The implication made was that the change in directors caused the storyline to veer unevenly. Finn was a lead in the first movie and was relegated to a supporting character with a new storyline that was inconsistent with the first movie.

Johnson the director of 'The Last Jedi' intended to kill of the character Finn. Instead during production the studio decided against this.

The poster was pointing out that he had been relegated to a supporting role anyways, so they might as well have killed him off. His character went nowhere.

Hang on at first it was because of Finn and his marginlisation, now it's because Rose was cast because of the need of a Chinese audience (where both Star Wars movies have flopped).

I find your analogy a bit misplaced

1) Star wars has 3 fold the following. The two properties are nowhere equals. Star wars has noticeably more longevity and richer history as well as a much wider fan base.
2) Potter is two lands connected via themed out "E tickish" style attraction(Hog Express)

The hype that surrounded Potter was not even in the same galaxy as the hype of this Star wars land. Universal saw a colassal hype, no doubt, but nowhere near the chatter of a Star Wars.

But Potter had more attention from its creator. She oversaw a ton of the little details that makes WWOHP impressive to people like me that don't give a hoot about potter. I LOVE star wars but I have my doubts that it will be as good beyond the opening few months.

Yeah Rowling has total control.
Disney wasn't willing to give Rowling total control which is why she rejected Disney and went with Universal.

I think they offered her a potter themed midway mania as an attraction... MIB is better than midway mania, I don't see why they thought it would make a good attraction.

As a huge Star Wars fan and long time Vintage (toys made from 1977-1985) Star Wars collector, I am completely disappointed in what Disney has planned for their Star Wars Land. I’m a George Lucas purist and not a fan of what Disney has done so far with the franchise. I’ve often thought how great a Star Wars theme park be but I’m disappointed that the land is not based on the OT but more so on Disney version of Star Wars. If you told me the land and rides were based on the OT, I would be there day 1 no matter the cost but now I feel I’ll check it out someday I guess. Star Wars has been my favorite thing since being child in the 80’s and it kills me that this land is not for me.

Isn't the simulator based on the Millenium Falcon, can't get more original than surely? As for the other ride, doesn't it contain AT-AT's again from the original? I get the 'land' isn't from the original movie but surely there's content in the rides that is?

Actions figures weren't even available until 1978. There was very little merchandise the first year, t-shirts, posters, trading cards. It took a year for it to hit but then it hit big. They made a fortune off of it and continue to do so. Hasbro has been taking a hit lately due to their poor distribution and their lack of quality. They started making figure that lack articulation and started to make cheap stuff... they actually started that years ago. Its a shame, hopefully they get back on track.

I think the key here is for both the rides to be really big time and among the best at the parks. As good as FoP is, I think some people still consider Avatar a disappointment because FoP is really the only big draw.

I can understand how it could turn out to be overhyped, but I'll say that if we get everything Disney is promising us that it won't disappoint. They seem to be making a point to have theming and characters in every part of the land, which would mean only 2 rides could still be enough. If the actual area turns out to look just like the model we've seen and matches the CGI version seen in the Star Tours scene, I think it will be satisfying.

I will add that I have been a huge SW fan for years, and I too am a little disappointed in the reliance on the newer films, and not having the Rebellion and original stormtroopers, etc. But I also understand why they did it,

I would say that SWGE could be an even bigger draw than Harry Potter thanks to a -- what I believe is -- more rabid fandom, and one that stretches over decades. I enjoyed the Harry Potter movies, but I still think those fans skew younger, whereas SW has been a big part of the lives of people in their 40s, 50s and older.

That's where I land on this.

If its another FOP and Navi Small world, then its a failure, IMO.

If they can get 2 real headliners in there, then I'd say it would be a success.

Don't believe they will scale back on the Star Wars attractions.

I suspect they'll do well with the attractions, though I'm not that excited about piloting the Falcon. It seems too much like a video game, but that comes down to personal preference more than anything else.

What I wonder is if they can really do all the immersive things they promise in the area. Given the huge crowds, how can they have robots moving around, a bounty hunter targeting you in the cantina, or anything resembling a unique experience. There will just be too many people there.

If I'm not mistaken they shortened the boat ride and took out parts where it was supposed to go outside...

Also on Star wars, initially it was supposed to have three rides, I believe. Already shortened to two.

I know I am probably wrong.. but the dreamer in me hopes they are making the parking entrance to the east so they can expand star wars land at some point or add a few more lands.. without that entrance drive there is a good amount of land to expand south with park

As someone who hated the original trilogy and only became a fan from reading the books, I am looking forward to Galaxy's Edge for providing us with more of the expanded stories that tge books did.
