Rumor: Adventureland Volcano

Why Germany? The actual Matterhorn is on the Swiss-Italian border. So it fits into the Italy pavilion just fine. I agree there is no need to build a Swiss pavilion, although the chocolate and cheese would be good.
If there's still room in the Italian pavilion, I say go for it. I only suggested Germany since there was space for a ride back there (though that may no longer be the case.

As part of my AP Portfolio, I made concept art for Fire Mountain. It must've been good timing, because it was finished before January :)
So the attractaion itself would be placed on the Seven Seas Lagoon just outside the park. The reason for this is so guests staying at the Polynesian Village Resort can see the volcano erupt for every cycle. The Mountain would blend in with the resort to create the Polynesian atmosphere and experience.

So how will guests walk to the mountain? There would be a long pathway built to transition mainland jungle with the Polynesian area of Adventureland. This path would be conveniently located between Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise.

The concept for the Mountain is this: it would start off as a sit-down, Matterhorn roller coaster style experience. The exploration cars would climb up a short lift hill, then go through short helixes and drops, until it enters the Mountain.....
All of a sudden, the ground starts vibrating; you feel the sensation of an earthquake.... entire chunks of the Mountain will start to fall down, splashing into the hot lava below. While the Earth is shaking, your car starts to transform into an inverted, flying coaster vehicle. Then, the volcano erupts, you and your friendly tourists are sent launching above the volcano, amid fog/mist effects, as well as lava (boiling water with food coloring and smoky scents). The cars goes through a couple of inversions, twisty pieces of track that go out of control...
In the heart of the Mountain, lies an ancient evil; an evil that cannot be compromised with, there are no other explorers available to save you now...
As the riders face a brief encounter with the ancient evil, their luck is granted when the vehicle starts falling, due to an unknown feature of the trains, they come built in with an "emergency mode", to escort the adventurers in case of an emergency. The vehicle starts transforming again, back into sit-down mode, and the riders are sent to a large drop out the volcano, ending with a small splash of cool lava....

The idea for a transforming Ride system and the desire to create a new version of the Fire Mountain attraction led me to create this concept art. This would be one massive, E++ ticket, and definitely not for the faint of heart......

Because Venice and a Matterhorn don't exactly fit together. WDI decided to choose a Venetian theming for the Italian pavilion, it would be imagineering at it's worst to place a Matterhorn behind a cityscape designed to look like this mediterranean city. And I am quite sure near to none Americans associate Italy with the Alps in the first place, doesn't matter if quite a chunk of the Alps today is Italian territory.

I actually think the best place for an attraction like this would be the World Showcase in a brand new area called Oceanica. That particular area could feature Australia, New Zealand, and the other Pacific Islands like Polynesia and Tahiti. Personally, though I know a lot of people won't like this I would personally prefer it if the World Showcase featured regions of the world for each pavilion rather than just one country. I feel like this would be a more fair and accurate representation of the world because there are too many countries in the world to even come close to representing them all in the World Showcase. At least by doing regions such as Scandinavia, Patagonia, Oceanica, Latin America, etc., there is a chance to incorporate more countries and cultures. That's just me though.

Actually I think that is a great idea...and it's placement in the empty Africa pad would look really beautiful

Interesting view. I'd still prefer it in Italy, since it's a real life thing and actually is in Italy, vs Germany, where it factually is not. You could, I suppose, put it in Germany and call it just "Alpen Adventure" or something.

But putting the Matterhorn in Germany would be like putting the the cliffs of Dover in Ireland, or the Nine Dragons screen in Japan, or an Arabian Prince in Morocco...now that would be imagineering at its worst! ;)

Well if Tomorrowland isn't going to be a part of any announcement for MK, but something is, I'm curious to know. Considering TL has had a lot of "maybes" on the table hinted at by insiders, they seem to not be in any rush. Frontierland isn't getting anything apparently. What's left? Adventureland. I can't imagine Fantasyland getting anything.

Rumors like this make me think that WDI is pulling a Tyrion and testing where the leaks are
Yes perhaps this is why there is a rumor about the Tiki Birds flying away. Although, I sort of think there is some related action going on here. They are testing if Tiki should go in favor of some Moana attraction perhaps?
