Trip Report Social Disneying *completed*

Social Disneying

So we just returned from a much needed trip to the World!

I did a semi live trip report but wanted to do a more thorough full report and what our thoughts and experiences were going back in this crazy world we have been stuck in for almost a year now.

This year was the longest gap in Disney trips for us in years. We usually do yearly 10 day trips but took advantage of AP’s in 2018 and 19 and went 4 times from September 2018- August 2019. I was way overdue for some Pixie Dust to put it mildly.

The whosits and what’s its galore!

Myself, Gigi-

DisneyB, my patient hubby that has put up with my addiction to all things Disney for 30 plus years now.

And my precious Stinker- (3rd trip) He is as addicted to Disney as his Gigi is. I taught him well. ;)

The where- The Yacht Club (my first stay here and a major Disney Bucket list item to check off!) January 10-16th.

Most people that are familiar with my reports know I despise being in a car. It is torture. For me and for B- because I complain like a 4 year old. He chooses to drive at night so I will fall asleep and not make him question why he agreed to make the trek with me again. I had a tall glass of wine that evening and took a couple of melatonin gummies after Stinker was back out in the car. I fell asleep pretty quickly in SC and did not wake up until a little past Savannah so B had a good drive down. If I make it that far, I am so excited to be that close and don’t complain as much. I nodded off again around Jacksonville and we were at the gate around 6:30 am!

It was before 7:00 am when we pulled into the YC and I got the text the room wasn’t ready but B went in to ask, just in case- Score! We got a first floor room just across from the quiet pool and laundry.

While he went in to check on that I had my screen open and ready to try for RotR. Ya, right, as quick as I was, it was a big fat no!

The room being ready though definitely took a little of the sting away.

We freshened up, unloaded a few things and made the walk to DHS and was in the park around 8:40ish.

I was so shocked that the Christmas stuff was still up. Glad I got to see it again.

We headed straight here-

And by 11:30 had been on Slink, Aliens and TSM twice each!

Not bad after being out on the open road all night-

Stinker was a trooper to try everything once. He wasn’t 100 percent okay with Slinky but enough that he did ride it twice.

I so enjoyed watching his little aware eyes taking everything in. Taking him the prior two trips were great but he is at that age (almost 5) where you could see his little mind absorbing the details. It isn’t cool to cry with a mask on during covid as many times as I teared up. Jus sayin’ 😂

When we exited Toy Storyland - I had my first kind of uncomfortable moment when the crowds were just way more than I had anticipated them being. Disney is really careful in lines with the markers and most people were staying back but there really isn’t anything that can avoid the crowds in walkways. It wasn’t like fireworks exits or show exits but it was still elbow to elbow at times.

We decided to go to Rosies to eat, where I was disappointed that the Onion Straw Burger was no longer available. :( Even though we waited to mobile order until we were there and B immediately picked up the food when the notification came through- the food was cold. This would be consistent throughout the trip- order when we are right there, immediately get cold food. They have to be preparing in advance or something. My only real complaint about the trip would be the limited menus available mobile ordering and that the food was at best lukewarm.

So today I made my own Disney food. I had to cook it but hey, it was warm!

Few pics along the way, before heading out because Stinker wanted to ride Figgy.

Ugh....cold food would bother me!! As would crowds. My son won't eat the food if it's not warm, so we'd end up with lots of meltdowns. Were you eating at regular mealtimes or off times? Maybe if it was less crowded, you get the food faster? There must be some time between them completing the order, you getting the message that it's ready, plus the time it takes you to go pick up the food.

