Snow to Hit Disney today?

I was out shooting the marathon yesterday and yes, we did have sleet for two or three hours with an occasional flurry here and there, but it was just that... underdeveloped rain! By 830 AM, it was all rain and everyone running and working the race became miserable, but that ended when the racers crossed the finish line.

We tried to get video of the sleet/snow coming down, but it honestly looked like rain as it was happening before sunrise and you had to shoot at a light to see it. NOTHING accumulated on the ground.

As for the afternoon, it was just cloudy, cold (temps in the mid 30's) and windy. I had some friends over at MK and Epcot, they said it was dead. Soarin' had a 25 min standby.

We did see a lot of tourists at the malls and outlets getting cold weather gear, but honestly, when you're on vacation, don't you somehow always end up buying clothing for your trip while you're there? I'm sure people were buying more than they wanted to stay warm, but it happens.

The good news, the sun is out today, we're getting up to 45 here in Orlando and we'll be back in the 70's by Friday!

I know! I'm one of the few who isn't in the band either.

I think you guys will bounce back though. It's always one perfect season- 1-3 bad seasons- perfect season- 1-3 bad seasons. You catch my drift lol

Are you affected by this rezoning?

 Maybe.

I might be affected by the rezoning, unfortunately.

I would love to see it snow in Naples, just dont think that will happen, the rain has moved out fo the night and not to sure if it will get cold enough tonight. You can count on frost/ice on cars, lawns, grass and yes alot of dead iguanas! I have 2 iguanas that run through my backyard, they are about 4 feet long, a little unnerving.

I saw on CNN the other day that the iguanas aren't dead...their bodies just go into some sort of hibernation that makes them appear dead (they fall out of the trees) until the temps go back up, and then they come back to life. It was a pretty freaky/fascinating story.

Yeah people are putting boxes under their trees so they won't fall n the ground and hurt themselves...

Don't know if they are the same, but here's a fun fact...
The "Spring Peepers", the little frogs that live throughout North America east of the Mississippi have glycerol in their blood streams. Kind of like radiator fluid, so they can survive the multiple freeze/thaw cycles that happen in the Spring in more Northern climes. They say (not that I have ever tried :lookaroun) that you can stick one in your freezer for a night and then reanimate it in the morning! If only I had known this when I was a kid!

Not if it is too cold for too long. It is difficult for them to recover and if it gets too cold, they won't. They are not native to Florida and therefore are not adapted to the winters. Their population has exploded because of mild winters but as things go back to normal most won't survive. And that is a blessing for the environment.

It is actions like these that makes me think WDW74 is right about the average person out there today. People have been wrapped in a cocoon of pure ignorance and nothing seems to penetrate that shell. Frightening.

I never said I was doing it, I just saw pics on the news. I personally thought it was kinda silly...

Pfft.

Come to Wisconsin if you want snow, we have mounds taller than buildings that are not going anywhere.

While I feel for the orange farmers losing their crops, I have to laugh at people who think 30-40 degrees is cold.

O ok...

The Miami Herald has posted a video of some animal resue people telling people how to save the iguanas and re-relase them into the wild to reek havoc on indigenous plants and animals. Some of which are highly endangered. These people are beyond ignorant to the point of being completely detached from reality. I'm afraid for the future.

OK- I'm done ranting about saving the planet. Thank mother nature for global cooling.

Gosh.. Im glad we didnt book our trip for this time of year. How disapointing to fly to florida in the winter and it be freezing cold. Although every morning here for the last couple weeks have been in the single digits.

Unfortunately, some people are more concerned with the welfare of the living creature in front of them than with how they got there and their impact on the larger ecosystem.

The human population will reach an obscene 9.7 billion by the middle of the next century, stretching natural resources to the breaking point. And I'll bet there will be bleeding heart morons who insist it's "wrong" to leave newborn infants to starve out in the cold or be eaten by wolves, when we all know they're just going to further contribute to the ravage of our planet. Honestly, there's no getting through to some people.

Jt, what is your proffession? And why does Bambi want to kill the pythons? Are you some kind of reptilian expert?

I was on Main Street at 6am when they opened for us Marathon cheerers. It was about 6:15 and the lights were on, the music was playing, and there were not very many people there at all. Then the snow/sleet started, and it was a moment I will never forget (I am a Floridian). It was totally cool to see real snow on Main Street!
