping it is better than the second one.

Doesn't surprise me at all about Lone Ranger (though I do have a father who is dying to see it.). It's obviously not a well known property, especially to younger generations and Armie Hammer isn't exactly a draw. Can you imagine the projections if the movie didn't have Johnny Depp? I'm guessing they would be lower. I hope it does well though. At least it's something "new" in the sense that as mentioned before, it is a property not well known to younger generations. I have seen people worried it is going to be another "Wild Wild West," haha. God, I hope not... ;)

Random and not Disney but I'm most looking forward to Star Trek.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but I'm not ready to write Lone Ranger off so quickly. I think its success will largely hinge on reviews and word of mouth, much like the first Pirates.

In terms of marketing, Disney has been treating it as if expectations are high. (I suppose it could conversely be said that marketing is being used to prop up the movie.)

I am not a fan of westerns so Lone Ranger doesn't really appeal to me at all! I do not know anyone who is really dying to see the film...don't really know how well it will do but I don't think it'll be the blockbuster Disney is expecting it to be...

Transformers from what I heard is scheduled to open June 20th (front cm that works on that attraction told a micechat member bout this) with soft openings starting in the next couple of weeks extending into MD weekend. While I believe Transformers will be a state of the art attraction, I'm with you in that Antarctica would be the one I'd look forward to the most and check out first. I love Penguins and the ride (Empire of the Penguin) and ride system looks awesome. This land I believe will put the park in good standing down the long term. If I were a local, I'd do all 3 over that weekend.

Edit: Saw the most recent trailer of Lone Ranger (the one on Yahoo Movies and was used at CinemaCon) and it looks good. I think it has the chance to bring in some decent numbers.

Looks pretty good from the previews. It will have to be a "word of mouth" movie....
