DCA getting the new Soarin' film doesn't bother me at all. The ship sailed on the California theming in that park awhile ago (Buena Vista Street aside).
I'm surprised that it hasn't been suggested to run both movies at the same location. To the right, Soarin' over California; to the left, Soarin' Over the World.
I'd probably ride it twice per trip.
The only solution would be to randomize it, which wouldn't really be to popular for people who wait in line 2 hours to see the new film and end up getting the California version. But then what about FastPass? Where do they go? One or the other? Do you get to choose or is it random which theater you go in? I think there are too many variables to allow that to happen.
Not seeing where this may have already been posted, but here's the Soarin' Expansion construction update as of Aug 5th...
Nice! Where did u get this aerial shot?
Awesome! I have the trial membership (which I quickly use up every month), but I have been waiting on them to update the Orlando area. Better late than neverI'm a member of nearmap.com (though I think you can set up free membership there)

Just what they need to keep the wait time down. Have everyone ride it twice. Not surprising at all.I'm surprised that it hasn't been suggested to run both movies at the same location. To the right, Soarin' over California; to the left, Soarin' Over the World.

oops got the orientation wrong, though they would keep the screen to the N or S, looks like the screen for theatre three is West
They should have just built another set of two. Even if they didn't run/staff all four all the time, it might have provided them with more flexibility during the upgrades.i was surprised the oriented it that way. I thought they would do it the other way so they could easily add a fourth theater if they wanted to.
To me this film update hinges so much on the score. Soarins' score is so perfect it's going to be hard to top. If it's not exactly right it will throw the whole film off.
The park handled Test Track being down for 8 months or so in 2012 and it survived. The only difference is Maelstrom is down too, which will make the hurt a bit worse. It's going to take time to replace the projection system and reprogram the ride to the new film, not to mention how they plan to connect the new building with the existing one. Don't expect it to happen over night, and some Guests may be in for a big disappointment at the beginning of the year if they do it the way I've heard they will do it. I'm just not sure how the park will be able to take it.
