La Tanière du Dragon

The Dragon’s Lair at Disneyland Paris will be turned into a unique venue, styled akin to Poseidon’s fury at Islands of Adventure. Guests begin with a wizards apprentice, who unleashed a Dragon’s Curse on the castle, putting it under its domain. You soon enter the cavern, where, using water and light, the apprentice conquers the dragon and saves the kingdom, with the help of a younger audience member.

Bonus:
The Hyperspace Mountain queue will be rerouted to align for a new “Rebel Base” meet n’ greet, with Chewie, Luke, and Rey.
A guided walkthrough does indeed fit the challenge, and it’s an out-of-the-box choice for a “live show.” Great use of existing resources. The Dragon’s Lair is among Paris’s coolest features, and this is a rousing expansion on its premise. Other nice touches: Audience interaction, and keeping Disney characters far away from this original attraction.

Bonus: While I lament Discoveryland’s watering down via Star Wars, as long as it’s there might as well take advantage of it.

Défilé des Fleurs Dansantes

flowers.jpg

In Disneyland Paris' Fantasyland, don't forget to catch the Parade of the Dancing Flowers (Défilé des Fleurs Dansantes); watch as floats, characters, and dancing flowers parade across Fantasyland. During these times, there's also special foods and drinks for this parade, such as Dancing Daisies (Marguerites dansantes) drink; these delicacies can be found at Au Chalet de la Marionnette, Pizzeria Bella Notte, and Toad Hall Restaurant. With so many spectacular dances, floats, characters, and even its own music score, this parade gives Disneyland Paris an extra "oomph".

Bonus: Visit Snow White in a new area of the Princess Pavilion in Fantasyland.
Oh boy, this is one I can easily picture in my head. Beautiful stylized flower floats in an ornate storybook style to complement the most beautiful Fantasyland! I can’t recall if a parade could work there logistically, so let’s assume it can. Incorporating special food and drinks shows nice attention to detail. Is this a daytime or nighttime parade? It would be gorgeous in either form; at night especially it would be a true knockout, full of Paint the Night style bioluminescence.

Bonus: Well of course!

One For All and All For One stage show

Coming straight to Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland Paris it's *dun DAH DAH dunnnnn* Mickey Donald and Goofy in an all new action packed 18 minute stage show based off the beloved movie, The Three Musketeers. This show will have all the romance and drama of the animated classic, in a shortened form with costumed characters in front of the Castle every hour from park open till two pm. Music, sword fighting, princess rescuing, oh my, watch Mickey Donald and Goofy fight off the evil Pete rescue Minnie and Daisy and live happily ever after *queue fireworks*

Bonus: You can now meet the Musketeer clad trio on Main Street in a brand new meet and greet.
This is among the best fusions of “European” and “Disney.” Ties in very nicely with the castle backdrop, and could become one of those quintessentially Disneyland Paris images. Kudos too on picking a fairly forgotten Mickey cartoon. There’s not really much more to say, this is just a very solid proposal.

Bonus: Musketeer Donald’s eyes are blue, which is really freaking me out. :jawdrop:

To Tomorrow

cropped-bckgrnd-1024x449.jpg

In this new show, audiences watch a man (named Tom) discover the parallel universe from the movie Tomorrowland via discovering a pin on the streets of London.

As he arrives in the new world, he and the new citizens of Tomorrowland sing about progress, discovery, and innovation, which culminates with a new take on the classic song There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.

The show's story involves the man learning about different scientific advances and how great science is for everyone in the world.

BONUS: Outside, guests can take pictures with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in space outfits.
You know, put this show in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland and I’d be totally on board with it. I’m kind of struggling envisioning it in the Vernian, steampunk Discoveryland, however. Tomorrowland (a future cult classic) is largely about Walt’s mid-century futurism. There was a bit, if I remember right, about Plus Ultra’s original members building the Eiffel Tower around a rocket (a very “Discoveryland” image). If you’d explicitly tied the show in with that imagery…

Bonus: Mickey in a space outfit doesn’t seem too steampunk either.

