Trip Report Social Disneying *completed*

Social Disneying

So we just returned from a much needed trip to the World!

I did a semi live trip report but wanted to do a more thorough full report and what our thoughts and experiences were going back in this crazy world we have been stuck in for almost a year now.

This year was the longest gap in Disney trips for us in years. We usually do yearly 10 day trips but took advantage of AP’s in 2018 and 19 and went 4 times from September 2018- August 2019. I was way overdue for some Pixie Dust to put it mildly.

The whosits and what’s its galore!

Myself, Gigi-

DisneyB, my patient hubby that has put up with my addiction to all things Disney for 30 plus years now.

And my precious Stinker- (3rd trip) He is as addicted to Disney as his Gigi is. I taught him well. ;)

The where- The Yacht Club (my first stay here and a major Disney Bucket list item to check off!) January 10-16th.

Most people that are familiar with my reports know I despise being in a car. It is torture. For me and for B- because I complain like a 4 year old. He chooses to drive at night so I will fall asleep and not make him question why he agreed to make the trek with me again. I had a tall glass of wine that evening and took a couple of melatonin gummies after Stinker was back out in the car. I fell asleep pretty quickly in SC and did not wake up until a little past Savannah so B had a good drive down. If I make it that far, I am so excited to be that close and don’t complain as much. I nodded off again around Jacksonville and we were at the gate around 6:30 am!

It was before 7:00 am when we pulled into the YC and I got the text the room wasn’t ready but B went in to ask, just in case- Score! We got a first floor room just across from the quiet pool and laundry.

While he went in to check on that I had my screen open and ready to try for RotR. Ya, right, as quick as I was, it was a big fat no!

The room being ready though definitely took a little of the sting away.

We freshened up, unloaded a few things and made the walk to DHS and was in the park around 8:40ish.

I was so shocked that the Christmas stuff was still up. Glad I got to see it again.

We headed straight here-

And by 11:30 had been on Slink, Aliens and TSM twice each!

Not bad after being out on the open road all night-

Next up was It’s a Small World! Where the queue snaked around backstage. Peter Pan was at 20 minutes, the wait on this said 40.

Having done the Backstage Magic tour and not being allowed to take photos, I was gonna take photos!! 😂

I know there are evacuation routes but the Bleeding control kits kinda creeped me out.

I finally got around to reading your TR and I'm loving it! I can tell how much you are enjoying this time with your adorable grandson. :) It was so sweet of your DH to drive through the night and then walk that much the first day in the parks!!! How fun that Stinker was finally tall enough to experience some rides for the first time! Loving all your pictures. :)

Thank you @lindawdw - as much as I was horrified at first, becoming a Grandmother at the age of 42- it ended up being the biggest blessing of my life! Just goes to show you that as sad as I was, to see my son leave the nest, someone watching over me had bigger plans. ;)

Looking back on it, my son was the same age I was, when I had him. (21) Funny how it was okay for me to become a mom at that age but I wasn’t ready for him to be a father. Live and learn. ❤️

B is always a trooper with the driving. Thanks for reading! :)

I totally agree. You are blessed with a beautiful little grandson who obviously adores you both!

The Bleeding Control kit may have creeped you out but the Plan B box really freaks me out. What the hell is Plan B?

Your post made me go back and look closely at the picture - it also says “Route B” so maybe it was named by someone with a very special sense of humor (or someone who didn’t even “realize” how it would look taken out of context of evacuation procedures).

There’s is another evacuation Route that I had heard about before, when 9/11 hit I believe. If my memory is correct it took you somewhere near Crystal Palace, which makes sense because when we went to the Utilidors it was through that same area. Maybe it is A? I know that have to have things like that in place but it was kinda creepy!

Edit to add this article I just found. Jim Hill Media. It definitely is A, B, C apparently.

We have used the evacuation route behind Main St on the Tomorrowland side. It was Christmas Eve after the fireworks but before the second parade. It was complete chaos and no one was listening to the CMs. We have never gone Christmas week since then. This happened in 2010.

Stinker loved all the Hidden Mickey’s. I hated the ears were gone off the big one for some reason.

We left here and headed to Soarin’ . The posted wait was 20 minutes but it was around 40. I am assuming we hit at a cleaning. I did see Elton walk by a couple of times so he must have been doing VIP. I didn’t get to say hey, but with all the layoffs I was just happy to spot him and know he is still there. I flat adore him, he is so funny and sweet.

After we got off it was 7:00 and the only available Mobile Orders were at the Smoke House and Sunshine Seasons. So I pulled up the menu and good grief what did they do with the food here??? There was literally nothing that Stinker would eat but chips. It was hot dog burger and a bbq on Texas toast. We chose the BBQ Texas Toast. It was disgusting, Neither of us could even eat a half of it. Trashed it and thought we could stop by and get some snacks at Hurricane Hanna’s but it had closed earlier- so it was Fruit snacks, goldfish and a fruit bowl and cheese plate from the market at YC. 😑

The Pina Colada from earlier did in fact bring along getting caught in the rain. A cold, cold rain! I found out tired legs can, in fact, still run pushing a stroller.

Stinker ate his snacks and stayed awake for a bath. We had a busy and early day tomorrow starting with breakfast at Chef Mickey’s.

That sandwich even looks horrid!

After we waved bye to Ariel & Prince Eric, the boys wanted to ride the Speedway again. I videoed them instead of riding.

Then we got in line for Buzz, almost at the door and Stinker goes No!!!! Not this one- the Big Buzz one. I was like baby this is the only Buzz ride. He was calling Aliens Buzz because of the big Buzz!!! So I was like is that what you wanna ride and he ways yes. Gigi, of course said well let’s go!! The lady behind looked at me shrugged her shoulders and was like- well ya- why not? Exactly!! He is only little once. We stopped for a quick pic on the way out.

I wouldn’t be back here, so I took a few more shots looking back as we walked out.

And one of my hero- Stinker pointed and said he has my middle name Geeg.

We drove to YC and stopped by to freshen up a bit then headed towards the skyway. We first stopped for a drink and let Stinker burn some energy while nobody was really around.

The skyliner was very windy today which thrilled Stinker. B, not so much. I was too busy videoing the ride for Stinker Sr. for it to bother me.

When we got into the park the Disney Jr. cars were coming out. He used to adore Doc- he seemed happy to see her. ❤️ I was so into it that I did not see how close B had parked him to the trash can. 😑

Love it. 😍 It always makes me feel a little sad to see families super focused on keeping a particular schedule and not taking opportunities (such as this) to do what the little one wants.

Then Stinker wanted to ride the Carousel. Those things totally mess with my Vertigo, so that was a Papaw ride. I got a Diet Coke to take a BC with as I had a busting headache. Snapped a few pics while they rode.

I've been sitting here for like ten minutes now trying to figure out what BC is, but I'm (almost) positive you aren't taking birth control for a headache?! 😂😂

I am the same way! With our kids we didn’t care if they wanted to walk from to Splash to Space 20 times or whatever, we did what they wanted to do. You see some parents getting frustrated and taking it out on the kids. I hate that. He will remember that we did whatever he wanted to do. ❤️ And he has me wrapped around his little finger. 😂
