I have a week long trip planned in January and I want to try some of the restaurants in the resorts. The only one that I have been to is Chef Mickey's and I loved it. I have pretty much eaten at all of the restaurants in the parks, but I want to try something new. I have been told to try the clam bake at the Beach Club Resort and Ohana's. Any other suggestion's?????

Oh definitely do Ohana. Its by far my favorite restaurant on property. Kona Cafe is also very good. The coconut almond chicken is delicious!

1900 Park Fare had a pretty good buffet in the morning if you're looking for somewhere to eat for breakfast too.

I was at Ohana's last Thursday...the worst service possible! After sitting with no food and s__________g on ice cubes and a five year old for 20 minutes the server came to ask me for if I was ready for steak and pork and I was ready for my check at this point. This was after they refused to peel the shrimp for my daughter bc it was against their policy..c'mon you cook the stuff! I only asked for someone to peel 3 pieces. (the dilememma was that they were big looked like they tasted incredible, but I have a fetish about peel and eat shrimp bc the legs make them look like centipedes.)

8 days at Disney World with the dining plan and that was the only negative service. I highly recommend 1900 Park Fare. The food is incredible and service was extremely good.

Sounds like you just had a bad experience at Ohana. We had dinner there on the 23rd and it was probably the slowest I've ever experienced there. Every other time we've eaten there, which has been a lot in this year alone, has been great. Food came to us fast and the service was great.

Funny thing...we ate at 1900 Park Fare for the first time last week and I thought the service was horrible...but the food was great.

First let me say this was mostly my husbands idea to go. And since it is a new place, I am curious to see it. I read the menu for the Yak & Yeti and I agree with you that it looks like the menu from a Chinese take out restaurant. But with all the hype of this restaurant of when it was being built. All of the pics and the weekly updates, I have to try it at least once. If it doesn't float my boat, then it will be my last time also.
What I would do, providing you can get your husband to go along with it is do kind of a mid day break there. Order an appetizer or 2 (The Ahi tuna and the Dim sum basket were very good) maybe a few drinks and a dessert. You will be able to enjoy the restaurant and the atmosphere without feeling like you have been financially violated.

That's a good idea, thanks. I could definitely do that for lunch. So in case we don't like it we can then go somewhere else for dinner.

Glad I could help. I notice that you did not have Raglan Rd on your list. If you need a dinner place I would highly recommend it or you could try one of WDW hidden dinning gems, Trails End buffet at Ft Wilderness Campground. Here is a link to the menu at Trails End. Trails end menu

Oh Meyla Weyla
I have finished making all of my ADR's and here they are :slurp: :

Yak & Yeti (the only park restaurant picked, because it's new and I have been dying to try it)
California Grill
Ohana
Cape May Cafe
Boma
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Fulton's Crab House
Chef Mickey's

OK, just one last question. When I made the ADR's for the California Grill and the Yachtsman Steakhouse, I was told that there is a "dress code". No hats, tank tops, bathing suits, etc. They said jeans were ok, just as long as they are not torn and look nice. How do people go dressed to these two restaurants? I don't want to go over or under dressed.

:sohappy: Sounds great! And you got all of these at the last minute? Wow. I hope you enjoy them all. Fulton's is really expensive too, but for me personally it is still the number 1 best meal I've had on property. I would be like you and try Yak and Yeti once, I think you have to try places at least once before you write 'em off, even though you know you're going cry when you see the bill

Oh, and I've always gone to places with this type of dress code in nice jeans and a nice top with shoes that are not sneakers. I don't own any khakis, so this is the best I can do without over dressing. It's always been just fine, and I don't ever feel under dressed.

Have fun!

Ohana is great. So is Artist Point at WL. And personally, I love Jiko at AKL. When I was there 2 weeks ago, it was the best meal I had during my week long stay...which surprised me. I'd been before, but for some reason I always forget how good it is.:brick:

Well, in case the OP or anyone for that matter is still looking, my choices would have been: WCC at Wilderness Lodge for breakfast lunch or dinner, BOMA at Animal Kingdom Lodge for their delicious variety, Boatwrights at Port Orleans Riverside for their delicious dishes, Goofys Beach Club Buffet for a delicious breakfast and Olivia's at Old Key West for their great tasting foods. OMG, I am sooooo hungry now. :slurp::slurp::slurp:Glad you got in, have a great time.

What did you eat at Boatwrights? We're eating there for the first time this year.

Jiko (AKL) and Narcoossees (GF) were both pretty amazing on our last trip. Boma (AKL) is always good too. Plus, if you make a trip out to AKL, then you can have time to look around at the animals.

I have to agree with Boatright's. I was very (pleasantly) surprised by the quality and I think it is a much overlooked resort restaurant.

We had dinner there, and due to my having Celiac, the Chef was very accommodating. They made me crab cakes (delish!) along with some pan fried veggies and shrimp (not on the menu). I was very pleased with the whole experience.
