People have asked CMs and it was established that you will get them at the ticket booth when you purchase your AP.After May 19, how will passholders get their new RFID passes? We're going May 25 and will purchasing AP's so just wondering if they might have them at the main entrances by then?
The only "vital" part of a meet and greet is meeting Mickey. Funny how we got along all these years with just a mute character pantomiming? Whatever else they could possibly cook up using the info on the Magic Band: Mickey knows your kids' names, Mickey teaches kids how to remember their telephone #, Mickey shows kids the best evacuation route from their home bedroom in case of fire... is just icing on the cake. Whether or not something new is physically constructed is immaterial; a ride could be considered an "enhancement" to its land. To deny people an experience in the park that does not really require a Magic Band, all because those people don't want to give up extra marketing data, is Disney on its bully pulpit. The Magicbands are a vital part of the meet and greet. The way, I'm assuming, Disney is running the interactive meet and greet, is via the Magicbands as opposed to obtrusively stopping every family entering and asking the names of each kid like you're about to ride ET or something. Your "Fire Mountain" simile is a pretty gross exaggeration. They're not building anything new, they're just adding an enhancement that requires the guest to provide information that furthers the experience. You can still do your meet and greets, but you can't expect them to build a bridge if you don't give them the necessary materials.
So you would rather them open up the interactive Mouse to everyone and have a CM standing at the door asking the names of everyone in the party? You don't think that would ruin the magic, ESPECIALLY for little ones just old enough to start to get suspicious? The only "vital" part of a meet and greet is meeting Mickey. I want to wear a magic band. I can now leave my walet in my room and not have to worry about it getting wet on Splash and still be able to get into the park, pay for items, and get back into my room at the end of the day.
No Magic Band = no kids' names, but Mickey can still talk to them. Kids, for years and years, have accepted the mute characters. Is it really going to be a huge issue if Mickey calls the kids in front of you by name and your kids "pal"? "Hiya, Pal! Are you having fun today? What did you like best? That sounds swell! Would you like me to sign your book? Can we take a picture? Everybody say, 'Cheese'! Aww shucks. Thanks for visiting me! Bye now! Have fun today! Come visit again some time!" Boom. Those 60 seconds are the highlight of a kid's life without Mickey being omniscient. Plus, the "queues" for characters have gotten smaller and smaller. In Town Square Theater, you only see the characters with a few other groups. I could have misunderstood, but I think in Princess Fantasy Faire in DL, it's one group at a time in the room with the princesses. Less problems comparing other people's experiences with your own.So you would rather them open up the interactive Mouse to everyone and have a CM standing at the door asking the names of everyone in the party? That's a very good point: right now we're only arguing our own speculations on the subject. I'm done wasting my metaphorical breath till more light's been shed on the subject.I explained in my post a couple pages ago that I'm pretty sure this rumor is in regards to needing FP+ to meet characters, it has nothing to do with the future state of an interactive Mickey... this thread went down an incorrect road. TST is not a location where FP+ (or MagicBands) will be required.
90% of the stuff on the boards is people arguing about rumors that will never happen or things that aren't open yet! That's a very good point: right now we're only arguing our own speculations on the subject. I'm done wasting my metaphorical breath till more light's been shed on the subject.
What I don't like is the fact that off-site guests will have to pay for these bands. Sometimes families save for a long time and just can't afford to stay on property so they get a cheap hotel offsite. What happens when one family can't go to these "VIP experiences" like little Johnny and Susie over there because they can't afford the bands? What are they supposed to tell their kids? "Sorry but we're not special enough to get a band like that" They want this whole FP+ thing to allow people to have a more fair opportunity to get FPs yet with VIP things with the magic bands, they're excluding people. Hardly seems fair to that family of 4 who saved up for 3 years to take their family to Disney.
This post makes me angry. Of course there are VIP experiences that a family can't afford. There always has been, there always will be.
If you can't explain to your kid that some people will have more than you in life, then I feel bad for that kid.
Oh well MY BAD. If my little post made you feel angry, then I feel bad for you.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.Just saw this on Kenny the Pirate's @kennygman website .

Fastpass+ user exclusive character meet and greets coming to Walt Disney World
It’s been brought to my attention that as a part of the new MyMagic and Fastpass+ experiences, Walt Disney World will offer FP+ EXCLUSIVE meet and greets. This will mean that regular park guests would NOT be able to take part in these experiences. The characters that are currently being chosen ARE, however, available to meet in other parks. I suppose this is to ensure a shorter meet and greet experience with these characters.
Epcot – Tigger and Winnie the Pooh
In my recent Pirate in the Parks Epcot edition, I mentioned that Winnie the Pooh now has the Fastpass+ scanning posts installed and the queue was moved from inside the store to behind the store. I wondered why there appeared to only be one entry point. How will FP+ guests and the unwashed masses merge at this location? You can clearly see in the image below that there’s only ONE entrance. The Town Square Mickey, Fantasyland Princesses and Ariel have TWO lines. One for those who use a version of FP and one for those who wish to wait an hour, if they don’t follow my Rope Drop or FP adviceIn the coming months, only those with FASTPASS+ (no paper FP will be served) will be allowed to take part in this meet and greet location.
One can also use FP+ to meet Mickey, Minnie and Goofy at the Epcot Character Spot, but it really isn’t necessary with wait times varying between 5 and 10 minutes. I walk right in almost any afternoon.
Hollywood Studios – Minnie Mouse
I had seen the exact same issue at Hollywood Studios, but assumed that the all new Minnie Mouse meet and greet would be receiving a second room at a later date. Her meet area is after all in a room that is listed at Drawing Room 2. However, you can also clearly see that the Minnie Mouse meet and greet line only has ONE entrance for FP+ only. This is the only current meet area that has the Mickey Touch Points installed.
Animal Kingdom – Disovery Island Boat Dock
The Discovery Island “Character Landing” at the old boat dock is currently occupied. When the mass character moves occur upon closing Camp Minnie Mickey, it’s assumed that Daisy and Donald will take over the spot that is now rented out by Tigger and Pooh. There will be no need to offer two FASTPASS+ exclusive meets for Tigger and Pooh, so these guys will either be relocated or just removed from the park.
Mickey and Minnie also offer a FP+ enabled meet and greet at the Adventurers Landing, but guests can also use the steerage line and wait. Warning…the estimated waits are usually lower than what the actual will be. It was posted as 15 minutes recently and I waited 27.
Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom currently offers 3 FP+ enabled meets: Words with Mickey in Town Square, Princesses in Fantasyland and Ariel in her Grotto. All these meets also offer stand by lines for those not using any type of FP. It is unknown to me if the Magic Kingdom will offer a FP+ exclusive meet and who it would be if they do.
I’m currently testing the FP+ system and will be providing info as I go along.
I guess just because until everyone has FP+, it is partially exclusive. This has been speculated on for a while now. We've had a number of discussion on this in various threads.
Making an experience FP+ only does not rule out everyone though, as all guests will be able to use FP+ once fully deployed, so I don't get the point of the article.

Yes lengthy discussion when @drew81 started the thread mar 12-perhaps this should be merged....This has been speculated on for a while now. We've had a number of discussion on this in various threads.
