Rumor: Disney World Indiana Jones Show Closing To Make Room For Star Wars

In addition, I've been told that Disney is looking at was to accelerate construction when wanted.. The higher-ups (including Iger) are leaning on the bean counters because of the contruction time-table on the larger projects lately.. NFE took longer to build than all of Phase 1 of WDW.

And that's actually very believable. The new Lion King theater got finished very quickly, and Disney Springs appears to be moving along at a good clip.

The math here is simple. Long Projects = More Man Hours. More Man Hours = More Money Spent on Labor. More Money Spent on Labor = Higher Construction Costs.

Therefore, Long Projects = Higher Construction Costs. Inversely, Condensed Projects = Lower Construction Costs.

I spoke with someone at dinner last night regarding the DHS changes... things are in the mix and they are trying to nail down a budget and projects for the area's in question before the beginning of the fiscal year.. I have no idea at this point what they are working towards... Cars? Star Wars? Something else? but I can tell you with 100% certainty that Disney is taking notice of the "Potter Pull"..

From what I have been told, they are toying with the idea of not announcing ANYTHING until it's 60-70 built.. At which point they will announce what it is closer to when it opens.. (similar to the approach uni has been taking lately).. months or year-long buzz seems to work better than 5 years of low-level humming that was the new fantasyland and cars land projects.

In addition, I've been told that Disney is looking at was to accelerate construction when wanted.. The higher-ups (including Iger) are leaning on the bean counters because of the contruction time-table on the larger projects lately.. NFE took longer to build than all of Phase 1 of WDW.
this is great to hear... even though it'll kill some of us (haha)... waiting until a good portion is built before announcing DOES lead to a lot of hype and talk

I just hope whatever they do at DHS is done in a big way... and not just in 1 section of the park... there are so many things that need overhauled or changed/added there...there may even be less things that should remain than need changed/updated.

thanks for sharing!

that is a very good point... the Lion King theater wasn't just a building either, it was an opening in a whole new section and it was done very quickly... also Disney Springs is moving very fast.

A few weeks ago when I was at Disney World, I made the comment to my wife that I have never seen this much activity/construction going on in all the parks and DTD at the same time. This can only be a good thing

OTPN is reporting (as a rumor only) that it will feature two new rides.. a rebel empire battling coaster, a dark ride that goes through the greatest Star Wars scenes and some shops and restaurants.

http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/2014/06/disneys-hollywood-studios-expansion.html

I mentioned in another thread that I am a little skeptical of this rumor because of the battle coaster. There was a lot of buzz around this ride concept a while back when a patent showed up for a Star Wars themed battle coaster, but it turned out that it wasn't a Disney patent. Of course they could licenses it, but it still makes me suspicious of the rumor.

Not so simple, long man hours for a few construction workers is not less than short man hours for a large crew. Also, material delivery timing must be spot on for fast moving project or you end up with a large crew just standing around with little to do.

Star Wars land really does cause panic amongst some. The giveaway is the politicking for Carsland.

But even funnier is the fear of a Frozen overlay in WS. I know our resident Uni trolls have anxiety of 2 or 3 hour wait times becoming reality. But you know that is what would happen.

Too much fun. Better go to the store and stock up on Orville's popcorn soon.

Yes, people know it would happen because shoe horning an incredibly popular IP into a smaller capacity attraction will create massive lines. Mix that with the fact that there are few rides that really appeal to the younger set in EPCOT, and you're obviously going to have long lines. There is no anxiety for the people who, unlike you, see theme parks for what they are, not to fit needless, online agendas.

Good news, but the powers that be are as thick as the preverbal if they need to ask.

Splash Mountain 22 months. Big Thundermountain 22 months. ALL of EPCOT Center 36 months.

More recent projects however...

Stop flaming JT. You know any reasonable person here is complaining about the location, not the IP

Change your record.

Actually I believe it is temporary in that location. If it does well it could get a dedicated location. IMO.

And I am only countering the trolling from the Uni troops. I would not mind so much if they would just admit they have an agenda with every single thing they post on these boards.

Well there is some irony for the ages.
