Yeaaa, that was BAD on my part haha. I guess the projects were so similar that in my mind I was desperately looking for stuff to differentiate the two. So I got the idea in my head of this being essentially a spin-off of Dino Land with the cheesy science/edu-tainment angle. I promise you Space will have WAY better feedback in SA than anything I can offer. ;)

Can't wait to see the rest of the projects. I'll most likely be doing something similar to last week and doing an announcement video late tonight about who made it into the Final Two followed by detailed written feedback tomorrow and a more long-form podcast over the weekend with video reviews...hopefully with Pi as a co-host this time if he's back from Spring Break. ;)

I should be back set up Sunday night. But I understand if you'd want to get it up before then.

Ever wanted to scour the High Seas in search of treasure? Well, at Disney's Pirate's Cove Water Park, the swashbuckling adventures can be yours for the taking. Fittingly located across the street from Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Pirate's Cove brings to life the adventure and intrigue of the pirating days of yore.

location 2.png

BACKSTORY
Taking full use of the MyMagic+ system, you can take part in a full-fledged storyline.

According to local legend, the pirate Black Barty stumbled across Pirates' Cove on one of his many sojourns across the sea. It was a dark, cruel jungle, infested with all of the great dangers pirates could face: alluring sirens, deadly sea creatures, undead skeletons, all the stuff we've seen in the swashbuckling films of yore. But with these daunting trials came a reward unlike any other: the most glorious treasure any pirate could lay eyes on; a treasure that defies logic and description. It's a treasure that all pirates dream of claiming for themselves: Jewels of the Nile, rubies of the Mediterranean, pearls from the Red Sea, the weight of an average man in gold! Such wonderful treasures are rewarded to those who are able to survive the perils of the island, and Black Barty is challenging us to see if we can claim that treasure for ourselves. Are we up for the challenge? Are we brave enough to take on the perils of Pirates' Cove and emerge with the treasure? Let's find out.

THE OUTPOST
All visits to Pirates' Cove begin and end at the Outpost; inhabited by decaying old island-houses. Strolling past this sorry excuse for a township, we pass by collapsed structures, dilapidated houses and converted storehouses.

Shanghai-Disneyland-Treasure-Cove-Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-1-8.jpg

The Island Depot serves as our major stop for sundries, beachwear and souvenirs. Nearby, the Port Royal Bank, ransacked and rotted--the source of many a robbery--serves as our stop for locker rentals; as well as towel and umbrella rentals. The Grotto Tavern recalls the drama and excitement of an authentic “pirate tavern,” complete with crooked card games, mountains of rum, and the orange light of flickering lanterns. This is the place to go for hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. In a hidden alcove within the tavern is the Dive Bar, where adults can go to sneak a little rum. Lafitte's Landing offers some of the finest pizza on the High Seas; while The Oasis serves ice cream and other cold specialties: perfect when hot days come by the Cove.
On the edge of "town", where the lagoon meets the island, is Black Barty's Shack. This is where we go in order to start our quest and take on Black Barty's challenge. Here, a Cast Member will give us a map marking all the trials and tribulations we need to overcome in order to get our hands on the treasure. How do we checkpoint our progress? At the end of each trial, there's a checkpoint we need to touch our MagicBands to signify our progress. Once we've checkpointed all the trials, we are led towards the coveted Treasure Chamber.

THE JOURNEY
Once past the Shack, we find ourselves standing before Pirates' Cove. For us landlubbers that are still hesitant to take on the trials of the Cove, we can get a good look around the Cove via Coward's Creek, one of the few, shall we say, "calm" aspects of the mysterious island. This lazy-river takes us through the cove, passing by most of its unique landmarks.

But for those who are brave and strong enough, let us forge on. In order to get to Pirates' Cove itself, we first must pass through Shipwreck Bay. If the name isn't any indication, this is where massive waves defy any explorers passage, sending towering waves crashing towards any mortal foolish enough to stand in its way. Various shipwrecks dot the bay; victims of the Bay's tyrannical reign. Without a doubt, this is the world's largest wave pool, generating the largest waves of any pool of its kind. At the farthest edge of the Bay is a rickety wooden bridge, barely kept together by frayed strings. This is our entry point into...

