I am one of those people who doesn't get to go to WDW very often at all, and I can truthfully say that I don't feel the need to take flash pictures on rides. The problem is that I only get to go to WDW every other year, and that I only get to experience these rides every other year, and often the experience is ruined by rude people. I just find it amazing that so many people find it perfectly acceptable to be so rude.

All in all, these pictures that people take will be looked at once by them, put in an album and probably never seen again. If you really do need/want pictures of a ride, just buy a postcard.

POTC: My wife and I were in the front of the boat, the rest of the boat was filled with the yellow shirts (pretty sure it was Brazilian).
It got so bad that they had the boat in front and the one behind us screaming at them.
Every single one of them (about 10 or so) had a camera in their hand with the flash in ________ everyone off mode. I swear I was at a rave.

No one would complain if it weren't for the fact that Disney itself has a no flash photography rule on certain attractions. Anyone using a flash is breaking the rules. The rules are in place mainly because the flash can actually disrupt some of the effects, and the flash itself reveals things that are intentionally hidden. Calling us a bunch of babies because we'd like to see the rules be enforced because the flashes hurts the experience for us is ridiculous.

I don't get to go as often as I'd like. I'd love to have some better video and pictures of the rides. But I'd never use a flash or light and ruin the experience for another guest.

I find it appauling that people use flash photography on dark rides. They repeatedly say before you get on, NO Flash Photography, but I also don't understand - I use a flash in the dark with some light and that picture comes out worse than the one with no flash at all? I was just at Disneyland and it took me everything I had not to turn around and yell at the idiots behind me, who were not excused for being 1) foreign or 2) handicapped.

My guess is that these morons aren't that adept with cameras, given that they're probably the same ones using those flashes during Wishes! and Illuminations, too.

ah one of my favorite pastimes is shouting at people who think Flash is going to make a big difference to Fantasmic.

Most people just leave their camera's in auto with auto flash, plus the groups with the colored tops (you know who I mean) are generally some of the rudest loudest groups I've ever meet, and the more I visit WDW, the more they are getting to me.

One of two i can handle, but the over the top, Oh shiny thing *Flash* oh moving thing *Flash* thing is just a pain.

This is up their with people who talk through/over rides.

This is the only photo I've ever taken on a dark ride in Disney. And that was late at night and only after the ride had been stopped for over a minute.
Come on, that scene's hilarious. We did the robot every time we went by her.

So, what you're saying is that if I was foreign or handicapped I could take flash pictures? I'm sorry but the way everyone is ranting on here about this issue a rule is a rule whether you're foreign or handicapped...no exceptions!

I myself think it is rude to take flash pictures around others so I, like another poster stated, choose to do it when I'm the only one on the ride. Contrary to what some of you have been saying flash pictures in the dark do turn out quite well and look great in the scrapbook!

Please don't hate me...

Yes!!

To complain about people using flash photography is like saying I wish those people would stop getting in line in front of me. Its really rude and its making it harder for me to ride this ride because there are other people at Disney and they shouldnt be here messing up my schedule. Yeah, I know its against the rules and all of you are so perfect.:D

I love watching people try and take flash pictures of Fireworks or certain rides and seeing the puzzled looks on their faces when they see nothing but black in the viewfinder. Hmm...must be the camera isn't working right...let's try that again... :lookaroun

I'm so glad I read this thread. Now I know to turn off my flash when I'm taking pictures of fireworks.

:) Yes I am uber-perfect, thanks for noticing.

...nevermind.

I'm not going to get involved in an argument with someone not playing with a full deck.

Amazing show of restraint!

Seriously, it's getting way out of hand. It blows my mind that people care so little about spoiling attractions for the other riders that they just flash away. It's worst on Pirates and has been for awhile.
The wife and I went to mk on saturday, epcot on sunday and saw flashes on nearly every attraction. On SSE, people in the car in front of us turned around and took pictures of the people in the front seat of our car, the pictures of themselves riding, and then amazingly, flash pictures of the PROJECTED image of earth at the top.
On mansion, motion stopped at the ballroom scene and gentleman in the doombuggy next to us repeatedly attempted a flash photograph. He appeared completely unable to understand why using a flash on a giant piece of glass wasn't yielding better results.
Any thoughts on how to improve this situation? I recommended an IQ test before people could carry in a camera, but my wife said the security checkpoints already make entering the park take too long.

I agree, taser or shoot on sight...I mean flash...:o

perhaps we should all do something similar to the ballroom scene in haunted mansion. From now on, everyone should carry either a reflective piece of plastic, or go all out and carry a mirror with them. Then when jethro goes to take his next flash photo, quickly hold the plastic or mirror up in front of his camera. Just remember to hide it before he puts the camera down, though. No need getting pummeled for teaching a dolt a lesson.

oh my thats just too funny... let me know how it goes :-)

If I ever see you around I'll make sure that I use flash photography to take away the magic of the experience. I'll also push in front of you in all rides, I'll make sure to position myself so that you are unable to see the parades or shows, I'll smoke next to you in a non-designated area and I'll ask anyone will a stoller or EVC nearby to run into you. If you don't like it, don't go because I obviously have a right to spoil your enjoyment.

My point - people should be considerate. For flash photography it's a case of following the rules of the parks as well as being considerate. Whilst a flash might not be as offensive as calling someone a ********, it is still inconsiderate. A dark ride is meant to be a....... wait for it....... dark ride. Not a dark ride punctuated by bright flashes which reveal 'hidden' objects and spoil the light levels and effects which I'm sure Disney spent thousands on.

And finally, as others have said - the pictures look better without a flash. you can't take a picture of a light effect by throwing lots of light at it!
