Trip Report Social Disneying *completed*

Social Disneying

So we just returned from a much needed trip to the World!

I did a semi live trip report but wanted to do a more thorough full report and what our thoughts and experiences were going back in this crazy world we have been stuck in for almost a year now.

This year was the longest gap in Disney trips for us in years. We usually do yearly 10 day trips but took advantage of AP’s in 2018 and 19 and went 4 times from September 2018- August 2019. I was way overdue for some Pixie Dust to put it mildly.

The whosits and what’s its galore!

Myself, Gigi-

DisneyB, my patient hubby that has put up with my addiction to all things Disney for 30 plus years now.

And my precious Stinker- (3rd trip) He is as addicted to Disney as his Gigi is. I taught him well. ;)

The where- The Yacht Club (my first stay here and a major Disney Bucket list item to check off!) January 10-16th.

Most people that are familiar with my reports know I despise being in a car. It is torture. For me and for B- because I complain like a 4 year old. He chooses to drive at night so I will fall asleep and not make him question why he agreed to make the trek with me again. I had a tall glass of wine that evening and took a couple of melatonin gummies after Stinker was back out in the car. I fell asleep pretty quickly in SC and did not wake up until a little past Savannah so B had a good drive down. If I make it that far, I am so excited to be that close and don’t complain as much. I nodded off again around Jacksonville and we were at the gate around 6:30 am!

It was before 7:00 am when we pulled into the YC and I got the text the room wasn’t ready but B went in to ask, just in case- Score! We got a first floor room just across from the quiet pool and laundry.

While he went in to check on that I had my screen open and ready to try for RotR. Ya, right, as quick as I was, it was a big fat no!
A78075E2-FA40-4F68-B03A-D0DEAE0870C8.png

The room being ready though definitely took a little of the sting away.

We freshened up, unloaded a few things and made the walk to DHS and was in the park around 8:40ish.

I was so shocked that the Christmas stuff was still up. Glad I got to see it again.

We headed straight here-

And by 11:30 had been on Slink, Aliens and TSM twice each!

Not bad after being out on the open road all night-

Speaking of location and laundry- it was a good thing we were so close to the laundry. We did it every night because even though I packed enough for two weeks in all kinds of seasons. Stinker would not wear anything hardly but his Captain America T-shirt or Avengers long sleeve and his fave Mickey sweatshirt. Don’t even get me started on masks. I had to wash his Cap and Groot masks every night in the sink and blow dry them with my high powered blow dryer. I wiped the washer/dryers down but even with the heat of the dryers could not put masks in the laundry.

You guys really probably think I am over exaggerating my Mr. Monk personality and it isn’t just Covid related- I bring my own face cloths. I cannot wash my face with something that someone else washed *other things* with.

Anyway, some Disney bunnies came out to say hello, much to my delight!

And Stinker passed out learning about safety.

We stopped and got a Bubble Wand because he had been such a big boy, and got to see my boys! ❤️

Some areas seemed really congested while others not. Fantasyland was terrible. Going into this trip I had all these ADRs and the way that Covid kept worsening, I ended up canceling most of them. I got really uncomfortable at the thought of being indoors without a mask. Well, after elbow bumping so much and the pain of limited menus on mobile order and lukewarm food- I changed my mind. I also needed something with more kick than a Diet Coke, so we made adrs for Skipper Canteen.

We both got the Tastes like Chicken and Stinker got the kids chicken and fruit. He ate the fruit. 😑 Eating was such a battle with him. I hope he outgrows the pickiness soon. I got two Iron Horse Sparkling Wine and B I am sure got Bud Light.

After we ate we decided since it was warm today, it would be a good day to let Stinker play in the pool. So we headed out but not before I said a hello to my precious Disney Ducks!

It was so funny. I walked up and start talking to them and here they came! I know they wanted food but I can pretend they missed me. ;)
Well, at least if he only ate part of his meal, it was healthy. My son won't touch fruit at all. And he won't eat the chicken nuggets at Disney. You said stinker won't eat chicken strips, they have to be nuggets...my son won't even eat most chicken nuggets. He only likes certain brands. On our last Disney trip, he lived on french fries and joffrey's giant donuts. I don't remember him eating anything else...not even ice cream or popcorn.

He does love fruit so that is a good thing. Cheese, peas, nuggets that look like McDonald’s, tater tots and fries are about all he will eat. Oh and fish sticks. The only kid I have ever known that will not pizza! 😳

Mine won't eat pizza except for one brand of frozen pizza, pepperoni. None of the other kinds and no other brands. No delivery pizza, and not the stuff at Disney, though he did pick off some pepperoni from our pizza at Via Napoli and eat that. No cheese. Peas and spinach are the only veggies he will eat IF they are mixed in with specific dishes. Peas with Rendang (I believe it's indonesian) or spinach in lasagna. He will eat garlic bread if I make it. He'll eat plain biscuits if I make them. And he'll eat baguettes or croissants. That's almost the entire list. I can sometimes get him to eat a sandwich with nutella. And for a while he was eating fruit loops, but he must have gotten tired of them. We can't get them here and my husband went into Germany to get them and now he isn't eating them. Part of it is his autism. If things are slightly different than he's used to, he's afraid it's not safe, so once he's tasted the one brand and knows he likes it, he only wants that one brand. But yeah, I've never met a kid pickier than mine. He won't eat any fruit at all.

