Rumor: Adventureland Volcano

Oops. Let me clarify. Something new that's an E / E+ should open in the MK before the mid 2020s. I wouldn't be surprised if it were something on the scale of Splash for example.

Other things will open before that.

That IS pretty big.

Honestly, it would be amazing if the Matterhorn made its way to WDW...

I like it when you "clarify"!
E or E+! Holy Moly!
Can you say the land, ride type, or theme? Of course not, but I had to ask.

Can you at least say how far along this might be, or just your thoughts on the project (good/bad/meh)?

Hopefully, we won't lose TSI in this process.

My only question right now...original attraction or IP-based?

Is there any doubt... Even if it is it could easily be used properly like Splash or Tron, especially at MK.

Plus, there's always the chance that the IP could be removed from the ride after the fundamentals of the attraction is designed, like how Maelstrom was initially a Black Cauldron ride.

Wait... on second thought maybe Maelstrom is a bad example...

I understand that many are dismissing this as a Jim Hill rumor, but that was the exact pattern that the Tron attraction rumor took. Other insiders on here said, "nope, not happening" and then they softened on that stance.

What it sounds like here is that the MK will get a major addition by 2021 but the normal insider sources are being told a few different projects. Wouldn't be surprised if that's actually deliberate, or conversely, they haven't decided.

As I understand it, the Jim Hill rumor is height-balloons and the Volcano. Three of our insiders are saying no to that. And if it's the same thing as what Martin is referring to as more likely 5 to 10 years from now, then it would be odd to do height-balloons now.

Then there is the Tron rumor. Which was a big nope from our insiders until recently, and now stands as a possibility, but not the lead contender.

And then there is the E(+) ride Martin is referring to which is neither Tron nor Volcano and is 5-10 years away... possibly.

I'm guessing they haven't decided. And it is a difficult decision as to add an E before or after the 50th. Possible the DJ JC is the compromise.

Something else I've always personally thought was a huge waste of prime real estate was the CM parking behind MS USA and Tomorrowland.

I don't know if it was ever considered to be "expansion pad" but I know I certainly would consider it that if I was management. The CMs are bused in anyways. Why is this parking lot even needed...?

I believe that parking is for higher ups too good for parking out back with the hourly cast, and that lot was expanded when they leveled the Galaxy Palace Theater years ago. I doubt they'd use this space unless it also included an overhaul of Buzz and/or CoP and they needed the land. It's a little tough to use anyway with MSUSA and the bypass right there.

I haven't been going nearly as long as some here, but, to me, the high water marks for Imagineering were Splash and TOT, Pandora notwithstanding since it isn't open yet. Shame those were so long ago. Would love to see something eclipse those two. I know it goes further than WDI. They can design anything. It's having the budget to get it done.

@jt04 when you throw enough fecal excriment at the wall eventually something will stick.

I don't take issue with a lot of what he says, I breeze by it, most is harmless, but sometimes you shouldn't talk about what you don't really know. I keep quiet on things I don't have anything to say on ... but that's me ...

I would love a more polished Matterhorn - just in Epcot at a Switzerland pavilion. I do wonder, though, if the higher-ups at WDW believe Expedition Everest covers the basis for a mountain ride for the area - given it is a roller coaster and features a (forever paralyzed) yeti.

Very possible.

The two are no comparison.

EE is a thrill ride with a mountain theme.

The Matterhorn has more the feel of a dark ride with a coaster component. It's just flat out fun.
