So we're exactly 3 years away from WDW's 40th. When do they start prepping?

Now does that mean that they can't start building them until 2011 or that they can't open them until 2011? :D

No idea, but I would guess can't open them until then, which would mean they can build them now--though I'm sure there's gotta be some legalese even about announcing them.

Please, no jokes about Raging Spirits, either. Worst coaster ever. Don't let the pretty facade fool anyone.

Coincidence?
I think not.

I will be blown all kinds of away if Disney brings some attraction(s) from Tokyo Disneysea to florida for the 40th. rather than go with the usual "relatively inexpensive cartoon tie-in or overlay".

I would of course be thrilled and would then renew my AP and start spending more time at WDW but to me it seems very unlikely that wdw managers, corporate accountants, and even some of the imagineers (coughteamfitzgeraldcough) would go for it. I hope someone isnt messing wtih you.

Crap...why beat around the bush?
Ride = Mermaid. Pretty much a done deal.

Expansion = AK. Bulldozers and whatnot, coming in '09.

:D
Sure. Stuff could be opening in 2015, that's possible I suppose.
But...I was told flat-out: "Dirt will start moving at Animal Kingdom next year."
Others here can confirm.

Still trying to dig out all the details.

That was almost too easy :lookaroun
Thanks for the info

I think Mysterious Island would be a cool addition to AK. My only problem with it would be, how would it fit into the Animal Kingdom. I mean I don't know what you could really do to promote animals there. If it doesnt promote animals, it will really be out of place I think. But what ever happens will happen.

Perhaps it will be a new land of mysterious and mythical animals:lookaroun

I could fit in to the animals theme... "Journey" is a ride about how you're part of some scientific team (Captin Nemo's, not the fish!) that are trying to find new plant species ( glow-y mushrooms, etc.) and animal life (there are some glow-y animals there too. Like little tiny glowing bugs) in the center of the earth. That's why (you can see this in all of the shizzey online videos) they're all marked with little tags and signs. Then of course you go off the track and "something goes horribly wrong!" You go past parts of the center of the earth never seen before, and therefore they don't have little signs from now on. There's a canyon of lightning in the distance and a lightning bolt even almost hits you! Then, coming up to the biggest "animal" in the ride, there's a blast of fire. You turn that way and you hear a loud, peircing screech on the other side of the vehicle. It's a ginormous lava monster! You hightail it out of there, following an upward path (you ARE in the center of the earth; the only way to escape is up!) and you finally burst out of the mountain!

The subs are pretty self-explanitory in the animal department, of course there are fish, the squid, and in the version ot TDS, a huge city of mer-people that help you ecsape the wrath of a sea creature!

Or what jt04 said.

I see what your saying. I guess it could work.

Take it easy, folks.
I wouldn't want ya'll to get all fired up for something that may be 3-5 years out.
Sure, it's a good sign, but moving dirt is only a beginning point. Don't start planning attractions yet...at least not until some more info trickles in.

But speculation is all part of the fun. You want to see how much steam your random guess gathers until it's a full fledged rumor.

Example:
LOLZ! OMG! Did you here they are combining Journey to the Center of the Earth and 20,000 Leagues into a water coaster!?

Wow, that's RIDICULOUS. You're WRONG.

It's starring Johnny Depp and Eppie Murphy.

And Ellen Degeneres. As Captain Nemo.

Yep.
