Rumor- Magicbands will be required for some character meet n greets

Keep Moving Forward
I would hope that if they went ahead with these FP+ only MnGs that they won't take away from rides and count as your three picks
I'm betting these M&G will count so they are pulling more guests out of the other attractions. They already have several M&Gs on FP+ and these will be "special"

I'm going to sound like a fool, but keep in mind I have been M.i.A. for the last few months. It looks as though fast pass+ is going to be a pay for play system.

It's hard for me to see how they recoup the $1B+ without either charging for FP+ or at least charging for extra FP+. There's no way the alleged efficiency of the bands in and of themselves will produce that kind of revenue. They almost have to monetize FP+ since they've sunk so much money into it.

But even if everyone can use FP+ - FP+ exclusive vs optional is still a big difference. It's like a tour - only available if you plan ahead... no walk-up service. Plus it means potentially taking one of your FP+ allotments.

We've discussed this possibility - but it does impact park touring philosophies

This. I'm fairly certain this would count to your daily allotment (don't see why it wouldn't). This is just the continuation of WDW's attempt to shift crowds and demand away from existing rides (backhandedly saving the need to build new ones at hefty expenditure) by elevating character greetings to the same level as other attractions. The FP+/MDE shell game continues.

You use to speak your name at the beginning and then ET called you out by name. LOL. Lots of weird names being used. I was Spock once... I don't remember a passport card????

you tell a CM your name who types it in.. and they give you a card. You return the card when you load. it's how they sync things up

Rumor-

Magicbands are rumored to be required for some character meet n greets. This will likely be for VIP locations.

From what I understand, if you want to meet Donald and Daisy at their new location at DAK you'll need one.
..I could see this for the exclusive meet and greet area's but for standard one's that doesn't seem right so I am skeptical. I am all for the bands and don't see a real downside but I don't think it should be something that limits guests like many locals who only go for a day once every year or so from experiencing standard meet and greets.

Based on what? Disney has stated repeatedly that this is not the case. They are rolling it out to resort guests first because those are the easiest to track and control the numbers on. Most likely it will then to go to Annual Passes, and then all others. They have always stated that this will be available to all guests. What have you read or heard, specifically, that indicates otherwise. Of course, we've read a lot of speculation from people who don't like the system for one reason or another and who think the worst about it and make wild speculations like this, but all of that seems to be based on suspicion and a desire to see the system fail and be the evil thing that think it is. So, unless you've got an inside source and a specific quote, I'm going to assume you're just another one in the long line of naysayers who might have valid gripes, but who seem more worried about what MIGHT happen than what IS happening.

I'm ready to give up on WDW...even reading the fan boards to keep up with what we're required to do in order to have some fun is becoming a burden. This is too much work!

When will they make Magic Bands required for you to take a leak?

I am confused isn't this a fan site? Everytime I come on here it is just negative. Apparently WDW is just the root of all evil and you people just need something to complain about. There is no doubt in my mind that if Disney came out with a list of 10 things coming and 9 of them were brand new state of the best attractions in the world and the other just a M&G. You people on here would be complaining how cheap disney is that they didn't do 10 of the best attractions. I come to this site for updates on new things and tips for planning my next trip. I guess I can get that elswhere because on here it is just a bunch of complainers.

Just my 2cents on the magic bands.....I think they are great idea and they are not some conspiracy to steal all of your personal information. Besides if you are booking a trip they have all of that anyway. The current key to the world cards can have your credit card info and your names and such on them now. What is the difference. So what if they can track you in the park and tell where the crowds are and maybe help relieve some the congestion. SO WHAT!!!!! Do you not think they do this now? Now they just have CM's in the parks doing it with the bands they can do it electronically.

I'm pretty sure Disney just wants to know how many churros I have eaten so they can report back to my insurance company so they can raise my rates! I am pretty sure Disney gets a bonus for this as well! Its EVIL I tell you! o_O

No, since you are only eating the ears it doesn't count as any points. It's along the same lines as broken cookies have no calories. Rules to live by.
