Our 8th WDW Adventure..the trip I 'took out' one of my teenage sons..that's Rippin'!

Here it is, the next installment in our Disney adventures hot off the press for your reading pleasure. For those who’ve followed my last reports (and I, theirs) rest assured that this report will rival my first from January ’09. One of y’all must’ve ratted me out to Tinkerbell and had her read my last report because she tracked us down after we got to WDW and thoroughly flogged us with her wand o’pixie dust. We inhaled. Then we drank the water. The result was a rocket-shot straight to the top of the magic-meter....and our faith in wishing upon stars to make dreams come true has been restored in full and then some. So....please stand clear of the doors....por favor mantanganse alijado de las puertas....hold onto your hats and glasses, ‘cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!!!!

Preface: ((<---heh-heh...Who puts a preface in their TRs???))

I couldn’t do this report justice without a bit of back-story for the usual gang out there who tunes in. Everyone else can just skip forward. Let’s be honest, we all sorta vaguely follow each other’s lives indirectly by reading each others’ reports and conversing over various topics. We catch the milestones as they relate to our common thread of Disney addiction. I don’t know if others are as insane as we are but our lives tend to revolve around our Disney adventures in some way, shape, or form. The significance of our 8th family adventure can’t be appreciated unless you hear some of the highlights since we last left you at the conclusion of our 7th trip in January this year.

Did ya notice the underlying sadness in that last trip and report? We did. For months we blamed it on Mother Nature’s cruel-n-frigid prank with the weather. As 2010 progressed we came to understand where the dark cloud that seemed to follow us around really came from. It came from us. Yep. We did that. Going into that trip we knew that this year was going to be rough. Tracey had already been job searching for over a month. We knew his project was nearing completion and jobs in his line of work were evaporating daily. Even with the nest-egg we had worked so hard to prepare ourselves with, the uncertainty the future held was overwhelming. So we arrived at WDW on that trip not knowing if or when we’d be able to return. The thought that we were staring down what could potentially be our last adventure for quite some time was heartbreaking. For an example: the joy & excitement in arriving was overshadowed from the very start by the sad idea that we possibly wouldn’t have that again. You see? It was those kinds of things that had us dragging that dark rain cloud around with us everywhere we went. At the conclusion of our January 2010 trip we actually gave thought to the idea that maybe our pixie dusted glasses had been shattered and the magic that used to live within our hearts had all but died. I wasn’t sure we’d ever go back even if everything worked out in the months to come.

And then life has it’s way of flinging the perspective stick it at you. In our family’s case, it was the whole stinkin’ tree.

Our year of insanity included: Tracey unemployed for the first time in 17 years, me standing up to the bubba’s in the public school system here and taking back control of our children’s educations, Tracey set a new record for himself (gotta laugh) for the most number of employers within a single year at 4 while the boys & I plunged headlong into homeschool together which is HUGE and life-changing in itself. It’s been crazy with all the twists-n-turns and the ups-n-downs. There were numerous times we could literally see ourselves losing everything we’ve worked so hard for all these years. In spite of everything that life threw at us, we were still happier than we’d been in a long time. Like Mama Odie says to Tiana & Naveen, ya gotta know whatcha neeeeeed. With each other we have always had everything we needed. Everything else, all the stuff, even Walt Disney World...it’s all just the lagniappe. Without life kicking us square in the tookus so our big ol’ heads could pop out for 2 1/2 minutes we might have gone on overlooking the best stuff in life.

And so we arrived at our 8th Walt Disney World adventure raring to go with a renewed perspective and a whole lot to be thankful for: each other.

Enough of all that mushy-gushy stuff. Let’s get this show on the road!

Here’s the particulars and the plan:

WHO: Tracey/DH, Chandler/DS-14 yro, Brian/DS-13 yro, Riley Belle/DFG (Dear Furry Girl), and Kelly/me!

