Plan C for Pleasure Island

The trouble with ADH is that it is stuck over at the Boardwalk. If it were in a more central, easily accessable location I'm sure it would do quite well and attract a healthy crowd. (Although I'm not sure it offers the same atmosphere as Mannequins, Motion or 8-Trax...)

As for Splitsville, I'm cool with it. Nothing wrong with an upscale bowling alley. I'd also be fine with a Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Mostly though....the Club is what it's all about.

I have been in the club, it was pretty empty when i was there but i could see why people would like it

p.s. I want the Cheeseburger in Paradise since i am a rabid Parrothead and since Universal has Margaritaville i guess Cheeseburger is all the could open up lol

Im sorry but is no one else disgusted by his attack on people who use ECVs...my very close friend lost a leg in Iraq and uses and ECV in the park since it is easier on the rest of his body. :brick:
Not at all.
Read his quote again. He was very specific in which ECV users he was referring to. Disabled veterans were by no means his intended target.

DAY OFF?!?! I didn't think you were allowed any of those ... I could have made plans to hang out, which we must do before my globetrotting lifestyle kicks in again!:drevil::king:

I can only muster so much passion, even with the newbie here (Spirited tangent: 9/11 is ancient history and is not affecting WDW in any measurable way and hasn't for a good 5-6 years now ... sorry, but that has been tossed out a few times and needs a good refute!) ... I'm just hoping my DLP AP gets processed soon and that I can survive WDW and the farm first!

Are we bashing Meg or Lou now, I forgot? Or are we taking about how Disney is gonna make UNI give up Spidey and the Hulk? What about that fifth theme park that Fred the busdriver from Boston told us all is coming?

~Anyone got a gun?~

Sorry but you are wrong about 9/11...the american tourist and hospitality industry is still feeling the effects of that time...just saying

Okay then that makes it a little better. Still not right to attack the people who are bigger who use them but it is not as bad as what i thought he was attacking. Thank you Lee

Did you hear that Spirit...you're just not credible anymore because you hate everyone and anyone who uses an ECV. And you believe that people in Tomorrowland shouldn't use money because they should use super secret future space technology!

I owe you an email btw.

Yeah sorry i forgot...a BET bar, a disco bar, a pop bar, a dance bar are totally unique and unlike anything you can ever find. AC was somewhat unique. Comedy Club was not.....

No, they weren't ... but when PI opened it featured a mix of clubs unlike anywhere else. I am sure you can read blogs all about it online and familiarize yourself with what was there.

PI was like a theme park back in the day (no, not in its last 6-7 years when they were actively looking to kill it)

You guys fall under the assumption since YOU loved PI that means EVERYONE loved it and thought it was unique and awesome. Sadly that is not the case

I don't assume a thing ... let alone with the Disney fan community.

And while I enjoyed PI quite a bit, there are things I miss far more at WDW ...

But what's your deal in this discussion? Just looking for attention or do you think you have a real point to make? And what is it? You not missing PI isn't a point, just an opinion and we all can accept it.

You can directly email/snail mail any of the executives you want to. I thought you would know this sort of thing since you worked in concierge?

I'm starting to think this whole thread is a ruse.

I've thought the same for a while ... I just hope Mom doesn't come in and wipe all of our posts away that actually say something.

When you get a newbie poster who is combative from the start and seems to have boundless time and energy to 'take over' the discussion you do wonder about motives.

Ah, the Spirit hates everybody. Able-bodied/disabled, tall/short, skinny/fat, little hair/gorgeous hair....everybody.
Best to just accept it and move on.

Besides your disgusting attack on people who use ECVs then i would ask if you really care about Show so much then i guess in your opinion the stores in Adventureland would not take cash but would barter with people since cash machines are not Show worthy. In tomorrowland how would you pay for items since according to Show items should be made out of material we do not have nor would they use the currency we use.

You are so fixated on show that you forget reality.

First of all, no attack on ECV users, junior. Just a realistic statement ... and WDI is now designing shops (only stateside, so take that as either a point about how great we are as a nation where people can get so large or a damning indictment of our society and where we place health and nutrition) with ECVs and double wide strollers in mind (and I actually remember an era where you parked the stroller outside the shops and ECVs didn't exist and ... why am I bothering?)

And, yes, you show above that you have a very clear, cogent, reasoned view of what show is. Disney was/is lucky to have you!

ADH is empty because it's lame.

Jellyrolls is awesome, and usually packs a crowd.

And I'm going to tell you that you are wrong ... WDW was over 9/11 by the time Happiest Celebration began ... back in 2005.

The only lasting issues of 9/11 is that some internationals don't like how our government treats every overseas visitor as a potential terrorist, but that is in general.

WDW is doing great with both Americans and non-Americans. Look up the numbers ...

Yes. I do hate everyone. I admit it ... except for some family, some friends and the nice doggy I met last night on my walk (possum ran away when he saw me ... must have thought I was old CBOMB and he was gonna be dinner!)

I'd love to continue this, but I am so special I have an international phone call to take in a few ...

Lee, I'll likely phone ya up later too (just a warning, so you can pretend to be busy!:D)

You mean the numbers that you guys have said are down?

I do know that TOURISM across the board is nowhere near as high as it was back around 2000

So they kill Hyperion Wharf because, as a turn of the century boardwalk, they were afraid of developing a property that was too closely themed to an existing resort....

and they replace it with a mardi gras themed mall closely themed to an existing resort.

Wow!

Vision!

Creativity!

This is starting to get sad....

Yeah, really!

So, according to some, PI was closed (in part) due to rampant drinking, and incidents relating to the consumption of too much alcohol.

So, now Disney wants to re-theme the area in alignment with an event often characterized by......

Count me in as someone who is not a fan of the Mardi Gras theme. I know some like it but not I! We have two resorts with a NO theme and one of those is heavily themed to Mardi Gras. So, now we're getting a shopping and eating area with the same theme!?! I was fine with Hyperion Wharf and I'm not sure how it would have competed with the BW as they are still two different offerings. Is this even the real reason why they're changing the theme?

I really liked the concept art for HW, I'm a little disappointed it may be shelved now!

I'll admit, I liked some of what they had proposed, but sans the clubs I was never totally sold. Bottom line is that they have the ability and creativity to offer better. Unfortunately I don't know if they have the desire to, or the financial fortitude......

Its sad when people think that going against common sense is smart business practice.

Niche Markets are niches for a reason. Sorry but a store that caters to less than 3% of the people who visit WDW should not strain other stores. Imagine Epcot not being able to be built since all the profit of MK was going to keep niche stores afloat...

Once again you are completely missing the point and the only one who is acting like they have never been to business school is you. The clubs at Pleasure Island weren't privately owned. They were all owned by Disney so you can't look at "profitability" based on each establishment alone. People might be attracted to Downtown Disney as a whole because of something built for a niche audience and they might not actually spend money there but elsewhere. Still, if it weren't for that unique offering, the area wouldn't be as attractive to the person. Fountains don't pull in revenue on their own but companies still build them in malls for example because they make the shopping experience nicer for everyone and they encourage people to stay and shop longer. People don't throw money at the landscaping or architecture but businesses pay attention to those things as well. Your line of logic is essentially illogical.
