Soarin' Expansion and new Soarin' Around the World film

I heard similar numbers, and from blue sky concepts being tossed around, it looks like Disney is slowly accepting that the MK simply needs a couple more attractions—you know, the same conclusion fans have been insisting for a decade.

Remember, FLE simply replaced existing attractions. The upcoming SC in Adventureland is replacing an old restaurant. The MK had LOWER annual attendance when those old attractions and restaurants were shuttered, which means no true capacity has been added.

Reopen the Diamond Horseshoe with its original show, add an E ticket and two Ds, and the MK would be fairly complete.

Epcot, on the other hand, needs lots of love now. Maybe after DHS is fixed...

Glad they finally realize MK needs more. I know many here say it doesn't but it really does. Like you and many of us have said, New Fantasyland and the Skipper Canteen are just using space that held shuttered rides and restaurants. We really didn't/haven't "gained" a thing, just lost capacity.

I assume this is why they're tossing around the Frontierland expansion. Makes sense, it's really the area that could use a bit more although we all know Tomorrowland needs a refresh and I'd not complain if we got a mountain in Adventureland, but Frontierland could use an expansion. It's basically walking down a strip mall of generic stores with the Country Bears thrown in. The area around the river is nice and expansive but it needs to be a little more fleshed out like the other areas are.

For Tomorrowland, now that we're getting Toy Story Land, I think Buzz needs to go. Time for a new concept.

Don't put too much faith in the FrL rumors.

Good to know. I knew nothing had even been close to greelit so my expectations were to expect nothing. Looks like I was right to not. Hopefully we get those few extra rides the MK needs anyway.

No exact date was released for the new film debut yesterday at D23 (only 2016)... When do you think we'll see the new film open at Epcot? I'm thinking (and hoping!) for Summer 2016. What are your thoughts?

After it débuts in Shanghai first, then it will open in DCA and Epcot. Current plans is to have the new theater open with the old show until Shanghai opens then they will switch to the new show. But as everyone knows, plans can change but that is the current plan.

When does Shanghai open?

Ugh, why does DCA get the new Soarin too
What possible difference does it make? We've been running with the same film in both places now for years. If any Soarin attraction needs a boost it is DCA's. If I recall they are having to add an new theater in Epcot. That doesn't show a need for anything new. It would be so nice if the illogical thought that things cannot exist on the west as well as the east coast. It is just unjustifiable that there is any form of problem with the duplication. Honestly, it's similar to the "my dad can beat up your dad argument."
There is 3000 miles separating the two. The same people do not attended them both on a regular basis.

Soar over the world at Epcot.
Soar over the world at a national park in California?

While I'd rather have a new CA film, Soarin over the World in DCA really isn't a stretch IMO. It's an airfield after all, I imagine aircrafts in a giant hangar wouldn't solely be traveling in state.

Thats one of the reasons, but really i just think that the original soarin video fits DCA so much better than the world version which fits Epcot way better.

That helicopter pilot filming the Great Wall of China is a nut. I figured they'd have a different configuration that would raise/lower the camera rigging according to the terrain they were filming... not bouncing the entire aircraft around like a yoyo.
