Post Something You Miss

I miss River Country.

And, I miss the cupcake stand that used to be in Toontown back with it was Mickey's Birthday Land. I used to LOVE those cupcakes. I do get a cupcake at least once a trip now, but I don't like them as much. They're never fresh. They're always cold because they make them in one big kitchen and then just ship them around and refrigerate them. You can't get a good fresh cupcake at WDW anymore...

I miss the Disney village resort. I stayed there in the early 80's when my age was only in the single digits. We had two floors and a golf cart and there was an arcade nearby that my dad would take me to. As far as I was concerned at the time, it was the best place on earth.

For longtime WDW visitors, who else missed the time when characters would actually be wandering around the park? That idea must have made the visit to WDW even more special back in the 70's - mid 90's. Today you can only find them still wandering at Disneyland and others Disney parks such as Tokyo Disney Resort and Disneyland Paris.

That's how I met Tigger in my younger days...

I remember some characters used to walk around in front of the castle in the early 2000's. chip & dale snuck up on my wife & started to tickle her.

Hah wow yes I do miss that and totally forgot about it!!!
I was 3 when we first went in 1990 and I actually remember this practice. Captain Hook scared me so much as he was a creepy villain man to me, but probably partly because he was just wondering like a vagabond in Toon Town (or whatever it was called then). Great memories-thanks for mentioning this.

It think that area must have been "Mickey's Starland" which later became Mickey's Toon Town fair which was also formerly Mickey's Birthdayland.

The oak-fired filet with teriyaki bbq sauce at California Grill.
It was the best thing I'd ever eaten and now it's gone
I would love to see PUSH again too.

Amen. The reason the original Test Track was much better is that it seemed to have a true "Epcot" feel, teaching you about what goes into testing cars. Nice theme that made sense from the build up in the pre show, to the actual ride where tests were performed.

The current ride is relatively flat on the learning side, barely scratching the surface of how car design impacts performance. You realize very quickly the car you "designed" has no impact on the ride and is essentially a time waster before entering a pseudo "futuristic" main attraction. After the first ride, you realize it's essentially the same ride with the lights turned off, fluorescent accents, a computerized narrator, and zero substance.

Just awful.

Well said! That's what I was thinking but couldn't put it into words.

I understand that it must be for crowd control and safety BUT there is nothing better than being surprised by a wandering character when you least expect it.

I miss Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom.

I loved the music, the colors and the theme of it. But at least it was replaced with...oh wait, it wasn't replaced. Just stopped. Still not quite over that yet.
I was saddened to see it was cancelled since the last time I visited in October '12, it was such a FUN parade, we loved it! My sister's family was then chosen on their following trip to be the grand marshal family (I think that's what it was called?) sitting in the front car of the parade...it was the best Disney experience they've ever had!

I miss the old Polynesian lobby. That place was magical. I stopped staying there once construction started and I don't know that I will ever be able to bring myself to stay there again. It just doesn't seem the same.

I also miss the fruit tarts from MSB. I know I can get similar ones at the Studios and EPCOT, but there are so many memories of having fruit tarts late at night in MSB. Oh well..

No wonder I always love watching the Disneyland Sing-Along Songs on Youtube. I remember one song had the characters riding with guests at Fantasyland such as Pinocchio who kisses a girl's arm on the Carousel while the White Rabbit rides It's A Small World which made me jealous.
