Over hyped Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Two good rides are a draw, but then what? This is probably 2 hours, tops for your day.
Personally I can't wait for these to open so I can go thru the rest of the park that much faster.
Fantasyland has Peter Pan, Small World, Philharmagic, The Carousel , Pooh and on the border the Tea Cups. That's 6 rides I count.
Adventureland has Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Bear Jamboree, Pirates, SFR Tree House, Jungle Cruise...................ummm 7?
2 just doesn't cut it and the Navi River with one animatronic and the Flight of Fancy sitting right on each other and the screen...Bogus, man!
They're putting in the effort on what's there, they've just gone shallow on rides and hiding it with lotsa atmosphere-ala Avatar.

It pays to hype and advertise but that wears off.
My favorite Disney example: John Carter

I do wish that for these new lands we could get more attractions like the lands at MK. Especially if they're only going to do one big one and an off the rack ride or standard dark ride. But if both the SW rides are FoP level it will be worth it.

I'm looking forward to it, but going to try not to expect too much and will hope to be pleasantly surprised (and I love Harry Potter at Universal & IOA - went for the first time last month and it far exceeded my expectations).

Oh yeah because Country Bear Jamboree and the Tree House are totally on the same scale as these two rides. What a dumb comment. Two headliner attractions are about what each land has. Unless you want a BB8 carousel to just fill up valuable space they could use for something else. I would rather have less rides with higher quality.

Also, they have been saying that there is going to be a big interactive portion to this new land. So, it seems that they are striving for a Renaissance Fair type of concept where you'll interact with the various wandering Star Wars characters. I think that this would increase the amount of time guests will spend in this land, without necessarily going on rides.

this is one of them.
Spock, I feel a strong urge to take some 'splash' and 'thunder' out of your argument....I just can't 'bear' with you on this.

((((Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain and Bears are in Frontierland)))

Pretty big Star Wars fan here - I'm very confident whatever they produce will be pretty fantastic and will be happy. Think its going to be an amazing land that my family & I may get to see sometimes in 2025 when the lines thin haha.

Absolutely correct, the lands kinda blend together as you go around. I think of Country Bears and Huck's Island as more Frontier Land.
I think my brain was in a McDonald French Fry haze as I round that corner.

Still, just 2 rides?

Why cant there be both quality AND quantity so you spend more time in that land?
You completely assume these will be quality rides, not sure what quality is.
Do you find the Navi River Journey quality? If so, than Disney has lowered the bar and we love it.

Seriously.

We just rode the River Journey yesterday. First time for our kids ages 9 and 5. These are kids who love IASW. I asked how they liked the river journey, and the 9 year old said, it was fine, but we don't have to ride it again. The 5 year old said, "why didn't we ride the banshee?"....

I was pretty hard on that ride the first time I rode it. But riding it again has soured me on that even more. That ride is terrible. And to be the only other ride in that land makes it even worse.

Star Wars can't have their second ride come even close to that level of disappointment. If it does, then they failed.

So one of the issues of course is that different rides float different folks. Now me, I enjoyed Navi river, it was ok. No I would not wait 120 minutes for it but I don't wait 2 hours for ANY ride EVER. as I've said many times, Denzel Washington would have to be at the end of a ride for me to ever wait that long for a ride. just me.

Now I'm not a Disney purist, I still can't understand why folks are flipping out over the change in a scene in PoTC and why people seem to hate rides based on movies? I couldn't care less what a ride is based on.
Now I think Star wars will be pretty cool. again, there will never be anything built anywhere, ever that will make me think waiting 2 hours is the way to go.

As far as whether it's "over hyped"?? that's a silly question. Marketings job is to make one feel as if one's product must be had. that it will make all the women pretty and all men rich and young. of course Disney is going to hype it. You think things are over hyped now, wait until we get close to the 50th. I wouldn't be surprised if they get the pope to say "I'm going to disneyworld" in a commercial

I didn't get the hype around "potterland" over at universal either.

The bigger issue at this point is whether or not the Land can accommodate the hype. If the rides struggle to move 1,500 guests and hour, are prone to breaking down or guests are stuck waiting in the rest of DHS for hours just for a chance to get in, they will not be happy.

You actually do make a point that the hype is making it seem like Disney is building an entirely new park. I'm certain the land is going to be the best in all of Walt Disney Parks anywhere but I understand the concern that many people are being led to believe that the land is going to be more than it actually is.

Ok, Navi River aside and trying not to turn this thread into a White House Press Conference,
I hold a lot of hope for ToystoryLand and StarWarsLand, um, er-ah-Galaxy's Edge, pardon, don't know what came over me, even though they each also only have to have two rides.
PofTC scene change, as humans, we don't deal well with change but it seems they did a pretty good job.
Like all the other lemons we're handed, make lemonade. It's a theme park ride not changing the Constitution!

To resident Star Wars fans, serious question-is the Star Wars Hotel on hold???

Wow ...hold on while I go throw away the collection of vintage Star Wars toys I’ve spent 25 years acquiring since I must not be a “true” fan. Myself and many other “true” fans are not interested in becoming part of the story (especially a story involving Disney’s version of SW) but would much rather visit the locations and experience the moments that are special to us and not something that wasn’t created by the original creator (Lucas) of the SW universe. Disney Star Wars is not “true” Star Wars.
Seriously..... I want to go to Hoth and other Lucas created worlds.... Not some corny galaxy edge.....
Bring on Mos Eisley.

Iger has been an absolute failure for expansion at WDW. I'm just happy we're getting 2 major rides at a park in desperate need.

While it should be more, don't be so cynical. It's going to be great.

It's hoped that it will be great, Yet the subject matter was worthy of its own GATE, What should have been done is a 3'rd Marvel gate out west and a 5'th Star Wars gate at WDW.

They are so missing an opportunity for a whole fifth gate with Star Wars...

A 5'th Star Wars only gate would have been a license to print money and probably would have been instantly the second most visited park in Orlando. It's just a symptom of Iger's unwillingness to INVEST in the parks business - so what happens is we get two low capacity rides and when it opens there will be a vast number of disappointed guests who never get to see it as demand will be on the order of FoP x1000, FP's will be gone in seconds at the 60 day window.

Or maybe you were just expecting too much from a formula studio like Disney...

With Disney my expectations are always low and Disney always manages to disappoint anyway., I should expect nothing out of Disney except truly creative financial engineering...
