Rumor: Adventureland Volcano

Is Lance from Screamscape pretty accurate with his information? I've noticed over the years that he sometimes tends to post news later than the announcement date, and other instances where he's simply giving his two cents.

HMF, thanks for your reply about the changes that have happened at Space Mountain. I never knew all the details.

I may have misinterpreted Martin's reply to another members question about Space Mountain. He said he was still disappointed with the situation about Space Mountain, in which someone asked if it was relating to the ride being refurbished or gutted. He said "both". So I took that to mean that Space Mountain was to be gutted. To me that could mean that it could be replaced by a new, non-Space Mountain ride (like a Tron themed ride, etc.).

If gutting means the tracks & ride are to be updated and maybe an enhanced/refurbished Space Mountain theme...I'm all for it! But only if it stays as "Space Mountain".

If you want to see how great Space Mountain can be. I suggest you either youtube Disneyland's Space Mountain or even better visit Anaheim at some point after memorial day weekend through the summer.

Sorry.

To clarify circa 2008 the plan was to rip out Orlandos Space Mountain interior and rebuild it from scratch with the same layout - much like Uni did with the Hulk. New, smoother track. New ride vehicles with onboard audio in the same 3 per car configuration. Updated visual effects. The same ride but of the 21st century. The perfect Space Mountain.

Obviously it didn't happen.

Is there a shred of hope for this to happen in the nearish future? Assuming a car doesn't go flying off the track, of course.

I still get sad over this. Thanks Phil. Is he still the head honcho at DHS? Does he have any say in budgets there? I hope not.

This infuriates me. Ridiculous.

I spoke with the new head of TL and outdoor F&B last year. When I inquired about Space Mountain and its need for a new safer track, I received one of those ear-to-ear "Oh whatever do you mean?" non-smiles that very effectively communicated her invitation for me to shut the hell up. I take it SM is a bit of a touchy subject backstage...

Hopefully the E/E+ ticket will be in AL as that could use it the most. What they should do is target it as a 2023 attraction so people who come to the 50th hear about the massive new attraction coming soon and want to book another trip.

I do agree with any new E-ticket (especially if it is a higher thrill one) going to Adventureland which is the area that needs it. Other parts of the park would benefit from higher capacity but less attention grabbing rides -- IMHO Frontierland in particular could use another ride to compliment the higher thrill E-tickets there.

I would love a more polished Matterhorn - just in Epcot at a Switzerland pavilion. I do wonder, though, if the higher-ups at WDW believe Expedition Everest covers the basis for a mountain ride for the area - given it is a roller coaster and features a (forever paralyzed) yeti.
I'd like to see a Matterhorn in Epcot that isn't based on the original Swiss pavilion plans. Honestly, they could probably stick it behind Germany with a different name since a Swiss pavilion probably isn't going to happen.