PIRATES' COVE
Rendering-1992-1024x588.jpg
At last, our grand adventure begins! Thundering waterfalls, unkempt forests, crumbling shipwrecks, and mysterious caverns craft the mystical, well-traversed realm of Pirates' Cove; a steamy jungle teeming with dark secrets, secrets that only we can uncover. It is here where we'll be tested to see if we have what it takes to uncover the elusive treasure.

Docked on the edge of the island is Black Barty's Galleon, a full-size replica of the pirate ships from days past. This is the ship Black Barty sailed upon to reach Pirates' Cove. Young marauders can scarper from port to starboard and inspect the cannons, and even use them to "open fire" on unfortunate victims as they sail along Coward's Creek. But these brave buccaneers mustn't let their guard slip for a second, as pesky pirates will have them walking the plank in no time at all! Built just a few feet away is the Neverland Pool, a replica of the Disneyland Hotel original. This pool basically serves the same principle as Tike's Peak or Ketchakiddee Creek; offering something for little ones to do.

neverland_publicity2005disney.jpg

Most of the trials of Pirates' Cove center around Dead Man's Peak, a jagged mountain range where many brave buccaneers have tried and failed to get to the treasure. Dead Man's Peak itself sits dead-center, dominating the skyline ominously.

latest

Trust me: the reference to "Once Upon a Time" is entirely coincidental. I've never seen this show before.

THE TRIALS
There are seven trials we must overcome in order to reach the treasure...

163.png

No, not the Seven Trials of Monkey Lagoon; the Seven Trials of Pirates' Cove. Besides, the Monkey Lagoon trials barely count as trials. If you want real piratical trials, stop by here and stake your luck.
Anyways, the first trial here is Keelhaul Key, a twisting water-slide through an open-air cavern maze of beached vessels and volcanic bluffs, where decayed timbers and sand-kissed barnacles create a haunting, sub-aquatic atmosphere. "Keelhauling" was a form of piratical punishment, wherein the punished was dragged through the water under the keel of a ship, either across the width or from bow to stern. Overcoming Keelhaul Kay will certainly make you feel like that! The Leap of Faith is the second trial; three different slides, three different outcomes. Which one will you choose? The Marooner is the largest outdoor water-slide in Pirates' Cove, taking guests for a ride through the island, dodging trees and skeletal remains left and right. If you're brave enough to tackle this third trial

Heading inside the mountain range itself, you'll find a series of indoor water-slides. Setting itself apart from other water parks, Pirates' Cove offers unique, indoor experiences, allowing for more immersive, and more chilling and thrilling, water-slide experiences, utilizing unique projections and animatronics. Such an example is the fourth trial of Pirates' Cove: The Grotto of Lost Souls. In this revolutionary water-coaster experience, we set off through a vast labyrinth of subterranean caverns and paths of ghostly catacombs. Lush waterfalls pour down into underground pools thru jagged fissures in the rocks alongside glistening crystals, stalagmites, and stalactites. The skeletal victims of an ancient sea battle still thrive here, eager to once again fight. Watch out--they may get you next! Our frightening journey through the Grotto finds us caught in the middle of a raging hurricane.

800px-Water_slide_bowl_attraction.jpg

The hurricane is achieved by using the typical "bowl" element common to most water slides, but with the added element of projections and sound-effects. We hear the eternal, ethereal howl of a hurricane as projections make us feel as if we are being tossed about on the seas. And in the center of it all is the hurricane itself, towering tall and ominous. We succumb to the hurricane and end up falling into a cenote. Amazingly, we are still alive and still eager to take on the rest of the trials.

