Trip Report Social Disneying *completed*

Social Disneying

So we just returned from a much needed trip to the World!

I did a semi live trip report but wanted to do a more thorough full report and what our thoughts and experiences were going back in this crazy world we have been stuck in for almost a year now.

This year was the longest gap in Disney trips for us in years. We usually do yearly 10 day trips but took advantage of AP’s in 2018 and 19 and went 4 times from September 2018- August 2019. I was way overdue for some Pixie Dust to put it mildly.

The whosits and what’s its galore!

Myself, Gigi-

DisneyB, my patient hubby that has put up with my addiction to all things Disney for 30 plus years now.

And my precious Stinker- (3rd trip) He is as addicted to Disney as his Gigi is. I taught him well. ;)

The where- The Yacht Club (my first stay here and a major Disney Bucket list item to check off!) January 10-16th.

Most people that are familiar with my reports know I despise being in a car. It is torture. For me and for B- because I complain like a 4 year old. He chooses to drive at night so I will fall asleep and not make him question why he agreed to make the trek with me again. I had a tall glass of wine that evening and took a couple of melatonin gummies after Stinker was back out in the car. I fell asleep pretty quickly in SC and did not wake up until a little past Savannah so B had a good drive down. If I make it that far, I am so excited to be that close and don’t complain as much. I nodded off again around Jacksonville and we were at the gate around 6:30 am!

It was before 7:00 am when we pulled into the YC and I got the text the room wasn’t ready but B went in to ask, just in case- Score! We got a first floor room just across from the quiet pool and laundry.

While he went in to check on that I had my screen open and ready to try for RotR. Ya, right, as quick as I was, it was a big fat no!

The room being ready though definitely took a little of the sting away.

We freshened up, unloaded a few things and made the walk to DHS and was in the park around 8:40ish.

I was so shocked that the Christmas stuff was still up. Glad I got to see it again.

We headed straight here-

And by 11:30 had been on Slink, Aliens and TSM twice each!

Not bad after being out on the open road all night-

Um it was -33C here today (-27 Fahrenheit) I’d kill to have made it as far south as they did 😂

Although fun fact - I have ducks for pets and they’re perfectly happy playing in the snow at -33 🤷🏻‍♀️
Where do you live? I could not imagine. It is supposed to be 29 tonight, after being almost 70. That is is frigid. I would freeze!
Sorry for the like overload, I'm woefully behind in my trip report reading and trying to catch up! So glad you got to enjoy your favorite place with Stinker, he looks like he's having a wonderful time!
So glad to have you @krisri18 ! He had a ball, we did too. :)
I disagree. I like all of your photos in your TR. Pictures don't have to be taken by a professional photographer to catch my interest. Images of the experiences you are sharing, help to highlight the details. :)
I used to take a camera, and I have got lazy with an iPhone. I mostly take them at this point just to remember stuff. Thank you for the sweet comments, and thank you for following.

I’m in Winnipeg, Manitoba! We’ve had a pretty mild winter so far but we usually have a couple weeks of these horrid temperatures every year. And usually we’d take at least a week each winter to travel somewhere warm but that’s not going to happen this year 😩

I hate winter with a passion, but could not imagine it being that cold. I guess we have it good in NC. I love you have pet ducks, I did when I was little.

No way I could ever go to AK without getting a Harambe Cooler from Bob or Steve. I was very happy to see that they both were still there and it was good to chat with Bob. It was totally dead, one other couple there while we enjoyed our drinks. I have never seen that before! I missed the music, it felt weird without it.

We headed out and after a quick stop at the resort to freshen up hopped the skyliner to DHS, where it was also dead!

The wait for MRR was 25 minutes. I can’t remember if that was the posted wait time or what we actually waited. Forgot to include that tidbit in my notes. Anyway not a bad wait at all. I still hated to see the Great Movie Ride go, but this is a totally adorable ride. I loved it and so did Stinker. B was also impressed.

What’s in a Harambe cooler and where can I get one?!?
It is similar to the Lost on Safari, but with Dark Rum as well as the Star African Rum and it is hand mixed not from the machine, so stout! It is at Dawa Bar, they are the only bar that has the African Rum. They took it off the menu several years ago but both Bob and Steve know how to make it, newer people don’t usually have a clue what you are talking about. One of them are usually always there. Bob has been making me Harambe Coolers since it opened. It is a tradition!

Oooooh, I see one of those in my future too @Darstarr !! I normally just get the pineapple whip with dark rum across the way at Tamu Tamu when I'm in the area, but this might just go well with it!

After riding this we headed to Star Wars Land where it also was very dead. If anybody was there they must have been in the queue or on RotR. Speaking of, we never did get to ride it. I got some great advice from @Tuvalu on how to be quicker but Millennium Falcon freaked Stinker out so we switched up plans to be at DHS the next morning to MK.

Some Star Wars photos.

I know this show was old but I loved it. My son had a serious crush on Ariel when he was 3 and he made us do that show over and over. I miss it.

We headed out a little before the park closed and hopped the Skyliner.

Stinker stayed awake long enough to eat some fruit and fries and play with his new Groot he got at AK.

B and I got the Seafood Pot Pies from Ale & Compass. It sounded so good but it isn’t something I would get again.

And Stinker passed out again before I could get him in the bath.

I know. I didn’t pay attention when taking it but I loved it after I looked at them. It looks almost like an ad or something.
Harambe Cooler? On the list!
I can’t believe you guys haven’t ever had a Harambe Cooler! That was the first alcoholic drink I ever had at Disney and Bob made it and most of the many I have had over the years. They are great.
It's amazing how much more you see of Toy Story Land in your night pictures! So much more vivid than during the day. I'm seeing things I never realized were there!
It is so cool at night, especially with low crowds.
