Great Moments with Mr. Disney

Something I find that is missing from Disneyland that Walt Disney World has is One Man's Dream; a tribute to Walt Disney and different moments along the way.

With items like the map of Disneyland, the model for Sleeping Beauty's Castle and the original park bench all on location, the pre-show area is already set up to flow into the brand new show.

The new show will look at Walt's life from early age to the struggle of Oswald and rise of Mickey, up until the opening of Disneyland where the narration then ends with, "And the rest, is history", where guests then exit the show back onto Main Street USA to see the original Disney land and castle.

Bonus:

In the centre of the Esplanade, you can find a fountain of the Fab Five where guests can take their pictures with their favourite, lovable characters.
“Great Moments with Mr. Disney.” I was fully expecting this one. Surprisingly, you don’t mention what the name suggests – an animatronic Walt to replace Lincoln. Everything else, like the existing preshow exhibit space and the nicely-framed return to Main Street, is carefully presented. This is among the humbler proposals of this round, but maybe the most realistic. It’s also something I would very genuinely like to see in Disneyland.

Bonus: Hong Kong’s fountain has the Fab Five around a whale. Shanghai’s has them playing music. What are your Fab Five up to?

Carolwood Legacy Tunnel - Disneyland Railroad
20754492deed66b5746a11eacb925695--disney-college-disney-parks.jpg

The Grand Canyon Diorama and the subsequent Primeval World sections as the finale to the Disneyland Railroad had never seemed to mesh with either the Tomorrowland or a turn of the century midwestern Main Street themes, and therefore to tie those lands closer together with the founder of Disneyland, Walt Disney himself, those exhibits will be moved to a to be determined Disney museum, and the transition back to Main Street will involve a Carolwood Legacy Tunnel Exhibit.

Walt's love of trains dates back to the miniature Carolwood Pacific Railroad (originally planned to be a ride in Disneyland), which inspired him to create the Disneyland Railroad, and as you transition from the Tomorrowland Station, you enter a time traveling tunnel to the 1950s where you can view Walt Disney in animatronic form, riding the Carolwood Pacific alongside you.

The narrator of the railroad explains the history of the Carolwood Pacific, and its impact on Walt Disney and Disneyland, which continues as you ride through the rolling Holmby Hills in the early 1950s, then you transition (to the former Primeval World section) and now you're riding alongside another train en-route to Marceline, MO - where Walt Disney can be seen drawing sketches of Mickey Mouse, and thus you have completed your journey through time and arrive at the turn of the century Main Street that started it all.
You’re getting rid of the dinosaurs?!?!?!?! NOOOOOO!!!! :eek:o_O:arghh:

Okay…deep breath… :hungover:

Referencing the Carolwood Pacific Railroad is a smart call. It fits nicely as a Disneyland Railroad attraction, and your detailed descriptions are well put together. There are dull stretches of the railroad, like past Adventureland or the Autopia, where this would be a nice addition. But the dinosaurs?!?!?! (The randomness of dinos and the Grand Canyon after Tomorrowland is part of Disneyland’s charm, and shouldn’t be ironed away.)

Bonus? Nope. [EDIT: Okay, you got one.]

Mickey Through The Ages:

Set in Toon Town, this ride is an ode to the mouse who started it all, including a brief cameo by the Rabbit who came first. This ride takes you through the black and white era of cartoons and into the modern era, starting with Oswald handing over a sketchbook and pencil to Mickey with a speech bubble telling Mickey to take care of Walt (sense sound wasn't used yet), follows Mickey as he shows off a selection of his old cartoon selves almost photo album style, and ends with Mickey handing the same sketchbook over to modern Mickey.

Bonus: BRING BACK THE CALIFORNIA LETTERS YOU COWARDS
Whoa, in under the wire!!!

This is another cute Mickey/Oswald dark ride, with just a smidgen of direct Walt reference. The sketchbook is a nice through line which gives it dramatic unity. With so many other proposals taking clear inspiration from DHS’s Runaway Railway, is yours doing likewise? The descriptions give a good sense of the visual style, but I’d like to know about the ride vehicles.

Bonus: :hilarious: Love it!

Challenge 6 results!

It’s difficult to gauge exactly how Walt should be referenced within the parks. There’s a tendency to idolize him, and too much Walt makes the parks self-referential. It’s hard for me now to define what would work. Disneyland is an incredibly personal park for me – I was just there yesterday – and my favorite proposals all boasted a strange mix of humility and boldness which fit Walt himself.

@Pionmycake – Legacy of a Dream Parade
Walt’s life is a really solid backbone for a parade, a genre which often feels formless.

@Disneylover152 – Walt Disney Square
A big, grand idea elevated further by your personalized map.

CHALLENGE 7
JULY

In July we celebrate independence! With fireworks and picnics, we gather together for a festival of patriotism to honor our ancestors who overthrew the yoke of European tyranny and created a new nation based on democracy. You guessed right, everybody, on July 14th we celebrate –

BASTILLE DAY
24383168717_6181c5ff4d_o_d.jpg

The French Revolution took direct inspiration from the American Revolution and reimagined it for a European audience. Disneyland Paris did similarly with Disneyland. Tony Baxter’s brilliant creative team redid Disney in a beautiful new European style. Sadly, the park has rarely updated, and presently neighboring Walt Disney Studio Paris requires more attention. With no major E-ticket additions in Disneyland Paris’s near future, how can it remain vital?

-Challenge-
How about a show? Let’s give Disneyland Paris a “must see” live show. It can be theatrical, fireworks, a parade, whatever would be a major draw. And if you can, give it European influences.

-Bonus-
With one additional sentence…hmmm…How about let’s also give Paris an all-new character meet ‘n’ greet. Doing so will net you an automatic extra point!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Saturday, February 3rd, at midnight EST.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go create!

Join mickey mouse as he encounters many of France's mythological creatures, both big and small, when he tries to find the scepter of dragobert. Many France gods will also appear to either help guide mickey or harm mickey in his quest. Since some France myths can fit disney, expect the disney fairies and disney dragons to appear at some point in this exciting show.
