"Rapid Fill" Mugs Coming to Walt Disney World Hotels

If that happens, then you just stand there with the cup under the dispenser and wait the two minutes - Disney will have to deal with the line that ensues.

I see these are usable for coffee too - who would put hot coffee in a plastic mug? I mean, I guess a lot of people do because you get unlimited refills, but I couldn't drink coffee out of a plastic mug. Too much heat transfer, the plastic will get soft (unless these are "hard" plastic?), matter from the plastic will taint the coffee (again, unless these are "hard" plastic - but they look soft). When you buy ONE coffee, say at a food court, is it in a styrofoam or paper cup? IMO those work much better for hot beverages. But would they be refillable?

all i did was move it to one of the other stations, i believe it worked...can't honestly remember.

as for the coffee. my FIL used both the water park mug and the dining plan mug for coffee, but i believe it was predominantly iced. my kids had hot cocoa in the dining plan mug once, didn't seem to be an issue

Do the resort food courts have iced coffee and iced tea, and can you use the length-of-stay mug for that?

ice tea yes, at least at the one in contemporary. think they had like four variety in the machine.

i don't know if they had iced coffee, or if my father in law got regular coffee and added his own ice. but i know he was drinking not-hot coffee on purpose while we were there...

I have used the refillable mugs in the past for coffee, at breakfast time in the food court every does, the kids use them for hot chocolate. At home it's the mug I grab for a coffee on the road. They are a hard plastic.

also, for what its worth, i am sure they are built for hot stuff. the lids on top of the water park rapid fills has a message printed on it
caution: contents may be hot

doubt that goes there unless it could handle a hot beverage.
or it could be a disclaimer that the ice may be melted before you get it back to your spot.

For some reason I can't remember - can you bring the rapid fill mugs into the parks and get refills? I think people said you can, and my first thought was, if I get one of those mugs, I'm not lugging it to the parks. But on second thought, I probably would throw it in my backpack - I'd save more on refills in the parks than I would at the resort.

without reading through the whole thread, we were there from 8/15-8/25, and the rapid refill mugs were given to us with our reserved spaces at TL and BB. it was funny when the woman @ TL told us we can't microwave or dishwasher clean them as it would kill the RFID chip.

I ran em in the dishwasher before we left-to clean them, not because i am paranoid about RFID.

the only pain-and it only happened once-was it has a refill restriction of 2 minutes on a given cup, but the one mug i was filling the machine only filled the cup like halfway.

liked the green. wished the orange had been available with the regular dining plan mugs though

Yes if you don't like ice in your drink they only fill cup 1/2 way, FAIL

^ Only a little.

So how does the machine know how much soda it's given you - does it go by weight or the time it's been dispensing? Also, can you release the button halfway through (say, to let the foam settle) then continue, or once you release it is that the end of your fill?

Oh well, this is crazy. To be honest, in my room, I prefer soda in a bottle, so I can cap it and save some for later.

Flow rate multiplied by time, Finagle help you if water pressure is low

How does this affect both the coffee and tea canisters? I really hope they don't switch from fresh brewed tea to the nasty bag stuff you can get out of soda machine.

No impact on the tea or coffee. The Tea and Coffee carafes are separate from the soda fountain, and don't have Rapid Refill chip readers on them. We're at WDW right now (staying at AKL) and I've had several cups of coffee (as an aside, the coffee is much better now than it was when it was Nescafe). The Rapid Refill thing is actually pretty neat.

Do they allow any refills on soft drinks, coffee, etc. purchased in the parks (not talking about water parks)?

But you can get unlimited refills on coffee and tea with the unlimited mugs? Also, if you buy a coffee or tea (with no unlimited mug) do you get refills the same way as when you buy a soda, even if the coffee and tea carafes have no rfid readers? It wouldn't be able to limit you to three in one hour, the way they do with soda (not that I could drink more than three cups of coffee or tea in an hour.)

Were there recently, you can refill coffee and tea unlimited as well as as water and ice (I put lemon from the food court into my water and ice). I believe also hot chocolate is also unlimited, could be wrong about that. We brought old mugs from earlier this year without the chip and only do the free drinks.

Thanks! We buy the mugs each time and mainly use it for tea and the occasional soda for the kids but they would prefer fresh brewed sweet tea over soda any day!!

Be careful admitting that around these parts. You're cheating the system.

ummm....I don't work here I'm only visiting ;). I would guess that you could theoretically get as much coffee or tea as you want if no one is watching since there is no RFID reader on the coffee or tea machines, but I'm guessing that if people start doing that then we'll see RFID readers on those too. I can tell you that you can get unlimited coffee or tea with the unlimited mugs. Also, they don't limit you to 3 drinks an hour from what I can see (on the fountains), just the two minute wait between fills. I can try the 3 drinks thing tomorrow and see if that is the case. Regardless, there doesn't appear to be a 3 drink/hour limit on the coffee or tea unless they have someone standing by the carafes full time who can remember everybody who comes by to get coffee or tea.
