something needs to be done re: flash photography

I would say that a lot more signage, like before you even enter the park and at every ride. It could be clearly posted in the map, like they do with fast pass. And after all, every ride has some kind of video. They should have the actors instruct us that way as well.

I really don't think that anything will stop them. Especially more signage.

I have seen people get on M:S KNOWING they are motion sickness prone or claustrophobic who freak out when they get on, despite the fact that they tell you 8,000,000,000 times before you board.

And that is people's health! Tell them not to use their cameras, they will anyway.

These are probably the same people who stop and sit half way through an empty row for a show or who stand in line and allow 20 of their "family members" to join them 3/4 of the way into the line. :fork:

I get stressed out on POTC because I work myself up about the flash photography. I wish they would take Capt Jack out so people will stop it already!

I also had a guy in the row in front of me on POTC turn around and take a pic with the flash in my face. I told him that it was very rude - and he stopped until the last scene - but it got my bloodpressure up.

:(
Funny--the people behind me on POTC were taking so many flash photos that I was getting a headache (the ride was moving very slowly), so I finally had it and turned around to take a picture in their face. I don't think they got the hint.

I thankfully haven't encountered this too much, but it has been a few years since I've been to WDW so maybe I'm in for a surprise on our next trip.

I once accidentally fired off my flash while getting ready to exit my doombuggy at the haunted mansion (right before the unload) and the cast member scolded me about it in an extremely condescending manner.

It is a shame that people can't follow simple directions such as no flash photography, but aside from politely (and repeatedly) asking guests to refrain, I'm not sure what else Disney can do short of banning ALL photography on dark rides.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Yes
Im on both sides. I DO use flash on dark rides, but I do it when NOBODY else is on the ride. Mainly late at night.

However, Ive been on Pirates with flashes going on non stop and yes that is very annoying.

I take one of those very bright green laser pointers on all the rides with me, and if someone uses a flash, I shine it right in their eyes. Usually after that there's no more flashes...just some screams of agony.

I admit it. As a 10-year-old kid using his parents' camera, I used the flash on HM, POTC, Space Mountain, SSE, gosh knows what else. I remember hearing the warning spiel, but when the Flash went off accidentally the first time and no cops came to haul me away, I convinced myself that by "Flash photography," they probably meant external video camera lights, which stay lit all the time.

So, sorry to all you folks I annoyed with my camera in 1986!

so since we are talking about flashes. how about the people that are on tta taking pics when they go through space mt. i mean come on what are u taking pics of steel beams with glass in front of you. when i worked on saturday some jack in the box decided it was a good idea to use his big ol video recorder with a big ol bright light on it. talking about killing the magic for guest omg. we might have been better off turning the lights on at that point. sorry still made about it. if there wasnt glass protecting that guy i would have thrown a freaken water bottle at his head.:fork:

Did any of you watch the Olympics? The crowd was asked, warned, urged repeatedly to NOT use flash photography during events such as diving. But EVERYTIME someone left the platform.....hundreds of flashes went off.

If the communist government can't stop it, I don't think Disney has a chance.

Not to long ago, this person on the HM was taking flash pictures just about every two seconds. By the time we got to the seance room, I couldn't take it anymore. So in my very best HM cast member impression (complete with british accent) i screamed, "NO FLASH PICTURES, PLEASE!!". No more flash pictures. I was very proud.:sohappy:

We are living in an increasingly self-absorbed world where people are now taking numerous photos of themselves regardless of what people think and then post all 500 photos online, tag 80 people in the background as a garbage can or tree, and then include some random caption like "us on the dumb boring golfball ride" or "the haunted house isn't scary" or "hanging out at universal" (with a picture of cinderella castle in the background of the photo :zipit:)

A visit to The Seas with Nemo annoyed me more than any other. The couple in the clam next to us thought that if you didn't get a picture ever 5 seconds you weren't using your camera right. The workings behind some of the best scenes were shown bright and clear - not that it's a real secret but it certainly spoils the effect - their pictures must look pretty bad too. Try telling your friend that the effect of the fish with the light on its tail (anyone know what thats called?) looked goo when you can clearly see the robotic arm behind it.

Maybe disney should issue little patches of black electricians tape to for every guest to stick over the flash:shrug:

This is one of my number one pet peeves!! One time a group of my friends and i were waiting in line for the Seas with Nemo and Friends when about five members of the party in front of us came storming through the line to reach their group on walkie talkies. For the rest of the line they kept taking a billion pictures no matter who was around, getting the flash in everyones eyes. Once we got to the part with the projections of the silverfish in the walls they wouldn't stop taking pictures and them couldnt figure out why they were not coming out! They proceeded to take flash photos through the entire ride! Sometimes i can not believe the lack of common sense that some people have! Haha, but i digress.

You guys are some of the biggest bunch of babies I've ever heard. Oh, it hurts my eyes, it gives me migraines. Quit whining, some people dont get to go to Disney too often and want take pictures to remember things. If you dont like flash photography dont go.

That's certainly no excuse to ruin others experience of the attractions. The photos that these people are taking are not and will not show the attraction as they would remember it if they got there head out of their viewfinder. If they want good pictures of the attraction, they can usually buy some professionally done pix in the gift shops.

Wow, that is a bit harsh...they really shouldn't be doing it.