WHERE & WHEN: (it was a 3 week multi-part road trip)

<-- 11/8-11/11..........Gramma’s house in Pensacola, Florida
<-- 11/11-11/21........Walt Disney World: Port Orleans French Quarter and Best Friends Pet Resort
<-- 11/21-11/28........My folk’s house/Nana & Grandpaw’s house in Monroeville, Alabama

THE TWISTS:

The boys & I aren’t limited to the schedule that Tracey has with work. We drove and had fun along the way. Tracey flew in to meet us at WDW on arrival day and flew back to Houston on departure day. Thanksgiving morning he flew again & I picked him up. Even with all the gas in the car added to Tracey’s airfare(s) we still spent less than we would’ve for the 4 of us to fly round trip to Orlando. We haven’t had our own car at WDW with us since our 4th family trip. Having our car there was something I really, really wanted again and am sooooo glad we did. Besides, I love a good road trip and that time spent with just me & the boys was a blast!

There was quite a crowd headed out of the park. Tracey figured we could head towards Epcot for out dinner ADR at Via Napoli by way of the Beach Club & International Gateway. Sounded good to me. We waited and waited for a bus without too much misery. The first one we stepped aside to wait for the next because of the wheelchair. We aren’t the type to expect front-of-line access just because of that. We struck up a nice conversation with an older couple who were also waiting (the mister was in an ECV...he was on O2 because he had lost a lot of lung capacity a few years previous from lung cancer). The next bus came along but the bus driver was obviously pretty new. She had a devil of a time getting the fellow in the ECV onto the bus. We helped Chandler up & folded his chair. The whole process with the ECV took a good 5 - 10 minutes. Other guests were grumbling which kinda got on my nerves but I bit my tongue. The new-ish driver wasn’t the smoothest on the way to the Swan/Dolphin. The ECV guy needed to get off there which had the driver all in a tizzy. She got all flustered and was actually fussing at the couple which really was uncalled for. What’s worse was when she got back behind the wheel of the bus she vented her frustrations with her driving. That chick was a wild woman! After the 2nd turn she practically did a hook-slide around Tracey said to me, “Yacht is next & we’re getting off. That *b-expletive* is gonna hurt someone.”

Got some nice pics as we walked towards the International Gateway.

And we spotted a Disney bunny.

DSCN0785.jpg

Into Epcot we went. The boys looked on patiently & allowed Tracey & me a little parent-sap moment. Everybody now..... Awwwww.....

Photo0039FourBySix.jpg

We were pretty hungry again so we didn’t hang around anywhere on the way to Italy for very long. Oh no. We had a new dining experience awaiting us! We checked in at Via Napoli a little early & waited a good 15 minutes to be seated. Pretty colors!

DSCN0787.jpg

I remembered Holly & Brett’s experience here so I read the flatbread selections carefully. Tracey chose his Italian standby: spaghetti which he said was good but not great. Both boys went with their standby: cheese pizza = Margheritta flatbread which they were okay with. I decided on the Quattro Formagio which was the most killer yummy thing eeeeevah!!!! OMG! OMG! It was soooooo stinkin’ good. People around us kept looking to make sure I wasn’t doing something I shouldn’t in the public with all my oooh’s and uuum’s and aaaaah’s while I was eating. Dadgummit was gooooood!

IMG_3090.jpg

Tracey isn’t at all a dessert person because he’s not that into sweets. Normally he just asks for some vanilla ice cream. Tonight was different. For whatever reason he went a little wild and ordered the tiramisu. Via’s isn’t super-sweet or sugary and he really enjoyed it. As he ate it he would pick out different flavors he was getting from various ingredients. “What’s the powdery stuff on top? That tastes sorta cocoa-ey. There’s a lot of it.” Me: “Yes dear. That’s cocoa powder. If it’s too much just scrape it to the side.” He gets all the way to the last bite and comments, “I swear I’m tasting coffee but that makes no sense.” Me: “Why not? Tiramisu has a bit of coffee in it, too.” Well that was the wrong thing to say. I thought he was gonna spit the bite in his mouth back onto the plate in front of God & everyone. “What?!?!?! There’s coffee in this and you didn’t TELL ME?!?!?!” You’da thunk I was intentionally trying to cash in on his life insurance or something. What a goober. I didn’t think about it beforehand. It’s a trivial amount at best. Tracey, who used to live & breathe on Dr. Pepper, gave up drinking all caffeine a while back for health reasons. Between his high blood pressure and other manly issues he had to (and it’s AMAZING what a difference it’s made in his overall health, too). It took a moment but I did convince him he wouldn’t die from the the trivial amount of caffeine he may have ingested. So here’s the killer tiramisu which was absolutely great:

