Trip Report Social Disneying *completed*

Social Disneying

So we just returned from a much needed trip to the World!

I did a semi live trip report but wanted to do a more thorough full report and what our thoughts and experiences were going back in this crazy world we have been stuck in for almost a year now.

This year was the longest gap in Disney trips for us in years. We usually do yearly 10 day trips but took advantage of AP’s in 2018 and 19 and went 4 times from September 2018- August 2019. I was way overdue for some Pixie Dust to put it mildly.

The whosits and what’s its galore!

Myself, Gigi-

DisneyB, my patient hubby that has put up with my addiction to all things Disney for 30 plus years now.

And my precious Stinker- (3rd trip) He is as addicted to Disney as his Gigi is. I taught him well. ;)

The where- The Yacht Club (my first stay here and a major Disney Bucket list item to check off!) January 10-16th.

Most people that are familiar with my reports know I despise being in a car. It is torture. For me and for B- because I complain like a 4 year old. He chooses to drive at night so I will fall asleep and not make him question why he agreed to make the trek with me again. I had a tall glass of wine that evening and took a couple of melatonin gummies after Stinker was back out in the car. I fell asleep pretty quickly in SC and did not wake up until a little past Savannah so B had a good drive down. If I make it that far, I am so excited to be that close and don’t complain as much. I nodded off again around Jacksonville and we were at the gate around 6:30 am!

It was before 7:00 am when we pulled into the YC and I got the text the room wasn’t ready but B went in to ask, just in case- Score! We got a first floor room just across from the quiet pool and laundry.

While he went in to check on that I had my screen open and ready to try for RotR. Ya, right, as quick as I was, it was a big fat no!

The room being ready though definitely took a little of the sting away.

We freshened up, unloaded a few things and made the walk to DHS and was in the park around 8:40ish.

I was so shocked that the Christmas stuff was still up. Glad I got to see it again.

We headed straight here-

And by 11:30 had been on Slink, Aliens and TSM twice each!

Not bad after being out on the open road all night-

Considering how long we (especially B) had been up you would have thought we would have both fell asleep pretty quickly. That didn’t happen, we were both wired. Probably dozed off around midnight then about 4:00 am I woke up, realized where I was and well -

Stinker has a built in alarm clock for 6:00- 6:30 so luckily he joined me in a couple of hours.

I will point out that B most likely wanted smack me at being up so early, so I guess that made us even.

Stinker was starving so I gave him a quick bath while B went to pick up our food. This kid is picky as can be. To the degree that he will not eat a chicken strip, it has to be a nugget. He is also very picky about bacon, if it does not swing back and forth aka floppy he will not eat it. Bacon and fruit are the go to’s with him though so I ordered 2 sides along with what came with his Mickey Waffles. Thankfully, it was Floppy! He ate every bit!

The food from YC was always fresh and warm.

We finished up and straightened the room and headed here!!!

I miss the Trams! Not because of the walk but the Tram is the first Disney ride.

After Temp Check and security we headed to the monorail.

Btw, am I the only person that wants to try to stare at that dot on my forehead? I swear I looked like this...

We boarded the monorail pretty quickly. They loaded a group per side. I hated the dividers they have up kinda killed the castle view but I did get one crappy pic.

I was again so surprised Christmas stuff was still up! A very comfortable stroll down Main Street.
Man, did it feel good for my feet to be back here!

And there she stood, in all her glory-

I so thought I would hate it... ya, I so don’t!

Maybe the absence made my heart grow fonder or it isn’t as bright in person? I mean it is bright, but I really like it and that isn’t like me at all. I hate change. I adore the gold and I even like the pink. The blue is a bit blue, but I love it.

For the first time ever our destination upon entering the park took me thru the castle. We always start with Splash. I wasn’t willing to put Stinker through that kind of beginning to his day though.

I meant to take pics because it was so empty but I had one thing on my mind.

My very first ever ride at Disney World was Peter Pan’s Flight. It was also my son’s very first ride and we rode it together. I have never been on it without him.

When they let us take Stinker in 2018, when his dad dropped him off, he gives me this look and tells Stinker- “You make sure you ride Peter Pan’s Flight with Gigi for me.” I bawled.

