Sixteen Candles is one of my all time fav movies. I am very sad to hear this. Love the man who brought "Jake Ryan" into my world. :(

Sighs....:(

This is truly a sad moment for me...this man's movies so defined my teenage years. I loved all of them...my condolences to his family.

Some Directors, Writers, and all around talented people can never be replaced.

Rest in peace.

I am going to start a John Hughes marathon tonight. I think I am going to start with The Breakfast Club :king:

They should do that on TV -- especially TBS and USA and stations like it. His movies made stations like that for a long time.

He definitely got the heart of the American teenager for at least a whole generation, if not generationS.

And he never really "went Hollywood" as far as we know.

And don't forget how many actors and actresses today owe their entire career to the platform that he gave them for their kickoff or a serious boost:

John Cusack
Anthony Michael Hall
Molly Ringwald
Emilio Estevez
Jon Cryer
Andrew McCarthy
James Spader
Macaulay Culkin
Joan Cusack

The list can go on....
