Over hyped Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

It's as though people feel angry that Pandora has been so popular since opening after multiple years of declaring how nobody would be interested in it, that they're starting criticising GE instead. It's all about opinions etc but you'd think they'd actually been there and tried it judging by the negativity :D

I don't think they would know what to do if they could not 1) complain and 2) declare how HP land is/will be better

Star Wars was overhyped in the park once they axed the Magic of Disney Animation for it.

They didn't axe the animation attraction for Star Wars. That attraction was going away with our without Star Wars. I agree that it is and will remain a huge loss, but apparently it wasn't working for The Mouse.

The guests will show and fanatics spend the money no matter what because the largest IP, and the park is still starving for attractions. What could be interesting is how harsh some will be. This project's big production media was likely in the midst of The Last Jedi.

Technically, they did.

Even if it was a shadow of its former self (like the park itself)

There was nothing left, really. It was embarrassing for all parties. At least what's there now has maybe built a little excitement for GE. Maybe?

That attraction died when they moved the animators out. Like Future World, they might as well go ahead and end it.

I think the scale of this will be the problem, like it was for Universal when Potter opened. It's probably too small of a "land". They will have to expand it out, like Universal did, maybe annex some space from another park and create transportation like was done there. This probably should have been a whole park with different "lands" being the planets in the OT.

Well I'm a product of the '70s and grew up with the original trilogy. So figuring that Myself and a large horde of people who should have the disposable income are of age to go and trek down to one of the parks. To tell you the truth our first HP experiance will be this august.

I liked Avatar, but I barely connect it to Pandora -- I don't think you need to appreciate (or have seen) Avator at all to enjoy Pandora. I think people could likewise enjoy Wizarding World and the Potter rides, regardless of whether they appreciate (or have seen) the Harry Potter movies/books -- the reveal of Hogwarts at Potter land is a *breathtaking* moment for even the weakest Potter fan. I can take or leave Star Wars but I'm hoping for something similar with Galaxy's Edge - that it stands on its own outside the movies, and that there are breathtaking moments for fans, and great rides and experiences for take-it-or-leave-it types. I'm also interested in the Star Wars hotel, but I hope it's not necessary to have THISMUCH!!!!! enthusiasm for Star Wars to enjoy the hotel/amenities/park access. (I'll be seriously rethinking that if it truly doesn't have a way to switch over to actual windows from screens and if there isn't much in the way of amenities unrelated to character interaction, etc.)

This may have been posted before, but has someone been able to estimate the anticipated size, in terms of walkable space, for either the Florida or California versions of the Star Wars lands?

A plan like that is beyond nonsensical.....
sheer crazytalk. I've read some outlandish stuff on here but this has got to be a "top fiver".

I don't have numbers, but @marni1971 posted this pic in the Studios Development thread. Red is the basic outline for guest facing space. However, based on the models I think it may go a little closer on the bottom part, as there's a Tie Fighter placed near there.

Why... theres a parking lot not too far (they can always use parking garages or move them farther back) and there is land right across the road... so worst case maybe some kind of train.. to take you to a few blocks over.. but nobody would do that...

When you compare the value of the IP vs Potter and want to maximize investment and attendance, you've got to look at crazy things like this. Sure, when you look at what Universal has, it's far less than WDW has in terms of IPs, but the longevity of Star Wars through three generations makes it a proven entity. It's a vast, vast, IP with so many characters and stories.

What are you talking about? What's this IP stuff all about.....it has nothing to do with my claim that taking a themed land and spanning 2 WDW parks with it is laughably ludicrous.

~~~Ain't that like a 'disjuncter'..... bringing an IP to a real estate/space planning fight~~~
How in the world can you feasibly link one themed land(such as a Star Wars) among two WDW parks which are miles apart?
How???
Answer: there is no workable way, none.
As the crow flies, it's actually less than a mile from the France pavilion to the construction fence for Galaxy's Edge.
It might be possible to establish a link between the two parks using blacked-out themed electric buses that travelled on the service roads behind the parks, or new dedicated lanes parallel to them, though crossing Buena Vista Drive without stopping for traffic would require an overpass.
I agree, though, that the entire premise is preposterous, and unlike Universal, Disney has no pressing financial incentive to drive guests to buy hopper tickets to visit two parks to see all their Star Wars options; the majority of Disney guests are already making multi-day, multi-park trips.
If Disney wants to build more Star Wars in Florida at some point, they'll keep it at the Studios.
