Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Preview Thoughts

Remeber, it is part of new fantasy land, fantasy land has and always will be about the kids. Kids are going to love this ride, and being a parent, I am going to enjoy it right along with them.

FANTASYLAND IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE "ABOUT THE KIDS!!!!" Where did you get that idea? Here's what Walt said about aiming Disney entertainment strictly at kids: You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.

And it sounds like you're excusing any weak offering as long as the "kids" like it. Kids have lousy taste, left to themselves. It's up to us adults to enrich and develop their taste. That's what a good Disney movie does, after all. :)

I liked it.

It's a little hard to tell, but did they reuse the dwarf figures from the old Snow White ride in the cottage scene?

A few of them were. According to WDWMagic's factsheet,
The figures of Grumpy, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, and Happy, seen in the cottage near the end of the attraction, originally appeared in Snow White’s Scary Adventure, a Magic Kingdom attraction now the site of Princess Fairytale Hall. The figures of Snow White, Dopey and Sneezy, in the cottage scene, were created for this attraction.

So thar'ya go. :D

I never said it was a "weak offering" just that the kids will enjoy it.

Fantasy land may not "suppose" to be about the kids, but do you ever really see disney putting in a thrill ride that they can't enjoy? It fits into the land perfectly and IMO done perfectly. A great starter coaster.

It was never supposed to be a thrill ride. It's a family coaster. It fits that bill.

It's a family coaster my kids won't ride.

Good going Disney! ;)

Kidding aside, it's a hybrid coaster/dark ride. But neither the coaster nor the dark ride elements are fully realized. I doubt it will fully satisfy those looking for a thrill or a traditional dark ride. It will basically be something to do. Every ride is someone's favorite. So I'm sure this ride will have it's fans. I just don't think too many people are going to be all that excited about it in two years when the novelty has worn off.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I think it turned out good. It's a beautiful area with a coaster that has a relatively broad appeal. Will I make a trip to go on it? Heck no. Is there any reason for it to take as long is it is taking? Absolutely not. But, it looks fun, and has some amusing technical gimmicks.

Even though I'm a fan of more intense roller coasters, I'm excited to check this one out. The views of New Fantasyland looked great from the ride.....& the new animatronics & side to side swinging of the cars are something new!

This is easily the best attraction out in years anywhere. The theming is perfect the new state of the art technos and AA is innovative and better but many steps, then any other parks, anywhere. It really is just plain amazing.

This may have started out as a D ticket, but what the imaginers have gone and gone is make it a E ticket.
Well done Disney......my family and I am sure millions of others are going to love this attraction.

P.S.....The coaster is the perfect family coaster, it was never meant to be like just another Uni thrill coaster, its fantasyland after all. If anyone wants the thrill coasters, Uni and 6 flags are a much better choices.

The thrill comes from the swinging cars. At the end of the day, I just don't know what people expected from this? We got the two show scenes we were promised, a swinging coaster, and excellent animatronics.

There's always going to be a "woulda coulda shoulda" (and I have a few of my own thoughts I've expressed on what else could be done). And it was never meant to be a Potter Swatter (an awful term, by the way). The media and the fans were wanting it to be.

I don't see why it has to be a competition between Disney and Universal. Neither sees it as a true competition. They're each doing their own thing to appeal to their audiences. I say it's a win/win for fans of both parks.

I'm sure a lot of us have seen a full video of the new ride by now on youtube.

If not and you dont mind spoilers here is one...

What are everyones thoughts so far? Im a little let down its not a little more thrilling of a ride ( its far less tame then Space or Thunder Mountain ) but the animatronics are mind blowing. The colors and sounds when going through the mine from what we see in these videos looks awesome.

It's an instant classic for the target market of families with small children, for those who love dark rides with the sprinkle of Disney magic. It will still be a hit 10 years from now.
One of the best if not the best family coasters I have ever seen. (by family I mean those with children who are 38 inches in height) Do wish they could have hit the 35" requirement on this ride.

Parents with younger kids will be able to ride this when they can't ride...

There isn't many well themed coasters for parents with small children...I have a feeling lines will be long.
We shall see...

I agree. I was hoping for something mind blowing and it didn't get even close. Disney needs a new big bad attraction in one of the parks.
Like some people have said, they delivered exactly what they said. Granted it was 3 years to get a kiddie coaster with some fun elements... I agree, with those people, Disney set the bar really low and they met their expectations. I don't know that they need big and bad because I think youre implying that it needs to be a super thrill ride. I would be happy for an amazingly themed dark ride with great elements like a haunted mansion for the future.

Amazing!! Such incredible show scenes, the witch animatronic is really awesome! I'm in Florida right now, and seeing the attraction in person is mind blowing! Such incredible detail, it is so beautiful! (Just from seeing not riding)

I feel most Disney family coasters (aka barnstormer, gadget coaster) are pretty lame, and unthemed. This certainly changes what a family coaster should be, and what should be expected from them! No longer can kids just expect to ride a 20 second coaster with no theme, and I think that's great! And at the same time, adults can certainly love this ride!

Bravo Disney!

Here's a photo I took on Wednesday, so beautiful.

I think they did a beautiful job....very pleased with the final result, and I think it is easily the best attraction in the FLE. Sure blows Mermaid out of the water. The finale cottage scene is absolutely perfect! I think it is an instant classic....as long as they keep everything working...

Seeing the videos and the photos I wish I had a Disney trip coming up soon. I think that at the end of the day it fits the area and park its in. Maybe I'm just a big kid and I take a different view of this attraction than most but sometime I feel the extensive criticism and need to hold everything under a microscope is best left to the adults that aren't looking to enjoy themselves, at Disney or on Vacation. I'm really impressed with the details of the ride and that scene at the end looks really amazing. To those that wanted something else, you're welcome to vote with your wallet.

It will just be nice to see the completed Fantasy Land without the fences. The entire NFL looks amazing already so this will only add to it. I was not let down at all because this is what Disney and Disney Forums like this one have been saying all along. This ride is supposed to fall somewhere between the Goofy Barnstormer and BTM, so I say it was spot on! I cant wait to ride it and i have already booked my fast pass for it. As far as competing with what Universal is doing, this was never the purpose for the NFL project. NFL was built primarily for 2 things: First was to obviously attract more guests, but secondly and more important to us frequent visitors was to alleviate the overcrowding that was always present in Old Fantasy Land. I can vouch for the second one working as I have been several times since Dumbo was moved and made into a dual spinner attraction. Once it opened in NFL and the Little Mermaid attraction opened, the congestion in OFL has been significantly reduced. Let me rephrase that, it HAD been reduced until the whole Elsa and Anna M&G was moved to OFL. Don't even get me started on that whole mess! I still miss the original Snow White dark ride and I am even more upset that it was replaced for a M&G, but this new ride appears to make up for it. Looks to be very relaxing and I love how it slows up in the mine so you can take in all of the dwarfs and scenery. Can't wait to ride it in June!!!!!!!!!!!!!