Hey, not gonna lie. I am bawling typing that!

Anyway, to make a long sob story short- (too late)

We didn’t get to ride it because it was packed and I didn’t have a FP for it that trip.

We parked the stroller and followed the long snaking line to Columbia Harbour House! Hey at least I got to go in.

The posted wait said 25 minutes but even with the ginormous, winding line we were on the ride in a little under 19 minutes!

Didn’t get a selfie- B was too slow with the phone and I was alcohol wiping. 🤣

It was a moment though. It wasn’t my original Disney buddy, but it was with number 2 Disney buddy. ;)

So, a tired day one end with room service from ale & Compass. It was good. My steak was a bit hard to eat with a plastic knife and fork, but it was good and in our room. Stinker never made it for his nuggets and fries!

He didn’t make it for dinner,so we planed a big breakfast in the am!
Awww, such a cute pic and it reminds me of when we took our youngest to Disneyland when he was 8. We packed a ton of rides and walking into our first day, and planned to wind down in the evening with a fun dinner at the restaurant that the PoTC ride passes through (Blue Bayou)--but Adam fell asleep with his head on the table after the first french fry...lol

He passed out like this every night but some nights we were quick enough to get some food in him. 🤣 Such sweet memories! ❤️

Then we headed back to Liberty Square towards Splash... we rode HM- Stinker Loved it! I pointed out Leota’s tombstone, which I have downstairs on our slot machine, ya he was hooked after recognizing it.

Witnessed the nastiest thing I have ever seen when a little girl laid down her sucker on one of the posts. Mom went to pick it up, assumed she would throw it away. Nope! Handed it right back to her and she plops it in her mouth.

After my Monk moment, we headed to Splash! Splash Mountain is my favorite ride period, ever. When they announced they were going to change it, I was devastated, still am actually. I am just thankful I got to ride it again and that Stinker got to ride it. I am also crossing my fingers that they have so much to finish that the change will be delayed for a long time or better yet axed!

The wait for this said 45 minutes I believe, the actual wait was maybe 20.

Right as we snapped the selfies, the group behind us screams- (you can see the couple looking back, they were with the group in next log)
The best I can figure is someone dropped a phone. Anyway, the lady behind us stands up right where the drop is beside you and starts screaming stop the ride. What is the point of the lap bars if you can still stand up? Anyway we had to sit there for 10 minutes or so. I was just glad we didn’t have to evacuate.

Stinker loved everything but the last drop. He said it hurt his belly. I was so proud of him trying it and that I got to ride it with him. ❤️

Some areas seemed really congested while others not. Fantasyland was terrible. Going into this trip I had all these ADRs and the way that Covid kept worsening, I ended up canceling most of them. I got really uncomfortable at the thought of being indoors without a mask. Well, after elbow bumping so much and the pain of limited menus on mobile order and lukewarm food- I changed my mind. I also needed something with more kick than a Diet Coke, so we made adrs for Skipper Canteen.

We both got the Tastes like Chicken and Stinker got the kids chicken and fruit. He ate the fruit. 😑 Eating was such a battle with him. I hope he outgrows the pickiness soon. I got two Iron Horse Sparkling Wine and B I am sure got Bud Light.

After we ate we decided since it was warm today, it would be a good day to let Stinker play in the pool. So we headed out but not before I said a hello to my precious Disney Ducks!

It was so funny. I walked up and start talking to them and here they came! I know they wanted food but I can pretend they missed me. ;)

How was Skipper Canteen? I've been looking at a number of places to make ADR's at MK and that one sounded like it would be pretty good, but it doesn't seem to get a lot of love/great reviews on the forums.

This was our second time eating here, and I loved it both times. A bit different during Covid, but they still make the jokes. Food is really good, and love the atmosphere.

A ride on the monorail, then back to the resort. To play in the pool.

On my live trip report, I told about how it was our first resort pool time. By that, I actually meant, I watched Stinker play in the sand kid part of the pool. B did walk him across to the little island. I sat by the pool, so I did the pool. I don’t do public pools. I just can’t. It grosses me out. I did let my grandkid, though, in a Pandemic, so that is growth! If I was going to get in a public pool, this one was really amazing.