Woohoo!! Following along!
Yay! Thanks for tuning in. ☺️
Gifs aren't working! Well, I'm here!
That first one isn’t on mine either. (Maybe I did it wrong?) Thanks for following.
Hey, that is still pretty good. I am always fashionably late to reports. 😂
The Fourth is now with you! Sorry you didn’t have for your RotR try.
I definitely needed the Force. Thanks for following along with our shenanigans!
Looking forward to seeing the full report!
Thanks for joining the fun.
I'm here and excited to follow along!
Can I come to your house for dinner? Man that food looks good!
Why, of course you can! ;) Thanks for following along.
Here too. Got home today. If you thought Disney was uncomfortable....the airport and two overbooked flights were insane. Ribs look great.
Ugh, I don’t think I could fly right now. Thanks for joining in and hope you had a great trip. I kept hoping to bump into you on the walkway or the lobby.
I followed your semi-live report and am looking forward to all the details!
Thanks for following!
Yay! The full report to enjoy even more than the live one 😊
I really dropped the ball on the live one, we went so hard. Hope you enjoy the more thorough version. ☺️

That was the thing, we literally would not mobile order until we were onsite. Food would be ready in minutes but honestly it was cold every single time.B immediately picked it up each time too. Flame Tree was the only exception and it still wasn’t warm food just lukewarm. They have to be preparing some items and just letting them sit is all I can figure out.

We hopped the skyliner back to YC. Man is that efficient!?! Stinker loved it, like it was his favorite ride. Being the Grandparents that we are, he got several evening time loops just because he wanted to. ;) I loved it too but not when the wind blew. Stinker thought it was the funnest when it was windy. 😑

I also at this time want to mention that I had brought about 4 bags of alcohol wipes. When this whole thing started and cleaner and lysol wipes were so hard to come by I freaked! (Even though I had probably 10 canisters of wipes stored in my pantry because I bulk buy) Anyway I learned that I could make alcohol wipes with baby wipes, alcohol and essential oil. I kept a bag with me in backpack to wipe things down, like the seats and areas we had to touch once on a ride. It just made me feel a little better knowing I wiped it down and it dries almost instantly.

A few resort shots,

After we explored the resort a little we stopped here to grab a few drinks.

A Bloody Mary for Geeg, and a beer for B.

(and yes, I alcohol wiped that entire bench and my cup after I set it down for the 2 second picture!!)

We wandered in to the back gate and they do hold you back til exactly 2:00 on the dot before you can go thru temp checks and go in.

We headed in and after a stop for a picture-
A6D39C2F-D875-4B84-B0C2-F7363B9D1438.jpeg

We then headed towards France. Why you ask?

This is why!

It worked out really well because the cavalcade with Mickey and gang came right by while we were there. No pics of this because I videoed the precious thing waving so sweet at the characters. We headed towards Frozen because Stinker had not been on it yet and it was like 15 minutes.

On our way the Princesses came by- which was perfect, because surprising to me, Stinker had just said but Gigi, I haven’t seen any princesses yet. He only watches Rapunzel and Frozen so I wasn’t expecting him to be excited about princesses. He got a ton of air kisses and waves and he grinned so silly. His favorite was Aurora. He is going to like the blondes like his daddy. 😂

When we arrived to the queue for Frozen, we were greeted with a group that were spread out and a CM was saying something to. One particular guy in this group was making a very big deal of keeping his mask below his chin, laughing, coughing and just being obnoxious. I glared as I watched 4 more Cast come up to him and tell him to put his mask on properly. He would not comply. Finally the 6th time, a CM came and up told him that he had been asked 5 times to comply and that security was already in route. I’m sorry, but I clapped. The group glared at me but I did not care. He read the same rules everyone else did and somehow thought he didn’t have to follow them. I am going to assume since when we got off the ride, there were two security guards talking to them that he took it off again on the ride. Normally, I would not shame anyone in a picture, this time I will though, and I was kind enough to black out the eyes. My grandson looked at me and said Gigi why is that man not wearing a mask- my loud reply: Because he is an immature, disrespectful jerk.

I am short, sweet and friendly and I also have a large amount of sass when it is called for.
*end of rant*
Stinker loved the ride and that was all that mattered. The guy in front apparently pulled his mask down on the ride but at least he wasn’t being like the guy in the group outside was.