IMG_3091.jpg

Also, had to make a note: Brian got the chocolate gellato which he let me try, too. It also wasn’t overly sweet which made it taste more like a semi-sweet chocolate which I freakin’ looooove. Excellent food. We’ll be going back to Via Napoli in the future!

When we rolled out of the restaurant we were stuffed to the gills and quite worn out from the day’s adventures. We started making our way towards the front of the park & the exits. Along the way we stopped into the Duffy shop near the new meet & greet spot. I was so anxious & excited to go in there but found it pretty disappointing. They had only 2 outfits stocked and a couple different Duffy’s. I was bummed.

As we waited for the bus we met yet another cool family in line. Fantastic folks. The mister is a New Jersey state trooper. His Mrs. was adorable and ever-so-chatty which is just ducky with me. I am, too. The kids (I think 3 of them) were so well-behaved and friendly. Just before the bus arrived Tracey & I did a quick once-thru on our game plan to get Chandler up into the bus then his chair folded, etc. We tried to keep the procedure from holding up the masses and imposing on anyone. Well, our new friends heard us talking about it and the mister volunteered to help Tracey with Chandler. The guy was a really, really big guy ((fist-bump to his Mrs....good work, girl!)). I had no doubt he could one-arm Chandler over his shoulder and haul him right up the steps. LOL! So when the bus arrived we all got on lickety-split and had a fun ride back to the resort. And wouldn’t ya know the kiddo got some help getting back down out of the bus, too. Can I just say that really sweet people who jump right in & go out of their way to lend a hand are the best??? Tracey & I always try to be that kind of person just because it’s the right thing to do as a human-being. This trip presented several angels who gave us a hand. We think of them and appreciate them when we talk about the trip. That’s the good stuff, y’all. That’s the good stuff.

We were back at the resort by 8:00. Brian & Tracey wanted to swim while I washed up the laundry....again. Don’t laugh. I do no less than 2 loads a day at home and I have great big front-loader machines. The cooler temps at night had taken a toll on the water temps in the pool. Brian & Tracey didn’t stay in the water long at all. The boys went to the arcade while we finished up the laundry. And that concludes another day for us.

There IS a lot to be learned at WDW. I love that. :D

Yeah, I think I'd like to do that same week again sometime. It was great. We'd like to shoot for a long trip next September. We'll have to see how the $$ works out, tho. Otherwise, I'd like to hit November 2012 for a trip. It was soooo nice...

I LOVE your TR's, you have such a beautiful family.

Merry Christmas
Rach

Thanks so much for the sweet comment about my family. I kinda like 'em, too. :animwink: Merriest of Christmases to you & yours as well!

WDW Day 7 - November 17th: Yay for an increasing awesome-meter! We are in the ZONE!

WDW Day 7 - November 17th: Yay for an increasing awesome-meter! We are in the ZONE!

Does anyone else ever feel that? It seems like we’re always at WDW a good 3 - 4 days before we hit our stride and the awesome-meter is straight-up in ‘the zone’. That’s why I like our trips to be longer. I want to be in ‘the zone’ as long as possible!

Today we got up at 6:45. The guys all had a quicky breakfast in the room (boxed doughnuts & milk) and I took mine with me on the way out (oatmeal & coffee, of course). While doing laundry last night I convinced Tracey to try taking the legs off that wheelchair this morning, folding it up, and putting it into the trunk of the car. We hurried to give ourselves plenty of time just in case it didn’t work out. It did! Success!!!! Now we aren’t stuck with the buses!!! We arrived at the DHS gate @ 8:10 eagerly awaiting rope drop.

