Space Mountain/Tomorrowland Transit Authority update...

And I've made no illusions of hiding my desire for a Cult of Tom Servo worshippers.

Say what you will, it's still on the life test (Along with the Doug Live question) ...Better Buzz, WAY better Space Mountain, STAR TOURS, The best Autopia ever, Monorails flying through it, a densely forested countryside, rich landscaping, A SUBMARINE VOYAGE, AND it's got the freakin' Matterhorn behind it. Whadda we got? Bupkis! Even without the peoplemover, you can stand in ONE SPOT and see FOUR moving attractions: Submarines, Bobsleds, Autopia Cars, and Monorails. Even without a Peoplemover it's still MUCH more "a world on the move" than ours.

I have no idea who Tom Servo is but now that I see a reference to your username I'm curious. :D

I'm so not the person to do the whole DL vs. WDW thing since I've never been to DL, only read about it & seen pics. Reading your list of stuff DL has in their Tomorrowland vs. WDW's version I was thinking that for the most part WDW does have something either similar or to offset everything on the list. ((The submarine thing...eh...can't argue too much about that although WDW has boats all over for transportation & recreation whereas DL doesn't but they're just not as cool as a submarine. :D)) It's hard to compare circles to squares, tho. WDW has all those things you listed just not all squashed up into one land. They're spread out amongst different parks and a heckuva lot more acreage. JMHO

First of all:

Tom Servo is a Bot from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Science_Theater_3000

Second of all, that'd be true if all the other lands in Disneyland weren't also brimming with attractions better than ours.
And I also don't like to fight DL Vs. WDW too much, but there's just nothing to this idea that we have a better Tomorrowland...

At MOST I'll give you guys that they could both get along reasonably well at an informal party, where WDW's Tomorrowland thought Disneyland's wasn't coming, but showed up at the last minute anyways. WDW's Tomorrowland was kind of ticked off about this, but since he's been having a tough time lately decided to stay to try and work up the courage to talk to Disneyland Paris' Tomorrowland. CUT to about two pineapple daiquiri's and twenty Hot Pockets later, they all kind of hit it off when Disneyland's starts to tell the story behind the whole Rocket Rod debacle, and WDW's Tomorrowland starts dishing on how HE knew Rocket Rod's dad, and all three Tomorrowlands shared some laughs at the expense of Test Track, and end up on fairly friendly terms when Disneyland's offers to have WDW's laugh floor over to stay for awhile while WDW Tomorrowland get's back on it's feet, and while WDW's Tomorrowland saw this as Disneyland's Tommorowland typical swinging-bachelor-one-upsmanship and was trying to impress the lady Tomorrowland as well, he figured he'd let it slide since he thinks he's finally getting somewhere with DLP's Tomorrowland. They could get along well enough that they'd end up at Big Kahuna Burger at like 3AM talking about weather Fantasyland is a chick or a dude.

TDL's Tomorrowland did not show up to the party, as he is a notorious shut-in.

Not talking about the color scheme(that a matter of taste) but the dead wedway platform/track, rust stains/dirt streaks on almost all buildings, space mountain was dirty, sloppy painting. The rest of the park was really nice though.
Here is DL's Space Mountain at it's worst.

Nobody's ever been on my side, so I'm used too it.

And you forgot "Makes Obscure Refrences, Lives a Shuttered and lonely life, and watch MST3K."

And I've made no illusions of hiding my desire for a Cult of Tom Servo worshippers.

Well I already make obscure references and watch MST3K so I'm not so far from you Servo (although I'm more of a Crow man myself), it's just that I don't completely share your views on Tomorrowland.

I've heard a lot of terrible things about Paris'.

Discoveryland at Disneyland Paris totally blew me away, what an inspired place! Just breathtaking.

How about this though: all Tomorrowlands, though not created equal, are exciting, dynamic places that have brought joy to millions of people both young and old.

they must pressure wash it or repaint it every week...unlike ours shen they do it every 10 years :brick:

I was not trying to kick off the ours -vs- theirs debate. It was just a First time DL visitors observations. More of a comparison of DL TL with the rest of Disneyland. Now that I think about it, it rained lightly on three of the 5 dyas we were in Anaheim so the dirt I saw was possibly just streaked dust that would be washed away in a heavier rain?

Now back to WDW.... Any new pictures/video of what is happening in and around SM

It's a generator light poll.

I was looking last night and by the way the concrete forms are laid it looks as if they will be putting some sort of design in the concrete just like the entrance to TL or some sort of design like the ones in front of M:S.
You mean like the old TL?

Either way...That pattern or design could tell us a lot on the design for the new queue (if there is one) in SM. Same for TL if they want to revamp it a bit.

From there...

Are these new? They would very cool, lit up, I think...even if the red clashes with the green and blue.

FANTASTIC!:sohappy: Looks like we are getting references and a theme to ours. That's slightly hopeful.

What is that in the Fountain?:lookaroun

Nothing of consequence and I'm afraid the "planter" folks might be right. It is now looking very un-fountain like. :brick:

They are moving fast with whatever they are doing so I think SM will open on time.