You know how some water coasters start slow then become nothing but drops, lifts and sharp turns? That's the story behind Siren's Lair, our fifth trial. It starts off innocently enough: a calm tube ride through the caverns of Dead Man's Peak. Mysterious shapes run past beneath the surface of the surrounding waters, perhaps being sharks or some other fish. The haunting refrain of “My Jolly Sailor Bold” rings out as we come eye-to-eye with the skeletal remains of a perished mermaid, bound and tied to the wreckage of a small skiff. If the name was not any indication, this is indeed the land of the mermaids. But these mermaids aren't like Ariel...oh, no. If you remember On Stranger Tides, you'll know these mermaids are quite fierce creatures, ever watchful for a bite to eat. And this time, that bite is you.

We careen wildly through the caverns of Siren's Lair, desperate to escape the man-eating clutches of the mermaids. Utilizing animatronic jump-scares and strange projections, this may prove to be one of the hardest trials we'll have to face at Pirates' Cove.

Moving on, the scares are far from over, as is shown by the sixth trial: The Point of No Return, where many of the brave pirates who have tried to reach the treasure were met with a watery grave. This is Disney's most audacious water-coaster to date; combining water-coaster thrills, projections and the biggest, most-advanced and first-ever water-proof animatronic that Disney has ever created (more on that later).

The trial starts off slow, just like the Sirens' Lair, creeping past skeletal remains of the pirates who failed to reach the treasure. The mood is dark and ominous. But suddenly, the caverns are filled with the bright shine of gold. Could it be? Yes! Yes, it could! It's the treasure of Pirates' Cove! We didn't need to complete the trials after all!

But, alas, it is a clever ruse. As we inch closer and closer towards the treasure, we suddenly drop down deeper and deeper into the caverns. Once again, we careen through the caverns, facing certain doom with every drop, until at last, we come across the cavern of...the Kraken.

latest

The Kraken, as formidable as he was in Dead Man's Chest, may be the greatest animatronic ever created by Disney. His tentacles try to grab at us as we circle around his lair, his giant mouth trying to swallow us. Escaping through a hole in his lair, we prepare to escape, only to come face-to-face once again with the Kraken's maw. Fortunately, another drop saves us from a trip to Davy Jones' locker. We have survived.

All that's left to do is tackle the final trial of Pirates' Cove, and then, that treasure will be ours! And that trial is at the very top of Dead Man's Peak. It's a little something called Dead Man's Leap, the steepest water slide in Disney history! Dare to take this final "leap of faith", and you will be rewarded. Slide down Dead Man's Peak, and you'll emerge in a pool far away from Pirates' Cove. Just touch your MagicBand against the final checkpoint, and a Cast Member will lead you to your reward.

THE TREASURE CHAMBER
582a3ce86c01eb0d16bafea1fdca299c.jpg

Imagine, my friends: standing before you is every kind of treasure that a pirate could ask for. Mountains of gold doubloons, jewelry, pieces of eight, rubies, pearls, all that wonderful stuff pirates have collected. Secluded from the rest of Pirates' Cove, the Treasure Chamber is the ultimate reward for all our hard-earned work and sacrifice. Trust me: after facing seven of the deadliest and dangerous scourges ever to sail the Seven Seas, wouldn't you want a little something in return?

Although most of the treasures are just for show, there are still things we can collect and keep for ourselves: pirate gear, skulls, toy ships, ships-in-bottles, gold doubloon chocolates, candies, all sorts of unique pirate-related goods that we can hoard. But keep in mind: if you want to see the glory of the Treasure Chamber for yourself, you must overcome all Seven Trials. And don't think they can rat out liars: the MagicBand keeps track of how many trials you have completed. The only exception is for little children, who have yet to reach the height limit. They are allowed to come inside and take a few things for themselves, as well.

So, there we have it: Disney's Pirate's Cove Water Park, a new form of water park that ties its attractions together for one coherent story, and actively makes guests part of that story. Who wouldn't love the concept of going down water-slides in the hopes of getting some free merch? Truth be told, I know next to nothing about water parks, so I hope I did a good job with this concept.

