It refers to people who have moved to O-Town to live in the parks and have set up Disney-related business ventures (blogs, podcasts, websites, travel agencies etc) ... basically, their whole lives revolve around Disney in what many psych specialists might suggest isn't ... normal or healthy.

SEE: Jeff Lange stalking Scrooge McDuck in his latest Yotube video or Jeff Lange filming everything possibly new that occurs almost every week at Walt Disney World.

I wish I could make money and get attention by putting WDW on Youtube and SELLING it on DVD.

Whether or not this is being addressed right now by Burbank, I strongly believe that NextGEN and TragicBand will eventually become available for on property resort guests only.

For the analytic parts of this to work, they need everyone (or nearly everyone) to participate. One of the common points in these discussions is that this isn't any different than the KTTW cards: from the analytics standpoint, tho, the population of customers with KTTW cards isn't a statistically valid representation of guests across the property. KTTW cardholders are all onsite guests, who likely have a higher income than the guest population as a whole. Studying only that group would skew the results.

They understand that some people will opt out, and some will pay for things with cash, so the model won't be totally complete. It'll still have a lot more detail than before.

well, Jeff is obviously much more talented and a savvier businessman than you are ... it's OK, you probably contribute far more to society.

Exactly! Pedophiles are always the Cub Scout leader, the little league coach, the teacher, or the Priest etc. They do whatever they can to surround themselves with children. To work at WDW is a pedophiles dream. Why do you think Michael Jackson built Neverland??? (I know I'm going to get a lot from that comment).

I'm now way, way behind on this thread, but felt that I had to respond to this comment. Most children who are molested are molested by family members or close family friends, not by Scout leaders, coaches, teachers, or priests.

The premise of the piece is not about opting out of RFID - but of not being able to opt out of being a token to be marketed and sold ( including 3rd parties) as the premise as the way to fund the concept. It makes assertions that because that is the business plan, there must be no way to opt out. Yet we know from repeated sources you CAN exclude yourself from having your personal data sold/shared.

You can opt out, to the exact degree required by various privacy laws, just like you can opt out of most places that track this data. All of the companies involved are betting (correctly) that a statistically insignificant number of customers will actually figure out how and follow through.

• The MagicBand is initially available to select Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests and guests who purchase other specific products. Other guests will be able to use their standard ticket to access the benefits of MyMagic+, such as making FastPass+ selections on My Disney Experience.

So does this mean that if I stay off property I can avoid this whole tragic band? Also, it says that the tragic band is available to guests who purchase other specific products. What products are they talking about? If these questions have already been answered i apologize I have not seen them anywhere.

Oh, if by not allowing TWDC to track/datamine you are provided with a profoundly limited and inferior product while paying the same price as everyone else, how is this not requiring everyone to agree to their terms?

An option is only an option if real choice exists. If someone puts a gun to your head and demands something, then you still have a choice, right?

I'm tired of semantics made for PR and legal circles and designed to appease people who are not deep thinkers.

Your offering do not change if you chose to not allow your data to be shared - just like they haven't up till now if you opt out of marketing.

You are taking half truths and misapplying them. Same thing i said when thou posted the thing initially and since tyhe n we've gotten more info further confirming my belief.

I honestly think its out of misunderstanding what you have in front of you.

If you were not running scared of the mouses powers over you before... There is little new here to fear as an individual

Disney Lifestylers are Walt Disney World locals. They're sick and deserve derision. Disneyland locals, on the other hand, are regulars and deserve praise for squealing over generic hot food bags. Don't confuse the two!
Welcome-I look forward to hearing your perspective on the boards.

True - but that is immaterial to the issue under discussion. which was yhe assertion that Disney is going to data mine you and sell the data as the premise to pay for it all AND you can't opt out of it. And then they were going to do it with the children too... And how it all is gonna violate coppa... Etc

I know the reasoning behind what is opt in vs out and motivations...

Also for your earlier post - they don't need everyone ORT even a majority - what they need is a good that equally represents the target group. If it matcvhs well, then they can extrapolate. Its when the sample does not represent the whole group well that they get in trouble. So they need the divertsity and just a large enough sample to flatten anonomolies

You must be wetting yourself with anticipation (or a full bladder) over those new fangled Tangled restrooms opening soon!!!:D

That is the big "new" attraction this year at WDW, right? Well, that and Datamining Mountain.

So much excitement, how will I ever hold off getting an AP?!

I can't imagine what Universal execs are thinking while they watch this MyMagic+ mess...