Tour de L'astronome: Les Histoires du Temps
Videopolis004.jpg

English Translation
Sculpting its way into the Videopolis Theater in Discoveryland will be a thirty-five minute live-action theatre show based on a brilliant yet eccentric late-19th century astronomer Dr. Absolon Durand, who through his long range telescope, has discovered a parallel 5 dimensional universe where he and the audience can travel not only in 4 dimensional physical space, but through time as well.

In this parallel universe Dr. Durand's goal is to educate the minds of visitors to Discoveryland on the true history of human kind, and as his teleportation devices whisks the audience away to the parallel universe, we see a world not unlike our own, yet every move Dr. Durand makes, and every person he interacts with, causes a ripple effect through time and space in the present day

The show features interactions with Aristotle, Julius Caesar, Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Napoleon, and finally Dr. Durand's idol, Jules Verne, who tells Dr. Durand that the past is the past, and we only should learn from it, and not try to change it, leaving the audience on the note of which that is what fantasy novels are for.

Way to rehabilitate Discoveryland! The Videopolis has become a catchall venue for unrelated popular Disney IPs. Timekeeper wasn’t kept. You’ve effectively remade the latter as a Videopolis stage show (unofficially). I really like the moral of learning from the past without trying to change it, which pretty much summarizes Discoveryland. The one fear, this being a time travel story, is how confusing the ripples in time might potentially become.

Bonus: I had a hunch Quasimodo would show up. ;)

Similar in design to the Just Add Water show at Disney's California Adventure, watch the fountains of Sleeping Beauty castle as they tell the stories of Fantasyland during eau magique. This is a short show that is preformed several times daily, which coordinates fountains to music as they dance and turn into different shapes of Disney Characters. These shows are set at random, but can include music from Sleeping Beauty,Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Pinocchio.

day-end-water-show.jpg

Bonus: There is a surprise meet and greet every so often between the Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Peter Pan segments. This includes the Good Fairies, Dopey, and Smee!
Oh hey, it’s the Efteling fountains!

This is a totally charming concept. It’s the sort of thing which is best kept minimalist and simple – fountains, music, that’s all we need. Randomized showtimes help keep it one of those oh-so-Disney “discovered” attractions which can make a day very special. So while this doesn’t have the challenge’s E-ticket factor, it would still be a really loveable addition to Disney’s loveliest park.

Bonus: I love how you’ve kept the surprise factor for this too.

Challenge 7 results

There were some really beautiful concepts put forth in this round. Basically everyone did something which fits Disneyland Paris specifically (rather than just doing one-size-fits-all Disney shows), and for that I applaud everybody. Also, that made picking the medalists very difficult. VERY difficult. So there are several ties, and the gap between bronze and gold is exceedingly small. Well done!

@TwilightZone – Mickey’s Mystical Journey
@spacemt354 – Tour de L’astronome
Strong French influence in each. As stated, very close to gold.

Silver Medal (2 points)

@DisneyForever – Defiles des Fleurs Dansantes
@pixie_princess – One for All and All for One
Both are just exceedingly solid proposals, and decidedly Parisian.

Gold Medal (3 points)

@Pionmycake – A Trip to the Moon: From Screen to the Stage
Well earned! Adding to the already-masterful Main Street/Discoveryland transition is what took the cake.

CHALLENGE 8
AUGUST

August has no good holidays. What is there to work with?! National Mustard Day? Underwear Day? Frankenstein Day? Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day? (Yes, these are real.) But in the end I just gave up and settled on –

LAZY DAY
(also real)
24383167377_5c1397d173_o_d.jpg

In the festive spirit of laziness, let’s not even bother leaving Paris. Instead, let’s simply lurch on over to Walt Disney Studios Park, easily the laziest park Imagineering ever tossed together. It’s basically a parking lot. But it is improving, particularly with the new(ish) Ratatouille mini-land which is, shockingly, the only fully-themed setting in the park. If only WDSP could have more mini-lands like that…

-Challenge-
Create a new mini-land like that. With one E-ticket, one shop and one restaurant, create for WDSP a “must visit” fully-themed addition. The one caveat: You cannot use any properties which presently have a ride in any Disney park.