(Picking up after attendees have just gotten a final sneak peek into Star Wars Galaxy's Edge that is nearing opening in Disneyland and a few months down the road in Disney World)
{Bob Iger speaking}
So who's looking forward to Galaxy's Edge? I hear some of you have already been trying to get in line. (pauses for pity laughter)

Well we aren't done talking about Star Wars just yet. (applause from the crowd). There's this little thing called Hyperspace Falls we told you guys about just a little over a year ago. Now we are about 9 months from opening and we've got some exciting details and information on what you can expect in the water park in a galaxy, far, far away.

I'm going to let our Parks & Rec Chairman, Bob Chapek fill you in.

Thanks Bob.
I know when this was first announced, there was all kinds of speculation as to how do you do a Star Wars water park, where would it be and why. Well, we're going to show and tell you a little about it, but we'll leave the rest of the exploration to you.

This is the moon of Chenkorra. Not famous for anything really, though most of you are probably familiar with its sister moon Endor. Each of them are part of the nine moons that surround the planet of Endor.
Moons copy.jpg
So brief history recap. Return of the Jedi. Endor. Ewoks. Major Battle. Shield grid. Death Star destroyed. Peace restored to the galaxy and everyone goes home right? Well, this is a pretty big galaxy and you don't stop the fight overnight as we've seen throughout the films. This is even true for the system in the immediate vicinity of this escalation.

After the Death Star is destroyed, the Rebels work with the Ewoks to protect the planet from falling debris and cleaning up any remaining Storm Troopers. But what about Chenkorra?

This is where Hyperspace Falls picks up. Like Endor, its a moon, but instead of the thick forest home to Ewoks, it's filled with lush jungles, mountains and water. Lots of water. It's also so close to Endor and the battle on the Death Star, guess where some of that wreckage ends up?

As it turns out, Chenkorra was a maintenance planet of sorts for the Empire. They stored quite a few replacement vehicles, like AT-AT's, tie-fighters, etc. Now after 15 years, you have this debris from the Death Star, crashed vehicles from the fighting and stored tech that is slowly being taken over by the jungle.

At the opening of Hyperspace Falls, a new Rebel Outpost has been constructed on the moon, which will allow you to move around and explore all of battle, but also to experience all of the plant life, native species and thrills that the moon has to offer. Sounds like fun right?

So that's all we can share with you today, but when you visit Hyperspace falls, you'll have the opportunity to see and experience so much more. This will really be a truly immersive water theme park experience. And note, this is for young and old. There is a variety of attractions here that the whole family can enjoy.

One of the great things as well, we're taking great pains to make you feel like you are not at a water park. All of the slides and tubes will be incorporated into the landscaping and debris. All of the features will be built and colored to seamlessly blend in with the environment.

So who's ready to go to Hyperspace Falls? Oh, wait, I think there was one more thing we wanted to show you all.
Map copy.jpg

Now this isn't everything, but you get a sense a little for the scale and scope of this park. That sure looks like chunks of the Death Star on that mountain doesn't it? Thank you all for coming and we look forward to seeing you on Chenkorra.

plot 70 acres.JPG
25 acres will be set aside for future expansion to either the water park or via new resort entertainment offerings. Using this location puts it right in the heart of the Walt Disney World grounds, and spaces it out from the other 2 water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

Getting There
There will be ample parking for resort and non-resort guests. Drop-off/pick-up options will also be added to the regular bus routes in addition to the Minnie Van service. Long term planning calls for potential Monorail stop in the vicinity with themed transport to/from the park once additional development is started in the same corridor across from the old speedway.

Entrance
Arriving to Hyperspace Falls, guests will be greeted by a newer and sleeker set of buildings, representing the new rebel outpost that has recently been constructed. This will be in contrast to the jungle, mountains and ruins that will permeate the rest of the park These structures will contain the entry/exit paths into the park, ticketing, management office and other backstage necessities. The outpost will spill out into a courtyard/landing spot setting where guests will have the chance at a few photo ops with a Rebel ship or two that is docked for takeoff.

