For those thinking that Disney have single handedly ruined Star Wars, you obviously never saw the original Chewbacca tv series
Or the prequels.

And that's part of the problem with some of these fans. The franchise is something that is growing, changing and that the baton is being handed over to the next generation. My 10 year old daughter LOVED The Last Jedi, more than any other Star Wars movie before it. It was made more for her generation than ours. That was sort of one of the themes of the film and there are some people who just can't accept that. Lucas himself even said that the target audience was 12 year olds and it is... AND 12 years olds at heart.
Or the prequels.
Bog Iger was shambolic for the first ten years. It's only really now he's playing catch up.
As for Star Wars - does anyone think perhaps the franchise maybe slowing down? The last movie was poorly received critically and commercially. It took less than 400 million worldwide than Jurrasic World, even Black Panther is set to over take it commerically.
What's even more astonishing is it took less money by a big margin that Fast And the Furious 7 !
I see the hype regarding the actual franchise, i see a fair few parents trying to sell it to their children as though it's some important biblican movie - and the media hype it to the max. But with the way Disney are going about it, that studio like feel to each movie - i don't see it any bigger than the Marvel Universe.
The land will be crazy busy, but a few years down the line it will slow down IMO.
Or maybe you were just expecting too much from a formula studio like Disney...Audience score on Rotten Tomatoes was 47%. It has been widely panned by the consumers. The Box Office for a Star Wars movie was weak. Furthermore, if they are creating a poor product it will eat into the next movie.
Take away the hype, and it's essentially just another Marvel type product, rather than some biblican proportion epic event that it's sold as these days.
The problem with the two movies that have come out, is that you can tell a studio, execes have had their imprints all over it, rather than it being some independent vision. You'll have an exec there who is saying we need a female character here to appeal young girls, we need a robot here so we can make money from the merchandise, and we can't kill this character off because it will eat into merchandise sales. It's all too safe. They've spent so much acquiring the rights to it, that they just don't want to destroy it, and are playing too safe.
The Last Jedi was simply awful.

Non-scientific, self-selecting internet poll is non-scientific and self-selecting. IOW, likely to be wrong. A vocal minority is still a minority.
'Last Jedi' gets thumbs up from 89% of viewers, says new poll
The article you link to is from December 20, 2017 ....5 days after the movie came out so I wouldn’t put much faith in it
This whole post is deja vu from 2 years ago when a bunch of people were saying the exact same things about Pandora at DAK. People think they have an informed decision solely based on models and pictures, and let their disillusionment with Disney fill in the rest. You can't pass judgement on something that you haven't yet experienced when it comes to theme parks, but it seems like some people already have their mind made up, because Disney is always the bad guy, right?Y’all about ripping something apart before it gets started.
The scientific poll was asking the first weekend viewers what they thought. That was at the time that the RT audience score tanked. So, yeah, it is relevant to show that the RT audience score was manipulated and an outlier. Other online internet polls at the time, such as the one at IDMB showed a similar positive score from the audience with even more people 'reviewing' it.
Not to mention that CinemaScore, another scientific polling of the audience, gave it an A.
And comScore’s PostTrack uses a more scientific sampling of people who have actually seen the movie found that 68% rated “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” as “excellent” and another 21% as “very good.” A total of 82% said they would “definitely recommend” the film.
So just because something is meant for 12 year olds, we can dismiss the completely nonsensical approach that was taken with TLJ. The movie is a disaster plot wise, character wise, dialogue wise, etc etc. Things can grow and change all they want but it still must adhere to the rules set by the previous films in a series and make sense. Lucas said that Star Wars (the film released in 1977) was meant for 12 year olds and then followed that up with The Empire Strikes Back, which is considered a masterpiece and one of the greatest (if not the greatest) sequels of all time. Maybe we thought that movies meant for children could still be great back then. The mindset of forgiving the faults with Disney’s Star Wars by using the excuse that “they’re kids movies” is not a valid reason and TESB backs that up. Its a kids movie so the storytelling doesn’t matter, really? It’s great that your 10 year old loves TLJ but that doesn’t make up for it being not only a bad Star Wars movie but simply a bad movie. I love Star Wars more than anything besides my child but I don’t blindly accept anything they slap the Star Wars label on. So maybe the problem with “some of these fans” is accepting things that don’t stack up to what came before.
Compared to Harry Potter fans no. Go to universal. Half the kids are wearing house cloaks and have wands.
You don't get that at Star Tours/DHS on a regular day.
The critics seemed to enjoy it. Why is that?
TLJ was a great movie if only for the reason that they showed what a bunch of ignoramuses the Jedi were as evidenced by the prequels. The Canto Bight scene could have been removed along with the Rose character but otherwise it was a great movie. Let the past die, kill it if you have to.Maybe they were scared of being banned from the advanced screenings of Disney films like the LA Times was ... haha just playin’
The Empire Strikes Back received poor reviews from critics even though it’s pretty much unanimously considered the best Star Wars film and a masterpiece. Why is that?
Personally, I don’t care what critics think and make up my mind on my own. I’ll listen to the opinions of people I know in real life or on the Star Wars collecting forums I’m a member of and then enjoy the debates back and forth. I do not for a second consider what paid critics have to say.

Go back and watch old clips from when TPM was first released and people are on video leaving the theater loving it but we now know how a majority criticize that film.
TESB was widely panned when first released but is now considered an all time classic.
So a poll of 4,500 people taken less than a week after a films release is sort of meaningless
