Princesses may not rule fantasy land after all! Frontierland expansion rumor reality?

Love the avatar.

According to Jim Hill (I know) the cutting of PH has to do with Disney trying to expand the franchise and not wanting to commit resources to a franchise while they are tweaking it.

The franchise is one of the most popular things Disney has going for it. The Tink M&G alone proves there is a demand.

Thanks!

For some reason I'm not buying Jim's explanation. For all I know it could be right, but Pixie Hollow was very fluid for a long time. If the rationale was simply because they were tweaking the franchise, I would imagine it must have been a cut-and-dry decision, but I guess not.

I think there is likely more to it than just the information that was given to Jim. I'm sure there are some people who objected to the franchise just as there are people who object to it here.

So now we have an empty space in the center of the land with no plans... speculation time! Alice, Villains, Mini-Toontown? You know, I bet they could fit the WoC lagoon in there... :lookaroun

Seconds this.

(But we aren't that lucky. To paraphrase Ted Knight in Caddyshack "We'll get nothing and like it!"

So what?

So what? So let's dance!

Okay...I say they do this: Make a much smaller scale M&G area for Tinkerbell across from Peter Pan's Flight...over in the area where the strollers/old Skyway station is. Who cares about any of the other fairies except for Tinkerbell. NOne of them are staple Disney characters and in my mind don't deserve a meet and greet spot.
If a direct to DVD character who ISNT Tinkerbell gets her own M&G, then I insist they bring back Scrooge McDuck and Darkwing Duck and give each of them their own meet and greet areas as well, since people my age grew up with the Disney afternoon and never really got the chance to blow money on stuff related to their franchises. ;)

Does this mean we keep Toontown and sitll get BatB/TLM?

The Mermaid attraction and restaurant are definites as far as I know, and I believe the meet n' greets are, too. Toontown Fair is more than likely suffering the same fate as Birthdayland, the Skyway, and Horizons. Pixie Hollow will not be replacing it, but the Dueling Dumbos are still set for the area, with their placement in limbo.

"Tink is the franchise", that's kind of my point. maybe i was stating it wrong, and I apologize for any confusion if I did. I just dont see there being much interest BEYOND Tink.

Here is the disconnect. The origin stories that Tink etc are on based will ALWAYS bring wonder to young imaginations. It is universal, timeless and will always work as a franchise. It can't go out of style. That is why it is a 2 billion dollar enterprise for Disney without really trying. It will only go away if Disney does not produce anymore movies. But the demand will be endless. Disney would be wise to develop other franchises. If PH is being delayed or rethought it is because they realize there is many more possibilities besides Tink for this genre. Tim Burton's "Alice" hints at the possibilities of these type fantasy worlds. It has already made a cool BILLION and counting.

:sohappy:

There are some seriously short-sighted folks around. :dazzle:

Also, a clarification on this thread title, it's a bit misleading. A princess AND a prince will always rule Fantasyland. While people wish for a boy to rule Fantasyland, keep in mind that Cindy's slowly letting him have his way, bringing his little horse-riding toy in from the forests and all. Technically, while Cindy DOES wear the pant-leggings, it's Charming's castle; HE named it after HER.

... or am I missing the point...?

P.S. And as for the expansion rumors, Fronteirland itself is the Westward expansion of America's Liberty Square. And Fronteirland is indeed a reality, I've seen the gold in dem dare hills.
