Space Mountain/Tomorrowland Transit Authority update...

I like it.

I think it provides nice counterpoint to all the concrete and hard edges in the area. Plus, tomorrowland needs all the shade it can get.

I would have liked a fountain also, but they could have just as easily covered the whole area in plain grey concrete and called it a day.

Now which would have been worse?

I will check it out when I get there in 5 weeks.:xmas:

See, and I think thats the problem with people on this board. The glass is always half empty. There is always going to be a better option, ALWAYS! What if they had actually fixed the skyway instead of tearing it down? Or if they are tearing it down, how about expanding the area and putting in a new dark ride? Or keep the bathroom and put a nice sitting area on top of it. Instead of a planter, make it a fountain. Instead of nothing at all, atleast put a planter in to give the area more shade. Where does it end is my question?

Here's a quick update on Space Mountain.

They were doing E-Stop testing inside the mountain and at one point had the lights off and effects working. The effects from what I saw did look a bit better than before, but not really a drastic improvement.

Also, I don't know if this has been covered or not, but the circle has been revealed to be a planter and has plants in it.

The area needs more greenery in it. A fountain upon concrete would have been far too stark. I say even more trees would be nice. Perhaps put trees throughout the plaza that have iron grates over the area they are growing in, somewhat similar to some city streets, with lights beneath lighting them up.

THEN.... the centerpiece of it all could be a water fountain. But to have a water fountain in the middle of a bunch of concrete wouldn't look right. At least in my opinion. And even if we had gotten a fountain, I still somehow get the feeling people would start complaining of the chlorine smell permeating the land, and wet kids all over the place... like what happened with the Cosmic Waves at Disneyland.

Thanks for the update ... and yes, Plantergate has been covered ad nauseum.

So is the fastpass return digital or not? Doesn't look like it from those recent pictures. :brick:

Exactly! Thats the real issue here (because my expectations are high for this one and I want...no no, I EXPECT a DIGITAL return clock and if it turns out its just another analog clock then its bad show on TDO and they should be ashamed of themselves because they can do better and not having and LED return time sign will be a perfect metaphor for how awful this refurb has been and how corners have been cut and now Tomorrowland is just a mess and now I don't want this new change because I want my analog clock back because I have fond memories of watching those hands slowly inch around while waiting for my time to show up even though it was old and outdated and so no one at WDI truly cared about doing the best that could possibly have been done on this refurb project because if they did they would have put an LED sign in and theres no arguing that because its correct.)

:lookaroun

But I digress. Its only a clock, so if it doesn't happen, its not that big of a deal... :o

Win, my friend.

Seriously. I want lights, and a clean Mountain, seeing that the inside is staying ROUGHLY the same.

AT LEAST....

I am just happy it SM will be open for my family and I for our Dec 4th -10th Christmas Trip. I am not going to let a tree and some shrubbery to ruin our experience. I think the planter and new concrete is a nice fresh look to the area. I have a feeling we will see another SM refurbishment coming down the line, possibly after the Fanasty Land remodel.
