Yeah, don't understand why they wouldn't do it when the solution is so obvious... keep the same layout of SoA but change the facades to Monstropolis. Put Laugh Floor in the Premiere Theater (where Frozen currently is). Replace Mama Melrose with Harry Hausen's. Then just carve out some adjacent space (either the HISTK footprint or maybe part of LMA if that gets closed) to put in a dark ride. Not exactly complicated or expensive really and it keeps the SoA area available for the Osborne Lights.

What's the downside?
This is way to logical for TDO

It's like, why don't they just add more Peter Pan tracks while they're at it! Heck, gut all the nearby gift shops and make even more Peter Pan tracks! The lines will move quicker and you can hop right back on and ride it again and again and again!

That's why we need variety. Like DL's Fantasyland... Lots of dark rides, a good variety, and each ride only needs a track each because the variety also handles the capacity problem. Guest are happy because lines are short and because they get to go on something different each time when they exit the ride!

I really really really really want to believe that Disney isn't that dumb and will surprise us with Door Coaster!

I guess the only plus is that they are indeed addressing a major issue, but I'm really disappointed that a space like that is "allegedly" not receiving a brand new attraction. It's just a waste to me.

It's not a waste. Even if DHS had 10 other great attractions, wait times for TSMM would be unbearable due to its insanely low throughput. I just don't understand why they don't plan for this initially. Calculating hourly ride capacity is a pretty basic operation.

If DHS had 10 other great attractions, then the majority of people would just decide to play TSMM on their Wii when they got home (sat on a swivel chair to mimic the spinning effect).

The reason it's so popular is because there is so little else to do, even less it you have younger kids i.e. putting R&RC and ToT out of the equation.
Add plenty more rides and problem solved.

Exactly the same can be said for the Cinema180 (sorry Soarin') expansion over at Epcot.

Building another track is just a complete waste of space in the park and does nothing in attract more people. Let's hope Disney does the right thing and actually is building a new attraction in HS to make up for everything already shuttered right now. Even an indoor version of barnstormer right now would be a better additions then TSMM3.

Why then, doesn't it have hour long waits at DCA? Pretty much the same ride, same capacity, same throughput.

No fastpass might have something to do with this, Most insane wait ever at DL was when Subs reopened and that was only 2-1/2 hours but thats not unusual standby for DHS TSMM

If they build the new one for fast pass only I would imagine a new line would be a smart thing to put in. You can remove the confusion.

This seems like a good possibility. Split the building's exterior into separate entrances, one for Fastpass and one for standby.

That said, considering that two-thirds (or more) of a ride's capacity is usually devoted to Fastpass, I wonder if the opposite is true of what many here are suspecting: the existing tracks will be both become Fastpass, and the new single track will become standby, with its own entrance.

Just thinking out loud; can't say I know one way or the other.