-Bonus-
With one additional sentence, do like with Ratatouille and clone parts of your mini-land over to Epcot. Doing so will net you an automatic extra point!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Wednesday, February 7th, at midnight EST.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?
Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go create!

Imagination Land (see because inside out doesn't presently have an attraction, you gotta wait for summer for that
S3AfN6G4.png
)
Inside-Out-80.png

The e-ticket of imagination land will be the train of thought, which will take guests through a high speed chase in different parts of Riley's brain. The shop of imagination land being inside preschool world, which well sell both generic inside out merch, preschool toys and school supplies. The restaurant being an outdoor eatery located in french fry island, which will have different foods that go well with french fries and every type of french fry and french fry combo to ever exist.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bonus:
As much as I hate doing this, all parts of Imagination Land will be put in the imagination pavillion. The train of thought being the main ride, preschool world replacing the gift shop, and french fry island taking over the dvc lounge. However to please figment fans, he will live in the magic eye theater.

La Tierra de los Muertos
The Land of the Dead

Coco-tram.jpg

Guests enter a small building and proceed to cross the tram tracks via the golden petal bridge (which contrary to the name, is actually a tunnel) to enter the Land of the Dead's transportation station, with a shop to both sides of the enterance.

The station features authentic Mexican music, as well as the iconic music from the film playing live (A-Ticket), a restaurant with giant windows that show views of the Land of the Dead (they work similarly to those to be in the space themed restaurant for EPCOT, with sCrEeNs), and a spinner where guests ride creatures resembling Pepita.

The E-Ticket tells the story of Hector being late to his live performance for the day of the dead, so he relies on a varied forms of public transportation to get us there (the ride vehicles seemingly shift from boats to Peter Plan's flight style vehicles, to speedy cars to accomplish this effect).

BONUS: The Mexican Pavilion at EPCOT gets a major update, beginning with the reworking of the ride (though in the update, the E-Ticket starts with the boat vehicle, rather than the skyliner/tram).

Paradise Falls
Screen Shot 2018-02-07 at 10.26.33 PM.png

Coming to Walt Disney Studios Park, a new mini-land “Paradise Falls”, bringing this mystic land and the story of UP to life with 2 attractions, one restaurant, meet and greets, and one gift shop (The Jungle Mercantile).

In “Paradise Falls”, you can journey through a Wilderness Explorer Camp (similar to Camp Discovery in Shanghai) that winds through the treetops and caves of Paradise Falls, and afterwards you can stop by Carl Fredricksen's house (“Ellie’s Home Cooked Meals”) for some tasty-home cooked meals, with waitresses and entertainment similar to what you get at the Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios.

The big E-Ticket that will make everyone flock to this new area of the park would be “Paradise Falls Flyaway Railway”, which will be a roller coaster that begins as a standard coaster going around Paradise Falls, before you “flying up” to a suspended track through a dark ride section, making it a family adventure for all ages.

Bonus: A new “Venezuela” inspired pavilion will be coming to the World Showcase, recreating Paradise Falls in Epcot, but some Venezuelan Culture will be added.

Castle Isle: Brave
1517954551288.png

Going in the area between Toy Story Playland, and the Studio Tram Tour, Castle Isle: Brave will be the new Pixar mini-land added to the Toon Studio area.

The mini-land will feature a version of the castle found from the film where inside the castle will be the E-ticket ride and a restaurant; themed with a Scottish heritage of food.

This attraction will use similar technology found in Toy Story Mania (due to that attraction not being in WDSP) where instead of firing different arcade items, arrows will be shot as you train with Merida.

Bonus:
A version of this attraction will be added to the UK pavilion at EPCOT due to Scotland being a part of the UK.