We ordered breakfast and then walked to DHS so Stinker could ride Aliens. Hands down his favorite ride besides the Skyliner. He loved the skyliner best when it was windy. I should have gotten him on ToT, I swear he would have loved it but looking at it intimidated him.

I snapped some pics of some birds along the way.

The walk out of Toy Story Land was packed. It honestly didn’t feel much different than any trip. We stopped and had some popcorn and got Stinker a Alien bucket, which he ended up only having for a few hours. I think he must have set it down on the bench up from Hurricane Hanna’s and I didn’t notice. (Or it fell out of the stroller.)

It was nice to sit and people watch while munching on popcorn. Is it just me or is popcorn just better at Disney?

We had to hang out a little bit at the resort so we didn’t have to wait in line to get into Epcot. That was fine, it gave Stinker time to run around and I ordered him some fruit and a cheese plate since that was about all he would eat besides ice cream and popcorn. 😑

We hit the temp check, where I looked like this again-

I didn’t stop for a Grand Marnier, but instead got a Cranberry Sparkling wine while B got a Moosehead and Stinker got some Maple Popcorn.

I was kind of bummed he only got measured once. I know that is silly but it is a Disney moment when they are tall enough. He screamed a bit on TT, but it didn’t last long.

After Test Track he got a toy in the gift shop for being so brave. Yes, I kind of bribe my grandchild, but it is my right as a Gigi and he isn’t spoiled, he says he is just right. I agree.

We ran into the princesses again. I love that I got him waving. It was so sweet. He is going to be a charmer.

I love Draft Horses, well horses period. We used to have several and I miss them. A draft horse especially is so beautiful and big! I miss them sometimes when we go in the heat of Summer so seeing so many was a treat.

I stopped and picked this up.

Soup Can Bloody Mary -

Cute but tiny! Not worth 14 bucks at all.

The Shrimp Ceviche. It was really good but Ceviche is raw, the citrus “cooks” the shrimp. This was cooked so not as good as authentic Ceviche.

We hit up Figgy and Nemo again of course.

Then headed back around the showcase to try some more things-

Artist’s Table

Beef Wellington- very good!

Scallop with Chorizo- very good just small. Flower & Garden and Food & Wine Festivals, you usually get two scallops for the same price but not complaining because I adored the plating at Festival of the Arts.

Stinker loved the cookie, painting it made it funner. He ate almost the whole thing and that is not like him.

One of the main items I had wanted was the Sushi Donut. I love Sushi and Poke bowls. It was delicious and a very large portion.

I found out I do not like poached eggs. Loved everything else.

Headed out, thankful to not have to hit a bus or walk the parking lot to the car. WS was hopping! You wouldn’t know a Pandemic was going on. Thankfully, the crowds eased as we went out the gate.

Admired my view, with a Night Cap, and Stinker passed out again.

Minor report interruption -

Why I just now have an Instapot? I do not know. Risotto is one of my fave dishes I make but I do not have time with Stinker to baby it. I called total Bull on in 5 minutes after sauté, ya well.. I just thought after Covid, I needed to go on a diet. This is too easy. 😑 Life is a lie.

Whatever recipe or person who told you 5 mins for the risotto clearly wasn’t Italian - I admire (and appreciate) the patience my Italian friends have when making risotto because to make it well requires so much effort!
Totally agree that the slow way is the authentic way but as many times as I have made it a ladle at a time and like an hour, (hundreds) this tasted just as good. If in a hurry, makes a heck of a side dish.

Just joining in! Loving it so far and it's making me want to hop on a plane right now! I am definitely not a germaphobe, but picking up a sucker off of a pole would make me cringe also. ALSO my girl is picky and this is not giving me hope for our future since she's only two and already like this :hilarious:

It was definitely a fun trip, a different trip but still fun. The sucker thing if the kid had just picked it up, it would have been bad but kids will be kids, I could not believe the Mom picked it up and handed it to her though. Stinker used to eat everything, then about 2 1/2- 3 just overnight stopped trying stuff. It is so frustrating 😂 I know he will grow out of it eventually but right now it is a challenge. Thank goodness for Flintstone vitamins!

I hope he does grow out of it. I have a 16 year old that lost 5 lbs when we took a trip to France a couple of years ago because we couldn’t find chicken strips at all the restaurants! She survived on potato soup and French fries for two weeks. My other two kids eat all sorts of food (and will try new things).

Noticed this in one of your pics
Just does not seem right (or sanitary)

Maybe the photographer should take the "couple kissing each other" out of the rotation until COVID is done???

Max
I did not even notice that in that pic but did see people doing that in front of the castle. I was kind of surprised that they were still doing it considering how they constantly are saying avoid touching your face.
