"Rapid Fill" Mugs Coming to Walt Disney World Hotels

This isn't necessarily a case of the man trying to keep the APers down. I would think it's more a case of the man trying to keep the people who are knowingly stealing down. APers are just collateral damage.

For the tourists, nothing has really changed, unless of course you were abusing the system to begin with.

Why a local guest would PAY MONEY for a Disney drink is beyond me. If you're local, by definition you have a car and access to Publix.

True, but maybe you're a local that enjoys the Dixie Landings food court (like say me, even if I am an extended local). If I'm going to the food court to dine, then I'm bringing back my 1990s mug that I was told literally dozens of times by dozens of people over the years it bring it back whenever you come here ... this REALLY is just another move to put everyone on the DDP and have them all with mugs each trip and they don't give a Flying Fig about anyone else.

My first mug was in 1995 and I don't remember seeing the contract. Knowing Disney it would have been a 5 page document. I wonder if was printed on the mug. I don't recall if I brought the mug back in 2000 for our second Dixie Landing Stay. I know in 2002 I bought a AKL mug.

there were no contracts then ... there also was no official policy from TDO ... it was all oral and communicated to guests at various QSR locales around the resort. Did I say how much I love inane mug threads?

I'm not a soda drinker, occasionally I'll pop open some sparkling water or Izze, but I want to know why Disney hasn't installed water bottle refill stations in their parks. Sure, bottled water=$$$$ and this could incentivize folks to use refillable water bottles:eek: , but can't you make our lives easier from a design perspective. We know you love trying hard, albeit not entirely successfully, to suck money out of our wallets. Just give us a break once in a while.

No time to read 9 pages so I'm sorry if this was asked/answered but my question is this,

It says you can still get a normal paper cup for a 1 time use, well how do you fill that up? If the machines read the RFID, how do they work with the paper cup because I highly doubt the paper cups with have chips too. Also can I not get a refil with my paper cup even if I'm eating there at a table (I drink a lot)?

The paper cups have passive RFID. They are set to dispense/refill for a certain length of time only.

For me, as someone that generally stays 14 nights per visit coming from across the pond, this doesn't really impact on me other than being a few dollars more. I can see how 1 or 2 night vacationers will be a bit peeved being that it's rather pricey for those options. But it's not the end of the world ... multipack cans from supermarkets are your saviour!

Not true at all. Karma is a good friend who keeps you warm at night knowing that people actually fret about a billion dollar corporation 'losing' a few cents on soda while making $36 on a few burgers, salads and desserts in a food court.

Changing a system well over a decade in and then acting like the oral contracts given by CMs doesn't matter is BS.

Now, after I go back to talking about more important topics, then I'll go to sleep and take karma with my plush.

That's the attitude that leads to "it's ok if I steal this plush, it's only $12 and they'll never miss it anyway" and "It's ok if I jump the turnstiles, everyone else is paying so they won't miss the money. Anyway they make billions." You can say "they make $X!" all you want. It doesn't excuse that fact that it's stealing.

As for the oral contracts from CMs: When did those ever constitute official policy? It's much like the food policy, you're really not allowed to bring it in but nobody enforces it. This is similar. Official policy was to not allow soda refills after the stay, but they didn't enforce it.

Mild difference between outright shoplifting and a vague policy about the refilling of a soda cup........

And doubtless, those cups are also time limited to the length of meal ? Or is it limited to refill total ?
No doubt it will be "No refills" or some other restriction. Whoever the idjiots were that abused the system before should have to pay twice for mugs (I can't recall ever seeing anyone bringing a McD's cup, but the gall of some people seems to keep evolving). Even as locals, we would just pay to get a paper cup drink.
