So are we to assume that nothing new is coming to AK or Epcot until atleast 2014?

Disney now has one new attraction for the next few years.

2010 - Nothing announced so probably just more refurbs
2011 - Star Tours 2
2012 - Fantasyland / Mermaid
2013 - Pixie Hollow
2014 - ???

I would not count it out of the possibility that there could be something for these parks. Eventhough the economy is sagging, Disney is making good use of a time in which it can get favorable contracts with construction companies and other vendors to complete major projects, so it would not suprise me if they did other things as well.

Maybe 2010 will be the year we get new Parades and Firework Shows. Doubt it, but it would be nice.

I'm guessing that if anything was to come to AK it would be that Mythical Island (just calling it that since there are so many different names) and if that were to come my guess is it wouldn't be until 2014 or 2015. Maybe they'll announce something at next years Expo though.

My concern is that since WDW got to steal the show at this years Expo, they wouldn't let WDW have it a second year in a row.

God bless the "Ignore" button.

Actually I'd say HKDL won this year. I wasn't paying that close of attention, but seeing as how they got three new lands, and we just (and I use "just" very loosely) got an expansion/refurb of FL and ST2...

Depends on how Uni responds. Had we not had Uni making the Harrypotterville changes, we would not be seeing anything of this scale.

True but they needed it far more than us.

I'd say that statement is accurate (I don't even think you need the loosely clause). I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, and I'm actually VERY excited about the expansions/additions, but it's still just an expansion of a land to include 1 ride and a bunch of M/Gs and a refurb of another ride. Compared to additions of new lands and such, this is nothing. I mean, the ST2 thing can be compared to the SM refurb starting to finish up right now.

While I agree with the statement on concept, it's all relative. WDW is made to be a World. The whole reason it was built was to be bigger and better than DL, and they bought enough land to do such. They put it in a small town because they wanted it to be its own attraction, not just in a suburb of a major US city.

While WDW offers so much to do already, there were concerns that needed to be addressed such as the lack of pandering to young women in the parks (and lack of pandering to young men on television -- see also, Marvel buyout).

I would not assume anything - much probably depends on how the economy improves - as in how fast it improves.

I would argue that the refurbs are almost as good as a new attraction too - especially in the cases of HM, HoP, and PotC.

I also doubt that DAK would go almost 7 years between additions (not refurbs, additions), or Epcot would go 9 years....would not make any sense.

I'm sure we'll see updates come to Imagination and Universe of Energy sooner rather than later, I just don't think those were changes big enough to sell at the expo.

Sadly, I do believe any big expansion at Animal Kingdom will have to wait until Fantasyland is finished.

Yeah, but these aren't just any ol' meet and greets. They're building a replica of Beast's castle with a restaurant and chateau/cottages for other princesses. From the looks of the artwork and leaked blueprints, it's a pretty extensive overhaul of Fantasyland. I am going to miss Mickey and Minnie's houses. I wish there were a way to keep those.

True. I am just saying that HKDL is pathetic in it's current form. These three lands are very necessary.

Other than California Adventure getting a massive upgrade and expansion over the next few years - basically blocking off portions of the park, it would be interesting to see major refurb projects taking place at all WDW parks at once - with the new expansion in Fantasyland / Toontown Fair closure, Imagination getting a makeover, some project at Animal Kingdom, and something at Hollywood Studios.

Wouldn't it restrict the flow of guests if major portions of WDW were walled off, or will there be the same amount of foot traffic to all of the parks because WDW is so expansive that even through the pixie dust, there still is a lot to do in WDW. Tomorowland with its Space Mountain refurb has, as many of our fellow WDWmagicers have said, created a "dead" land. Wonder how Fantasyland will still operate at WDW amid all the construction?

Personally, awaiting news of the re-opening of the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island, just like many of you on this board. It's been just about a year, lagging economy and all. If Disney is pumping all this expansion refurb funding at many of its parks across the globe, the Disney execs should have some consideration to throw some pixie dust at PI and re-open a few of the clubs, but that topic has been beaten a lot over the past year and a half.

Lastly, visiting WDW in December, and looking forward to the holiday season and decorations, but considering taking a break from WDW and Central Florida for a few years while all the expansion / refurb work progresses. A Disney cruise and/or trip to Europe might be in the plans for me in 2010-11. A taste of Disney, but through other avenues.

I don't expect anything 'major' anytime soon for either EPCOT or DAK. What should they build anyway?

FW is pretty much complete. I'd be happy if we got to see our refurbs, overhauls, and the finish of a certain previous refurb.
WS could really do with a new country or ride. Nobody seems to be willing to foot the bill.

Besides, EPCOT has already received its fair share of 'princess meet 'n greets plus landscaping' projects in recent years...:lookaroun

DAK will hopefully at some point get an entire new area, but precisely because of the scope and budget of the rumoured projects, I think this will wait until after 2011-12.

That's kinda how I feel, though we did just get back. I feel more compelled to try out Uni and SeaWorld next year. We'll see though - that may change when the winter doldrums hit here after the holidays.