While we waited Chandler looked thru my camera at my pics. Then I found this awesome shot added to the mix. It’s Chandler’s feet!

DSCN0788.jpg

Tracey killed time by reading the news again.

DSCN0789.jpg

Just before the turnstiles opened up I looked back to size up the competition for the race that lay ahead. There was a good bit of competition.

DSCN0790.jpg

Once we got thru the turnstiles we took up our spot on the right side by the little shop there on the corner to wait for the next rope to drop. I love the way the morning sunlight looks and I needed to take some pics to pass the time...

DSCN0792.jpg

Then I looked into the shop area to see what was good in there. Ooooh....haven’t seen THAT Duffy yet! I waaaaaant!!!! I pointed out the cool 2011 Duffy’s to Tracey. I like that size a lot!

DSCN0791.jpg

While we waited Tracey & I reviewed our game plan. Neither of us is fond of ‘the herd’. You know which one I’m talking about. Now we had a wheelchair to maneuver. We debated the pro’s & con’s of what order to do things so as not to make ourselves miserable beyond recovery. We settled upon me running for the TSMM fastpasses while the guys made their way slowly towards RnRC & ToT. How the heck I got roped into that crap deal I’ll never know. I think I got nominated because I’m the more driven Disney-crazed of the 2 of us plus I’m extreeeemely competitive when it comes to racing of any sort even when I don’t want to be. Tracey is prone to get PO’d at someone just trying to get up to the front (like me) and then let his mood ruin his whole morning. It made more sense for me to take on the chore of getting the stinkin’ FP’s. Ugh!

When the rope dropped I probably was like 10 rows of folks back from the front line. I remember my brother telling me his strategy for this very task which he found great success with. No, I’m not telling you all. What if everyone did that same thing? Then our strategy wouldn’t work so good in the future. Anywhoo, the rope dropped and my family disappeared behind me. I’m not in the shape I was a year ago by any means. I haven’t been for a good run in so long I couldn’t tell ya when I last had my business-sneakers on. I don’t know what I was thinking that morning lotioning up my feet & toes like I did. My feet were slip-sliding all over my dang flip-flops. I had my legs steady pumping, buddy. I focused so intently on the muscles pushing as hard as I could to make everything work as fast as possible without sliding out of a flop or, worse, tripping over myself. I heard many a comment as I zipped past people. My heart was pounding. My whole body was tense. As I rounded the corner at the arch I swear to you I thought I was going to throw up. I had a serious wave of nausea wash over me. I was keenly aware that this was my stomach in such knots from the stress of this single task that it was trying to shove breakfast back up & out. In that moment everything stood still and I recall having this little conversation with myself in my mind:

“What the h3ll are you doing?”

“Gotta get the FP’s.”

“But why all this stress? Why does it take all this?”

“I don’t want to stand in a long line to get the FP’s. Better me than Tracey. This is the way it’s done.”

“If you don’t ride TSMM it’s not the end of the world. Why put yourself thru this?”

“I don’t know.”

“I hate this.”

“Me, too.”

I never faltered or missed a beat. My legs steadily raced forward ahead of a whoooole lotta folks. I made it into a FP queue as #4 in line for the day. Whew! That nearly killed me. And I didn’t yack all over myself. The FP’s spit out with a return time of 10:00. Now I gotta find my guys.

I called Tracey as I continued back towards where they were. I think in the future I’d rather spend this time enjoying the scenery rather than racing the herd. Seriously. Maybe I’ll start planning 2 mornings at DHS: one to race and the other to enjoy.

DSCN0793.jpg

First up was this....

DSCN0795.jpg

I took these with my iPhone w/no flash. Woot!

DSCN0798.jpg

DSCN0799.jpg

The ride was walk-on...well, that’s figuratively speaking since we had to roll Chandler up close. We employed the same method for riding potentially bumpy stuff where his knee could get racked about. Again, it worked fine. With the rest of the park all at TSMM still we took a 2nd spin which was fully-awesome!

Next we trekked our booties on over to ToT. As we approached I looked up & could NOT believe me eyes! I almost died! I recognized him instantly! It was TJ!!!!! I ran up to him as if I knew him or something shouting his name all excited. You’d think I had just found a long-lost friend. I creeped myself out. LOL! No, I didn’t embrace the poor man even tho I really did want to. Oh and then he spoke and he had a really raspy voice and I could tell TJ wasn’t feeling so good. He was so amazingly gracious. Seriously, y’all. He was so kind and gracious, talked with me a few moments, let me gush to the boys about why TJ is so important, etc. He let me bask in the glow of the moment. I’ve looked for and asked about TJ for the last 5 trips. He explained to the boys that there were only 3 of the original Tower CMs still remaining and how to pick them out from all the others. So cool! Then of course I had to have a picture!

DSCN0801.jpg

Chandler really “got” the moment, too, and insisted he get out of his chair to take a pic also.

IMG_3094-1.jpg

We thanked TJ for his kindness and the pictures and all. Just prior to walking away I apologized for my freak-out moment in case I made him feel weirded-out. He said and I quote, “Oh not at all. I never get tired of it. Thank YOU.” This fellow exemplifies what it is to be a CM. These are the folks who are pixie dusted souls. I *heart* them like long-lost family members, too.

On our way thru the boiler room Brian got really apprehensive. It was strange. He’s been on this ride a dozen times or more and loves it. What was up with the nerves? I kept him close to me and steadily spoke quiet reassurances to him. We got seated in the front row (less distance for Chandler to hobble) and started our journey upward. At the first stop Brian says to me, “I gotta get off this thing, Mom. I’m not kidding. They have to stop it and let me off.” He was almost in a full panic. I pulled him close and kept talking quietly to him. When we went up again I talked about what was going on and what was next. I kept telling him he was just afraid of the surprise moment but I would tell him when so it would be okay. I told him he loved the ride and would want to do it again in a few minutes. We rolled into the drop shaft. His body was rock-hard with tension. I’m glad my timing wasn’t off when I guessed and said, “Here it is. It’s now.” And, thank God instead of a drop first we got an up. As soon as we shot up I looked over to see his face and I watched the terror switch to a gigantic smile. We were in motion. The doors parted in front of us, he looked out, and his hands went up in the air as he whooped-n-hollered with joy. I let go of him then and went along with the moment...all of us laughing and whooping and having the time of our lives. Man, that’s the stuff right there. That’s the moments where none of the difficulties or stresses life throws at ya can touch you. It’s all bliss. If only I could capture that somehow and keep it forever. I’d do just about anything, I tell ya.

So after ToT it was getting about time for us to use our TSMM fastpasses. On our way back towards Pixar Place we saw this fine gentleman. He offered up some of his specialty for the day, cheese & quackers:

DSCN0848.jpg

As hungry as we were, it was game-time baby! Oh yeah! Gotta get the game on! We continued on towards TSMM. On our way I was eyeballing this car trying to think of a way I could hop my big butt onto the hood and grab some quick Tawny Kitaen shots for h2obabie without getting myself thrown out of the park. Ultimately, I chickened out. Some things just aren’t worth the risk. Plus, the car is just so pretty. I wouldn’t wanna hurt it with my big ol’ behind. Seriously, I think if I *had* elected to hop up there I’d have made the poor car cry “uncle”.

DSCN0803.jpg

Nearby Brian spotted these USMC posters. He’s ready! Ooh Rah!!!!

DSCN0804.jpg

We walked thru the sweet shop on the corner. I was sooooo droolin’!

DSCN0805.jpg

DSCN0806.jpg

Same ol’ topiary. Same ol’ ooh’s & aah’s at these touches that make all the difference.

DSCN0807.jpg

Christmasy archway that I got to enjoy this time thru!

On to Pixar Place! Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t there used to be at least one if not two Luxo lamps poised on this sign? I’m not sure of the story, but wasn’t there some sort of lawsuit by the company that makes the Luxo lamps against Disney/Pixar for their use of the lamps?

DSCN0810.jpg

As we walked in thru the FP return queue I spotted this little gem. So true!

DSCN0811.jpg

I used to love my Viewmaster! Did you?!

DSCN0812.jpg

My aviation buff who is flying via Microsoft Flight Simulator X as I type this report:

DSCN0813.jpg

One of my Sweetness’s little aviation buffs, too. Brian is currently outside waging war in the neighborhood but he also likes to fly with his daddio’s flight sims.

DSCN0814.jpg

Juuuuust prior to handing them over I thought to take this pic. Tracey said, “Oh my Gaaaawd! You will take a pic of anything!” Why wouldn’t I? I worked hard for these babies! They’re practically worth their weight in gold!

DSCN0815.jpg

Not only did we use the FP queue, we had to pay a visit to the wheelchair accessible entrance. As always, I continue to be impressed by how accessible Disney makes things for those who need it. Chandler ended up with a shooter that didn’t have the pull-string to shoot. It had a button on top of it. Cool beans. I didn’t try too hard during the game. I was riding with Brian and didn’t want him to get all discouraged and upset. He was whippin‘ me all the way up to the last game where I took over the lead. In the end we agreed to combine our scores so it was a team effort. Yeah! So here it is: 257,900 points!

DSCN0816.jpg

When we got off the ride I paused to take this pic. So cool! I could hang out in this building soaking up the details all day!

DSCN0817.jpg

We still had some time to kill before our lunch ADR at Sci-Fi. We thought maybe we’d have time for the Backlot Tour. We stood in the queue area before the pre-show for what felt like forever even tho it was only 20 minutes.

DSCN0818.jpg

There was quite a crowd that accumulated for the show/tour. Seriously. I think they had a completely full show/tour (which we’ve neeeeever seen). By the time they started advancing the queues from the pre-pre-show area forward we had maybe 20 minutes until our ADR. We were so hungry it wasn’t worth being late and chancing a longer wait for lunch. Instead we opted out via an emergency exit.

Hey Hey! Night Owls UNITE! LOL! I'm waiting on laundry so I can finish packing us up to head home from my parents house tomorrow. Gotta get home for Santa's big visit.

That TSMM sprint totally blows. I hate that it has to be like that. Maybe from now on we'll not do the sprint, just do the standby, and move on. I'm really starting to feel that the stress isn't worth the single ride that a FP gets ya. I love the ride and all but that's just insane.

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

We called Aunt Laura again to see where she was and if she had time to join us before she hit the highway back to Pensacola. As it turned out, she was close. Yaaaayyy for Aunt Florida!!!! (<---that’s what the boys used to call her when they were little guys...LOL...which worked out considering that’s where she lives....)

On our way towards Sci-Fi Tracey & his eagle-eye spotted the Monsters Inc. meet-n-greet had like 2 people in line. Mike & Sulley weren’t there but upon checking it out found that their arrival was imminent. Awesome! I fully loooove the details even in queue areas for things as simplistic as character meets!

DSCN0819.jpg

We got to meet the monster celebs in the flesh/fur. Tooooooo cool!

Photo0050FourBySix.jpg

After we hob-nobbed with Mike & Sulley we made a beeline to Sci-Fi for lunch. We checked in and gabbed it up with Aunt Laura while we waited. Before long a really great carhop came along to escort us to our wheels. She was great and took time to explain to us that we were actually traveling back thru time as we walked down the corridor behind the drive-in. Yep. That rumbly in your tumbly? Yeah. That’s not hunger. Nope. That’s the effects of TIME TRAVEL. Wow! Remember this! It’s important stuff to know!

Our server was Carl. He rocked in a big way, too. Very entertaining, lots of fun, and top-notch service thru & thru. I had the burger (of course) and the peanut butter cake (sweet heaven). Amazing meal!

DSCN0820.jpg

DSCN0821.jpg

As we exited the building after lunch we spotted the cutest little Disney squirrel. He was going in & out of this rain gutter. I wish I could’ve caught a pic of him when just his bushy little tail was sticking out. Ugh! He was a cutie!

DSCN0822.jpg

Aunt Laura needed to get her ECV back to her resort and get on the road. She had a long drive ahead and still had to stop at another of my aunt’s houses to pick up her furry kiddo (a mini-schnauzer named Tucker). Kisses & hugs and Aunt Laura was gone. Buh-Byee, Aunt Florida! We love you!

We were tired & with full tummies really ready for a nap. The problem was that I really, really wanted to see the Beauty & the Beast show. We’d only seen it once way back in 2005 when we went with some friends. BatB is my favorite princess feature. I wanted to see it so bad. Soooo, my guys humored me & off we went to see the show. With Chandler in his chair we were up at the top of the theater. It was still a great vantage point. I took lots of pics...

DSCN0824.jpg

DSCN0827.jpg

DSCN0832.jpg

About halfway thru the show I noticed the man & woman duo standing in front of the audience down at the bottom right of the theater doing the dialogue in sign language. I was so fascinated by them. I started watching them more than I was watching the show. They sort of reenacted the scenes as they got into doing their signing. It was really awesome to watch.

Do you see them down on the bottom right in the blue shirts?

DSCN0833.jpg

Look at them go!

You can really see it in this scene. This is the stage followed by what the signing duo was doing!

And the finale number that makes all us girly-girls wanna squeal with joy over the brightly colored twirly dresses. Oh how the twirly dresses are a thing of dreams for me!!!!

After the show it was time for a rest. On our way back to POFQ while we were in the car I called to Walker Mobility to extend the wheelchair rental for the duration of our trip. We had hoped a few days off the knee would be all Chandler needed but there was still no way he’d be getting around without some wheels. Adding the rest of our trip was only another $36 more which wasn’t bad at all.

We slept for a solid 2 hours before my phone woke me up. Aunt Laura had called at 4:00 to tell me about her Pirates League photo being lost by the resort delivery system & how they had reprinted it. She wanted me to have the heads-up in case we were going to encounter any problems with ours. We hadn’t gone to the shop to pick up that package yet so I’m glad she said something.

We got ourselves dressed for the evening & headed back out to DHS. We got back to the park at about 5:20.

We went over to the animation building to see what characters were about. We met up with Lotso which, I admit, was sorta creepy. The queue area for the Lotso meet was killer. They made it look like you are inside Sunnyside Day Care!

Chandler smiled pretty for the Photopass pic but played along for my pic:

Brian & I stopped to give some lovin’ to Minnie & Pluto.

“Wheels” was too busy being Mr. Independent:

I really wanted to do the animation class but we just missed it. Dangit! Instead we ran outside to get something to much on. Tracey & I had some pretzels, Chandler had some nachos, and Brian had a popcorn. Mmmm...

I was determined to do the animation class so I dragged the guys back inside to give it another shot. We scooted in juuust in time and I had to catch up a little. We drew Pooh. Pooh isn’t my favorite but it was fun and super easy. I always was very into art and drawing when I was little. I grew to love painting more in my teen years. Pen & ink became my medium-of-choice in college. I do remember the days when my ultimate dream was to be an animator with the Disney company. Me and how many other millions of kids, huh? LOL! Brian has my love of art but, unfortunately, also has my lack of patience. He started out following the instruction but didn’t like how it was going so spent the rest of the class drawing what he wanted to draw. Chandler & Tracey didn’t even try to go with the class. They chose to watch. Shame. I think they both would’ve done just fine. My goal for our next trip is to do at least 2 of these classes and make them do it, too. LOL! I'll have to scan the drawings when I get home so I can show them to you. I really love that I have such a cool keepsake for the experience.

