POP or Coronado?

I'm planning my honeymoon for October 2011 and we are trying to decide which resort hotel to stay at? What are your suggestions between POP or Coronado? I really don't think we will spend much time in our room.

My other thing is that my fiance is handicapped so we were planning on using the buses with his motorized scooter... I hope that isn't a problem? Thoughts?

And any suggestions where else to stay -- we can't afford any deluxe resorts.

I'd recommend CSR! Besides having a great main pool area, CSR also offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price.

CSR has queen beds while the other mods have doubles like the values. The rooms have been recently renovated and are gorgeous.

CSR has a fitness center, spa, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night club.

CSR has a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room instead of a privacy curtain like the other mods.

CSR has the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).

CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great.

CSR has terrific transportation that is not shared with another resort.

We stayed at Coronado for our honeymoon back in 2000 and it was great!

Of course, if you're not going to spend much time in your room, then you might want to go with Pop simply to save a little money.

But, I dont think it'll really matter, you're on your honeymoon! :sohappy:

Enjoy!

Coronado!!! For sure....

POP tends to have more families with children, and since you're on your Disneymoon, I think it'll be better at CS.

Also since you'll have your hubbys scooter, I've noticed that CS bus lines aren't as packed as POP.

Congrats on your wedding!!!! :sohappy:

Congratulations! That is so exciting. A honeymoon is a once in a lifetime trip. You should splurge and stay at a moderate resort over a value.

My other thing is that my fiance is handicapped so we were planning on using the buses with his motorized scooter... I hope that isn't a problem? Thoughts?
It is not a problem at all.

And any suggestions where else to stay -- we can't afford any deluxe resorts.
I think you should look at all of the moderates online. Look at pictures of the rooms and the resort itself. Look at a map and see where they are located in WDW. See which one suits your personality. They are all good and each one has its own theme. Pick the one that you love best.

I would absolutely stay at CS...stayed there last year with my husband and son and it was much more "grown up" The grounds are beautiful for a romantic honeymoon walk at night and the pool is the best...even though there were some families, it was not over run by kids~which was nice and made it quiet. Also there is a lounge that you could maybe have a drink at one night! Enjoy!

I vote for CS over Pop for your honeymoon too. Pop is nice, but for a honeymoon CS would be much nicer and more romantic. As others have said, CS gives you a lot of what the deluxe resorts have, but for a moderate price. Also, since a lot of the guests are there for conventions, the buses aren't as full as some of the other resorts. At least in our experience. Besides, the resort is just beautiful. Definitely CS.

Congratulations!

Between the two, I'd definitely go Coronado Springs. Rooms are bigger, nicer.

That said, Coronado Springs is my least favorite moderate. Just not a fan of the Southwest design. I'm a Caribbean Beach sort of guy. You will find most folks here rave about Port Orleans.

Coronado Springs is the newest of the mods, and that's a plus.

But yes, if you are considering Coronado vs. Pop, definitely go for the moderate.

You're going to have a great time!

We are staying at CS next year. Does anyone have advice on the best building to stay in? We will request a building once we know what the best ones are. We would like to be in between the main pool and food courts without too long of a walk to either. If that is possible. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks everyone! I'm weary about it because I want to have my honeymoon to be in a beach setting... and I saw pics of hammocks so we can lay and relax!! But my travel agent is against Coronado and says it is too expensive, but then suggests I stay at the Polynesian, which is almost $400/night, which I can't afford. My other friend stayed at the Caribbean and said it was ok, but a very long walk to get to things.

I mean, I would love to stay at the Polynesian, but it's too expensive! So I think Coronado it is. :sohappy:

To make sure you get the "beachy" feeling while at Coronado request a room in the Cabanas section. They are a great location since most rooms are close to the pool, a bus stop, and to the main building. They are also the ones that have the nice sand beaches where as the other two themes do not.
Coronado is by far my favorite moderate resort, and I hope you enjoy staying there as much as I do!!!

You could still stay at Caribbean Beach. you can get a preferred room right by the food court and busses are at each section and the food court. its nice place to stay.

Since it is your Honeymoon I would go with CSR!
It is very romantic and has a small range of nightlife that a couple would enjoy over the child driven atmosphere of the POP.

~Edit~ Here is a something I post about CSR a couple years ago that gives a great explanation its offerings.

I love the Coronado Springs it is beautiful! I feel it has a more "adult" feel to it with the Salon & Spa, the Numerous bars and Restaurants, and now RIX Lounge.
If you are going with friends or your a young couple it is a great place to get away from the "family" side of Disney (IMO) not that the "family" side is a problem its just nice to have a break every once in awhile. With Pleasure Island closing the Boardwalk and the Coronado seem to be the place to be now when you would like to "party".
I post this in "Favorite Moderate Resorts" but I will add that with the Salon and Spa (Casa de Belleza) you can get Aesthetic and Massage Treatments together. At the Maya Grill or the Laguna Bar you could have a nice romantic dinner. Then go have some drinks and Dancing at Rix Lounge, finish the night with a walk around Lago Dorado (the Lake) and relax under the moon in the Hammocks that surround it. They also have boats which you could rent and take out for a nice day on the Lake, and the pools are all beautiful especially the "quiet" pools that are located in the three sections of the Resort. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip.
BTW The Coronado Springs has a Unnofficial site that is loaded with info and pictures of the Resort maybe that will help as well.
