Pirates of the Caribbean Auctioneer/Redhead Changes NO POLITICS or SOCIAL ISSUES, PLEASE!

I feel sorry for the topic creator. All they wanted was a topic that didn't devolve into mudslinging.

Anyway I have the same position as before. Pirate gals are cool! The Redhead has neat lore behind her. Makes sense to combine them. That's all I have to say without going against TC's wishes.

So with the other thread shifting into the political, any chance we can have a discussion about the actual change itself while keeping the social issues in the other thread?

The other thread for social discussion can be found here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-redhead-is-changing.928716/

Are people too stupid to comprehend these two sentences? I've just deleted multiple posts and handed out multiple warnings because people refuse to follow instructions. Just STOP IT!!!
If someone goes off in the wrong direction, you do not have to respond!

I think that what is bothersome to so many people is not the subject matter of the scene itself but instead that the subject matter is portrayed in a way that makes light of some pretty heavy issues. It's the, "haha, look kids, it's people selling other people, isn't that fun and hilarious" portrayal that is actually the problem and not that anyone thinks this will lead little kids to grow up and commit pirate crimes or something. I do appreciate that in the end, the pirates get what's coming to them. Anyway, I think that's why Disney is changing the scene. However, since I don't think the ride works anymore with these and other changes (Jack I'm looking at you!), I think they'd be better off just re-imagining the entire thing. Like EPCOT Center, PoTC is dead Jim.

Is there an ETA when this is supposed to be closed, specifically for DL? The last two times I've been to DL Pirates has been closed for refurb. I'm going again in November and would like it to be open for once...

OK sorry I guess I was "too stupid" to follow directions... It was a discussion I did not know there was an alternate thread for discussing the nuances of the change versus the change

If you had read the first post in this thread, which establishes the topic being discussed, you would have seen it. If you had read the Terms of Service you would know that political (and certain other topics) are not allowed in discussion EXCEPT in the Political/Social Issues Forum. Which was created because people just couldn't control themselves.

Changing that one scene does not equal the attraction being dead. This could have been FAR worse.

So....are these guys going to get a more PoTC movie makeover or what?

The skull and crossbones on the hat seems a bit overly cartoonish.

Yeah, the POTC Films and the POTC ride really are two different things and should be treated as such. Every attempt to fuse the two together has just made things more complicated. Though I enjoyed the films, part of me really wishes they never existed or tanked like all the other ride-based movies.

And sorry for snapping at you. You were, unfortunately, just one of many who followed the others. ;)

And just a reminder to everyone from the ToS:

I want to apologize as well, I was honestly thinking that we were just still in the other thread somehow. I can't go back and be sure now, but I think I was just jumping off of what somebody else said. However, I'd like to think that I'm not "too stupid" for anything.

It's a sensitive subject either way, and I kinda think a thread like this isn't going to be much use until we have more to discuss than one piece of artwork and a description. The social implications of this change are pretty heavy, so any discussion about the change is really bound to travel down that path until the changes at least debut in DLP.

You're right that changing one scene doesn't kill the ride. I wish that was the only change though... For example, as someone pointed out the other day, Jack Sparrow isn't even in the same timeline as the PoTC ride. In my opinion (for what its worth lol), if Disney wants a Jack Sparrow ride they need to just give us the Shanghai version Otherwise, to me it makes no sense to have him pop up 100 times in the current ride. Just my opinion though. :angelic:
