Trip Report Social Disneying *completed*

Social Disneying

So we just returned from a much needed trip to the World!

I did a semi live trip report but wanted to do a more thorough full report and what our thoughts and experiences were going back in this crazy world we have been stuck in for almost a year now.

This year was the longest gap in Disney trips for us in years. We usually do yearly 10 day trips but took advantage of AP’s in 2018 and 19 and went 4 times from September 2018- August 2019. I was way overdue for some Pixie Dust to put it mildly.

The whosits and what’s its galore!

Myself, Gigi-

DisneyB, my patient hubby that has put up with my addiction to all things Disney for 30 plus years now.

And my precious Stinker- (3rd trip) He is as addicted to Disney as his Gigi is. I taught him well. ;)

The where- The Yacht Club (my first stay here and a major Disney Bucket list item to check off!) January 10-16th.

Most people that are familiar with my reports know I despise being in a car. It is torture. For me and for B- because I complain like a 4 year old. He chooses to drive at night so I will fall asleep and not make him question why he agreed to make the trek with me again. I had a tall glass of wine that evening and took a couple of melatonin gummies after Stinker was back out in the car. I fell asleep pretty quickly in SC and did not wake up until a little past Savannah so B had a good drive down. If I make it that far, I am so excited to be that close and don’t complain as much. I nodded off again around Jacksonville and we were at the gate around 6:30 am!

It was before 7:00 am when we pulled into the YC and I got the text the room wasn’t ready but B went in to ask, just in case- Score! We got a first floor room just across from the quiet pool and laundry.

While he went in to check on that I had my screen open and ready to try for RotR. Ya, right, as quick as I was, it was a big fat no!

The room being ready though definitely took a little of the sting away.

We freshened up, unloaded a few things and made the walk to DHS and was in the park around 8:40ish.

I was so shocked that the Christmas stuff was still up. Glad I got to see it again.

We headed straight here-

And by 11:30 had been on Slink, Aliens and TSM twice each!

Not bad after being out on the open road all night-

Wow, Gigi, I just finished all 5 pages, and of course was late to the game. That's how I feel when I am late, LOL. (the owl gif) I loved watching Stinker"s expressions and the fun he was having. I miss having little ones around and the awe and absolute happiness they show while at disney! He is adorable. My daughter (in the blue shirt in pic) is a germaphobic, before the pandemic. She always carried lots of hand sanitizer at disney and cleaned every surface she could. Can't wait for more TR. Thanks for allowing us to share in Stinker's (and your) fun trip.

I hope he does grow out of it. I have a 16 year old that lost 5 lbs when we took a trip to France a couple of years ago because we couldn’t find chicken strips at all the restaurants! She survived on potato soup and French fries for two weeks. My other two kids eat all sorts of food (and will try new things).
The more we try to push him to try things the more stubborn he is about it. I just kinda try to add new stuff and not point it out and hope he will eat it.

Thanks for reading @Minnesota disney fan ! Half of the fun is in reliving it in reports. Thank you, I sure think Stinker is pretty adorable. He owns my heart! I learned to enjoy trips just me and B but it feels amazing to get to take him and do all the things we did with his dad at those ages. I am glad to know I am not the only Clorox wipe, hand sanitizer germaphobe. 😂 It has gotten way worse since Covid, but I have always had a tick with cleaning things, and especially my hands!

My mom always forced me to eat things, even things I had tried multiple times before and didn't like, like potato salad and coleslaw. It didn't make me open to more foods...it just made me scared of trying new things because I knew I was going to have to eat however much she wanted me to eat, even if it made me gag. In fact, if I showed in any way that I didn't like it, I would get in trouble and she would yell at me. I wasn't allowed to say I didn't like something. I still have anxiety about food because of it, and I'm in my 40s. I don't force my son to eat things he doesn't like, because I know it's counterproductive. He's 13 and has a very limited food list, but I'm hoping it will expand when he's older. I was always really picky and I've gotten a lot better as an adult. I hope he will too.

We did Gorilla Falls next and I only got one picture. I didn’t like being in the buildings and having to push the doors open because even though the park wasn’t crowded everyone that exited our Safari went to the trail. I am having a brain freeze moment but are the chains on this trail with the birds? Or Marharajah? I don’t think they were there if it is this trail or I definitely would have remembered it.

Took this pic and remembered coming through this gate when we did Backstage Magic in 2015. The mirror to the side of Simba and Nala triggered my memory. I hope the tours come back one day. Such a fun experience.

I had to pose with a Hidden Fellow. ;) Stinker decided he needed a Simba popcorn bucket, which thankfully we didn’t lose.

The Lion King signs teared me up. I have never not done this show since it opened. We decided since neither of us wanted to ride FoP alone even if it was a 10 minute wait - to do The River Journey. We always chose FoP so we had never done it. We didn’t do anything that Stinker couldn’t do with us. Once he could go, just like his last trip, all priorities changed.

Anyway, when we passed FotLK, I did cry

Avatarland pics- the wait once we made it here, was at 35 minutes, it was the only ride we waited longer for, at 45 minutes. All other rides were mostly way shorter than posted, with a few being right at posted wait time.

Stinker was so good at finding Hidden Mickey’s or Fichwa Fellow’s, he pointed this one out in line.

I epically failed at getting a photo of the animatronic so videoed it instead. I did not care for the movie, as I have said before, but that thing is crazy cool. I probably still wouldn’t choose it over FoP, which is mind blowing but very impressed and glad that we did it.

After this we were hungry, so walked to Flame Tree, Mobile Ordered, and the food was warm and good. I was disappointed not to be able to get a seat facing Everest like we normally do but, it was all good.

B got rib plate, we shared Cornbread and Onion Rings. (Worth the stomach trouble later.) Stinker got Fries and fruit.

Then we did Tough to be a Bug! He loved it.

Then off to a questionable part of the park. My kids loved this area, so I do. Stinker loves it too. I will say, that I was more comfortable with the games this trip than any other. They are wiping everything down in between, the balls go in a plastic container and are sprayed down, then they sit and a new batch is handed for the next player. And cutie pie won the biggest prize! Check that grin out!

How was Skipper Canteen? I've been looking at a number of places to make ADR's at MK and that one sounded like it would be pretty good, but it doesn't seem to get a lot of love/great reviews on the forums.
One trip when my daughter was young, picky, and exhausted from long days of park touring, our wonderful waiter at Skipper Canteen (new at the time and lacking an established kids' menu) "created" amazing kid-friendly plates for her while mom and dad enjoyed regular menu items and drinks. So it holds a special place for us, and we visit every trip.

You got some nice safari pics!

I love that he loved Tough to be A Bug ! Very brave!
You take excellent Safari pics! (All pics!) I snapped enough on my iPhone to get lucky. 😂I was thrilled to see the Lions though.

I was blown away that it didn’t scare him. He loved every second of it, especially the bugs under the seat. Giggled and wiggled like crazy. :)