Next we opted to walk over towards the Streets of America to see what was shaking. We passed thru Pixar Place and Brian, who loves a good staring contest, tried his hand at a stare-down with this fella. Our staring champ failed to prevail this time but me-thinks his opponent may have had a bit of an advantage.

The lights hadn’t started yet but we found a good spot to sit to watch the lighting happen. With just a 3 or 4 minute wait the lights came on and it was straight-up bliss. We grabbed a photopass pic but it didn’t turn out that great. I think the Osborne Lights are impossible to capture in a picture. They’re something you just gotta experience in person or you’ll never get it.

I'm not sure if it was before or after the lights but there was no wait to get a quick pic with Lightning McQueen. It kinda stunk that he didn't move or make any sounds or anything at all like he did the first time we met him. Oh well...

We were so hungry now! Ugh! We checked in at Mama Melrose’s but they had zip for walk-ups which I expected but it never hurts to ask. We strolled into the Christmas shop nearby & I bought some ornaments. We opted to head over to Pizza Planet for a quick dinner. I know this place catches a lot of grief but we’re 2 for 2 here. The cheese pizza is yummy, hot, & doughy. I may be biased, tho, because the desserts are crispy treats on-a-stick and eeeeeeeveryone knows anything on-a-stick is better than not. LOL!

Now that our tummies were all full we figured the best thing to do would be shake & stir our guts. LOL! We hit up RnRC and ToT in that order both with virtually zero wait. Chandler did okay on both with his knee but it was decided that twice on either one might be pushing too far. Even tho the park wasn’t quite closed we unanimously decided that we’d rather go visit our little furry girl more than we wanted to do anything else.

Here's a quick photopass shot before we headed out for the evening. I think the only thing worse than a lot of the photopass pics we get these days are photopass pics taken at night.

Riley was as excited as always to see us appear at her villa. We took her outside to the dog park area which was empty. We all spread out far away from each other and got her to run from person to person to get some energy out. She’d run to one of the boys and get some lovin’. Then I’d call her and she’d come tearin’ across the park to me for some lovin’. Tracey would call her and the same thing would ensue. She’s such a sweet little thing. I swear she lives & breathes to make us happy. My little sweetheart. Here she is trying to get away from Brian to run to me:

It was pretty warm outside so it didn’t take long to get hot & need to cool down.

We went back into Riley’s villa and sat with her a bit. Again, she started off with the agitated anxious act but our ignoring routine settled her right down. She went from lap to lap a couple times for some cuddle time with each of us. It was so hard to walk away & leave her but we managed.

We ended up back at the resort at 9-ish. The boys were showered & crashed by 9:45. Man, being in ‘the zone’ while at WDW is the best. We had another absolutely fabulous day!

Okay gang! I probably won't get another update up until after Christmas. Tomorrow is a travel day. We gotta get ready for Santa tomorrow night. Saturday we'll be doing the Christmas thing at home. I'm thinking it'll be Sunday or Monday at the very earliest.

Y'all have a safe & happy Christmas!

I can't believe you are using Christmas as an excuse not to finish this report, shame on you! Ha, JK. I enjoyed seeing you all this week, and please have a safe trip home. Look forward to seeing you all again next weekend, and I think Christmas Day after Santa and Christmas dinner ( those huge Ribeyes), we all deserve another installment, whatcha think? Merry Christmas my precious little sis! :xmas:

Great trip report so far. But wait.....No Cabbage Patch Kid? I see Duffy is the replacement this year (my son got one when we were there in October and loved it too).

Nope, Ellie Boo stayed home this go around. It was such a whirlwind planning & trying to get ready for this adventure that I opted to leave her at home. She was afraid of freezing to death again, too. Lol! I don't care what the nay-sayers think, I really like Duffy...and currently have 3. Lol!

Thanks for tuning in. I know I'll be pretty busy tomorrow. The earliest I can do another installment would be tomorrow night but it'll likely be Sunday or Monday. :)
