Soarin' Expansion and new Soarin' Around the World film

DCA getting the new Soarin' film doesn't bother me at all. The ship sailed on the California theming in that park awhile ago (Buena Vista Street aside).

Does anyone think they will completely change the "feel" of the attraction and take away a lot of the steel look?

I would think they would open theatre 3 and then take 1 down for a refresh, while still keeping 2 theatres open and then refresh the other in the same manner until then all 3 are refreshed. I wouldn't think they could afford to take 2 down at once... or does anyone think, right before 3 is finished, they will shut down the attraction (which has never happened, has it?) for a month or so before 3 opens and do a re-launching of the attraction?

I'm surprised that it hasn't been suggested to run both movies at the same location. To the right, Soarin' over California; to the left, Soarin' Over the World.

I'd probably ride it twice per trip.

But then what about FastPass? Where do they go? One or the other? Do you get to choose or is it random which theater you go in? I think there are too many variables to allow that to happen.

The only solution would be to randomize it, which wouldn't really be to popular for people who wait in line 2 hours to see the new film and end up getting the California version.

Not seeing where this may have already been posted, but here's the Soarin' Expansion construction update as of Aug 5th...

It's going to take time to replace the projection system and reprogram the ride to the new film, not to mention how they plan to connect the new building with the existing one. Don't expect it to happen over night, and some Guests may be in for a big disappointment at the beginning of the year if they do it the way I've heard they will do it. I'm just not sure how the park will be able to take it.

Just what they need to keep the wait time down. Have everyone ride it twice. Not surprising at all.

The park handled Test Track being down for 8 months or so in 2012 and it survived. The only difference is Maelstrom is down too, which will make the hurt a bit worse.
