There is no refurb. The tarp is a permanent addition put in place to protect guests from falling tiles.

Thank heavens. This exterior refurbishment is long overdue. Should have been done about 5 years ago, but better late than never.
While we are talking about M:S, any one know the status of HP's sponsorship and when its due for renewal? These things tend to be on 10 year time frames and we're at that later this year.
The contract with HP is up for renewal this year (2013). Given HP's current financial concerns it's probably not likely that they will seek a renewal (that's supposition on my part by I've read several things to support that.)
Don't suppose anyone can have a peak behind the scrims and see if the HP signage is being removed?
So which possible suitors could Disney reach out to sponser this attraction if HP backs out of their sponsership?
The top of the largest element (the big red ball that was presumably meant to be Mars) was very dirty.I'm confused as to why the outside is being refurbed; it looked fine, but okay.

I have been told by an engineer that in order for this to happen with the current spinning system, each of the different scenes would have to result in the same motion of the cabin. While not impossible, it makes it more difficult. I suspect it would be easier to start from scratch with this approach rather than maintain the current mission and add new ones.If they could have different scenes (like Star Tours) where each adventure is different, would make the ride...re-rideable.
I would ride more than once a Epcot visit if I had the chance of taking part in a different story.
Also, update to HD video. It's 2013 for heaven's sake!

Yes. It has happened once to me (I wasnt the individual with air sickness, unfortunately the kid next to me was, and thank god for G-Forces ... it pretty much stayed confined to his 'compartment').Oh don't tell me that really happens![]()
I mean, there IS a reason they put the bags in the capsules, hah.Oh don't tell me that really happens![]()
just dont look sideways when spinning
They wouldn't remove anything until hp's made its official decision. And I thought the big red planet was Saturn withe the building being its rings and the little red one that has the rocket around it marsThe contract with HP is up for renewal this year (2013). You can test the effect on the Teacups. I do it for fun. Spin the cup real fast, then move your head sideways to the opposite direction the cup is going in, making a ninety degree angle, or more. You can increase the effect by moving your eyes sideways too, almost looking over your shoulder behind you. You get quite dizzy real quick. Not for the faint of heart! They tell you not to look sideways during spinning, and the curious half of me wants to try it to see what happens. But I haven't got the guts to do that!
What does happen exactly? Do you just get sicker or what?
This calls for Astronaut Figment! Remember him? (Of course you do, who am I kidding!)I can*t speak for other people, but i can tell you why i like this attraction.
I find it a exercise in using your imagination. It is fun to pretend you are really blasting off, and whipping around the Moon on your way to Mars. I find it amusing and a hoot. The fact you are often in a capsule with other Guests you don*t know often makes it even more amusing as you get to enjoy their often first experience of it all.
It is a little sad though...considering that the pavillion to have this fun, imaginative experience in is NOT the Imagination Pavillion.
Yes, sad indeed.
I strongly feel that if it had not replaced Horizons, there would not be much hostility toward Mission Space.I'm nauseated by the constant complaints about it. It's a fantastic unique attraction, sure as a pavillion it could use some more.
Darn, you're a she! She, but yeah. I never really had a point of reference to begin with and it was a nutty day for me in general, but I'm glad it's getting refurb work since everybody else is pointing out how it is needed.
I just figured it was neutral, ha. Plus it's a username I've often used on sites for over six years now.Darn, you're a she.
What's with all these gender-confusing names?![]()
