So where do we stand???

I don't particularly care for DinoLand either. To me it's a great place to walk through on my way to something else.

Hey, don't lump Dinorama in with the rest of Dinoland...

When Dinoland first opened, it had great theming and one of the best and most-developed backstories in the park, perhaps all of WDW. It was a very coherent (albeit quirky) story. They even had streetmosphere actors for the first year or two.

But when they decided to add the carnival rides and theming of Dinorama, even though they worked it into the overall "storyline" of the pre-existing land, everything went to hell.

Yup, it's such a shame that they destroyed such a greatly themed land with a big lump of crap.:hurl:

Streetmosphere is one of my favorite parts of any Disney park, and I think 2 places in DAK could really use it: Zerka Zong and Dinoland.

I'd love to see the Star Tours update, JYI 3.0 with Dreamfinder, and the Monster Inc. Coaster. From what I find on here that 1 and 3 are pretty far along in the works with JYI 3.0 up in the air. Personally, I would love to see the expansion of the Monorail but I just don't see it happening. Imagine how much resort prices would go up if it did. LOL.

What I don't understand is why they don't build a simpler wedway type people mover that forms a loop from DHS to the International Gateway at Epcot that passes by all of the Epcot resorts. If it was electric it would be quiet enough and it would have to be cost effective because they could raise room prices accordingly and eliminate some bus services.

In this case I really am hoping that Journey To The Center Of The Earth is brought to DAK. From what I have seen this ride could stomp on EE a hundred of times over. I really don't get this whole Beastly Kingdom appeal as it sounds and looks like it will be a rip off of The Lost Continent over in Islands Of Adventure. Mysterious Island would definitely get my approval as the new land in DAK. JIYI v.3 need to really become v.4 soon, too.

Except Beastly Kingdomme was an idea before IOA opened. Beastly Kingdomme would have been incredibly detailed, and truly a Disney-type land.

I agree. Especially since they had Dino-Sue (actual dinosaur fossils) there and a scientific team cleaning and preserving the artifacts. It gave a real "EPCOT Center" feeling to the place.:lookaroun But of course it got "dumbed down" ( like Epcot has) for the "unwashed masses":):(

I kinda dig Dinorama.
(Pun not intended, but welcome...)

Anyhoo...
No Australia. Joe already said that wasn't in the plan.
No Beastlie as originally planned.
Mysterious Island-ish kinda land....:lookaroun

Where did Mr. Rhodes say that Australia wasn't in the plan? It was planned in the early development plans I saw - and this was before Rafiki's Planet Watch was planned.

Ish? Let me guess, no 20K.

And I've heard Beastly is a possibility without Dragon Tower, which is a real shame.

Beastly doesn't get built without Dragon Tower imho... then again, I don't see Beastly being built in the near future.

Oh, I haven't heard it as anything that would happen in the near future. But I've heard that is if it is built, Dragon Tower won't be.

And I agree that BK shouldn't be built without DT.

Well whoever told you that is just telling you conjecture, because there aren't any current plans to green light a BK area in AK in the near future, and since there aren't any concrete plans, anything is possible. Who's to say that ten years down the road AK needs another big E-Ride like Everest which is Dragon Tower? Twenty years down the road?

Good to hear that was bad info. I heard it about a year ago, and from not one of my best sources. Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't know of any official statement from Mr. Rohde, but several people, including me, have heard him say it wasn't happening.
Granted, it was three or four years ago when I heard him say it, but I distinctly recall him explaining that the animals of Australia, other than perhaps the kangaroo, were all too small to dedicate an entire land to.
His statement was something on the order of "All the animals there are only this big (holding his hands about a foot apart)."

Both Australia and BK were determined to be potential expansion areas prior to construction (Australia was nixed much earlier on). I'm not sure what, if any, rides and/or exhibits were planned for Australia, but the northern parcel still sits empty and the entrance area is currently used for Rafiki's Planet Watch train and Flights of Wonder. It is so important for future development that Everest was built with full theming facing that direction so that once the area is developed the Everest building will still be mountain-esque from that viewpoint.

Joe Rohde (who's name I typically ) was a key player in determining which areas would be implemented (except in the case of BK which was a budget decision), and I suppose he must have been against developing the Australia plan. However, I can assure you it still remains a plan for development in the future, as do a revamped BK and an Arctic exhibit/attraction (not sure about the location for that one).

How convienient. Dinoland is a small land. Dingoes, wombats, koalas  and tazmanian devils would all be a fun.

And platypus too!

And crocs!

Joe Rohde told me years ago that BK was DEAD as in not happening then, now nor ever.

He did say that didn't mean more mythical creatures (a la Yeti) and areas wouldn't be built. Just that the old concept of BK was headed to the Western River Expedition, Discovery Bay, Rock Candy Mountain pile of fanboi dreams dashed to forever be rehashed on fan sites.

Joe never ruled out an Australian area to me, although he mentioned two other areas geographically that he seemed higher on. Both are considerably closer ...