Dining options
The park will be serviced by 3 quick service restaurants, each with their own distinctive offerings. Numerous drink refill stations and snack/dessert carts will also be placed strategically around the park blending into the setting.

-The Outer Rim
Serving numerous sandwiches and snacks from around the galaxy, this joing won't be too far from the Rebel outpost if you are needing a bite on your way in or out, or you've just been catching some saves.

-Imperial Eats
Serving numerous typical theme park food including hotdogs, chicken, fries and other assorted fried foods, you'll dine in what was once the maintenance crew's cafeteria of the abandoned storage facility. -Kessel Inn
If you are looking for a little variety and adventure in your meal, this will be the place to go. Taking its cue from Satu'li Canteen, this spot will be a step up in your culinary journey both in variety and theme. Leaning more on the healthier side, you can enjoy a number of dishes that will entice your taste buds and reflect the environs around you.

Park Highlights
Exploring Chenkorra
Hyperspace Falls is not just about water slides and wave pools. It's also about the opportunity to explore the grounds and to see what nooks and crannies you can find. Was or is there life on this moon and what are those strange markings leading toward the creek?
Guests will find plenty of paths to walk and sightsee while taking a break from the rigors of water sports action.

Following are just a few of the many rides and experiences you can expect in the park.

Smugglers Run & Cove
What's more enticing than a moon with no defenses or known colonies to speak of, in a prime location for stashing or hiding out? A moon with all of that and an abundance of Imperial tech and leftover battle debris ripe for smuggling.

Free Fall.JPG
Guests can lounge their day away in this secluded cove with a familiar shape, enjoying their spoils and resting up for their next adventure. Or, if things heat up and they want to see who really is the fastest smuggler around, they can test their mettle on Smugglers Run. This straightforward drop slide will send riders speeding straight down into the waters of Smugglers Cove below.

Chenkorran Tides
Chenkorran Tides will be the largest and most dramatic feature of the park. This 3 acre wave pool sits at the base of a large mountain structure with falls cascading down into the waters below. At its peak, large distinctive chunks of the familiar Death Star have perched themselves atop the mountain.

With the appearance and disappearance of Death Star II, Chenkorra's rotation and gravity have been thrown slightly off causing periodic tremors on the moon that generate the large waves in the tidal pool.

AT-AT Aqueduct
Among the vehicles left behind by the Imperials were a number of AT-AT's not yet placed into battle. Most of them have been destroyed, however a few remain in various conditions and with the explosions and natural changes in the terrain, a few of them are channeling large amounts of water through their bodies.

Riders on this experience will ride with the natural flow of the water before the climatic drop through the AT-AT and out of it's head into the waiting pool below.

Rebel Training Ground
Built for the rebel troops in training, this large scale kids play area will be a big hit with its numerous water features, mini slides, and Star Wars décor.

Rafting the Wreckage
Overlooking the whole of Hyperspace Falls from above the falls, you make your way inside the wreckage of the Death Star that has settled here. Joining 3 of your bravest friends, you'll raft your way through the wreckage, seeing first hand the scale and scope of the Empire's ultimate weapon. I certainly hope none of those wires and machines are still active.

Ranging from slow slides to take in the surroundings, to hairpin turns/slides up enormous walls, this will be an experience you won't soon forget.

Flow with the Force
The lazy river experience of the park, Flow with the Force will take you around the majority of the park through serene jungle scenes and small waterfalls. Many of the areas you wind through are only visible from this attraction.

Stay awake though. This is a ride you'll want to sleep your way through. After a fairly light hearted portion of your trip, you notice the jungle canopy getting thicker and thicker, until you eventually find yourself floating through the inside of the ruins of what looks to be an old temple.

What is this place?

Additional Park Design and Construction
Proslide - various attractions
Aquatic Development Group - wave pool
Aquaworx - on sight maintenance/construction assistance

We hope you enjoy your visit to Hyperspace Falls!

(Picking up after attendees have just gotten a final sneak peek into Star Wars Galaxy's Edge that is nearing opening in Disneyland and a few months down the road in Disney World)
{Bob Iger speaking}

Now this isn't everything, but you get a sense a little for the scale and scope of this park. That sure looks like chunks of the Death Star on that mountain doesn't it? Thank you all for coming and we look forward to seeing you on Chenkorra.

Park info
Location
The park will be situated on 45 acres of a 70 acre plot just off Vista Blvd in between Vista and Epcot Center Dr. on the useable portion of that plot of land. Road upgrades will be made to handle the additional car and bus traffic in/out of the park.

Quick and easy choices for dining where your biggest choice being if you want your Blaster Burger on white or wheat.

View attachment 270151 Guests can lounge their day away in this secluded cove with a familiar shape, enjoying their spoils and resting up for their next adventure.

Pix Presents:
Art of Animation Water Park
A Purest Prompt

Art of Animation resort is one of the best places I have had the pleasure to stay at with some of the best memories attached to it for me and therefore is a resort I have a nice connection too. So for this purest prompt I have taken Art of Animation (right under the line for what is considered a value resort) and added a small but adventure filled water park with a focus on family fun!

For any who don't know, Art of Animation is split into 4 different areas; The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. Following suit I have used the same four movies in my waterpark. This water park will follow a very simple layout to keep everything compartmentalized and to cut down on excess costs needed to “blend” everything together so you don’t see the other areas by simply providing hard clean lines. A (very very rough) map drawn by me is provided below to give you an idea of how things are laid out.

IMG_20180313_204633.jpg

Now as you noticed there are only 3 areas shown, because Cars is represented in both the lazy river that winds around the perimeter with stops in each “land” (not to mention the car tire themed inner tubes) as well as the red circle in the center that is the 2 quick service locations (talked about later on) surrounded by Cozy Cone Cabanas for guests to relax and recharge.

Cozy Cone concept art by mickey_the_mouse6 (a.k.a. The cutest 6 year old on the planet and my brother, who made up his own user name to be like his sister for the web page)

Now, the first area we will talk about is The Oasis. The Oasis is The Lion King themed area based around the mini hideaway where Timon and Pumba raise Simba. The ride here will be a set of twin body slides called Hakuna and Matata racers. Because even with no worries, a little friendly competition can be fun.

The next area is the Finding Nemo area that houses two attractions. The first being an enclosed family raft ride where guests will board there Crush Raft, grab tight to their exit buddy, and speed down the EAC dude. The second being a kiddie friendly sea anemone splash pad play area decorated around Nemo’s home.

IMG_20180313_204645.jpg

The last and biggest area is The Seven Seas. This area will house six simple water slides with 3 on each side of a wave pool based on Ariel herself. There will not be much variation in the slides beyond hight and type, and of course color to keep things simplistic. The 6 slides are meant to represent each of Ariel’s sisters, being differentiated by the colors of their tails, being red, orange, yellow, blue, purple and pink. (Green being skipped as that is Ariel’s tail color)

Arista, Attina, and Adella, being red orange and yellow will be three solo inner tube slides such as the trio of slides at Typhoon Lagoon with differentiating highs based on the sisters ages.

Aquata, Andrina and Alana, being blue purple and pink will be on the other side of the wave pool and will be smaller and more child friendly as you will be sliding down using mats instead of inner tubes almost like your sledding.

In the center of these slides will be Ariels wave pool, mostly just used for relaxing and chilling out while waiting for the more adventurous to splash down from the slides.

In the center will be two small QSR stands, as well as a self serve soda fountain for guests with refillable cups from the resort. The first stand will be called the Ink Dip, and will feature mini corn dogs, chicken nuggets, and fries as well as mini churros for dessert with a moderate array of sauces on a painters pallet shaped tray. The second will be the Paint Mixer, which will serve both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

This mini water park will be cost friendly and smaller scale as well as exclusive to resort guests (primarily Art of Animation, but will allow guest from any on property resort during busy months to do some crowd control with the other two water parks.)
