Hiros Rocket Adventure!!!

OSP #5 San Fransokyo .png

A new E - Ticket indoor coaster coming to Tokyo Disneyland, this high tech, indoor suspended coaster will take you soaring over San Fransokyo as you help Hiro test Baymax's mental health functions. The ride cue takes you through the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology (fondly referred to as the nerd school by Hiro) with interactive elements as you pass everyones workstations and ends once you get scanned by an animatronic Baymax who recommends a flight over the city to increase happiness. As you make your way to the roof of the school, you load into the newly designed rockets Hiro build and soar over many landmarks in San Fransokyo; from the Golden Gate Bridge, to Fred's Mansion, to Aunt Cass's bakery, and back to the nerd school where you get out, get re-scanned by Baymax, and thanked for your help by Hiro, who then sends you out for treats at the bakery.

Bonus: When you exit the ride into the bakery, Aunt Cass will have specially made mochi ice cream in vanilla bean (for Baymax), Matcha and Wasabi (for Wasabi), honey lemon (take a guess who its based on), and bubblegum (for Go Go Tomago).

Alien Busters
1bcdd9d864a664463c749225eba28e67.jpg

replacing monster's inc.: ride and go seek, alien busters takes place in sci-fi city, a bustling alien city. However, like all big cities it's full of pests, so you are an alien exterminator buster (aliens stopped exterminating the pests a long time ago), and as such, it's your job to zap the pests with your lazer flashlights and teleport them to headquarters of EXtermination Services (EX-S). The grand finale being the biggest pest of them all, the alien encounter alien! (If you can't already tell, this is a huge love letter to 90s tomorrowland)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BONUS:
the new specialty dessert would be the EX-Sundae, topped with nuts (representing the alien encounter alien's love of crunching things with his teeth), berries (representing the more harmless pests at the begging), bananas (representing the weirder pests), and baked apple slices (representing the larger pests) which can be picked up at plazma ray's diner.
Firstly, I love the picture. Redoing Tokyo’s Tomorrowland to the 90s would be an upgrade, because they’re still stuck in the 80s. Your choice of an original, non-IP concept is bold and welcome. I can’t help but think of Universal’s Men in Black, which is fun and goofy and also pretty far from the cute, kawaii tone of Tokyo. Replacing Ride and Go Seek is a mistake, as that’s the park’s 2nd best, 2nd most popular ride (after Hunny Hunt).

Bonus: What an elaborate, thought-out dessert! Sounds delicious! :hungry:

Howl's Magical Quest

1ca38efca364684328762a2db9f2ba4f--howls-moving-castle-hayao-miyazaki.jpg

Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures in the US and produced by Studio Ghibli, Howl's Moving Castle is a Hayao Miyazaki classic film that will be inspired as a dark ride attraction in Tokyo Disneyland's northern most part of Fantasyland in 2022, as part of a continued collaboration between the two studios.

Howl's Magical Quest will be an augmented reality dark ride that allows guests to travel through vignette-like scenes from the film, along with the characters of Sophie, Markl, Howl the powerful wizard, and more on a visually stunning 4D experience. Guests will be able to manipulate their environments, interact with the animatronic characters themselves (in Japanese) as well as enter a branch of Fantasyland dark rides that have not been explored yet in Disney Parks, and what better place to have the original Studio Ghibli dark ride than Tokyo Disneyland opening on Golden Week.

Bonus

動くケーキ "Moving Cake" Ugoku kēki - is a mishapen chocolate pastry item with a creamy rich vanilla filling which resembles Howl's Castle from the film that guests can purchase at the end of the attraction in a small quick service venue.
To you and @DisneyForever both, regarding Studio Ghibli: I love them, the Japanese love them, their works would fit Tokyo Disneyland nicely (especially in an expansion pad), buuuut…apparently Miyazaki is dead set against seeing his creations in a theme park. He thinks it would cheapen them. So that’s a slight demerit for realism.

Despite that, Howl’s Moving Castle is a great choice. Better still is your use of augmented reality and guests’ interactions with animatronics and settings. That’s precisely the forward-thinking style Tokyo does best!

Bonus: The only improvement would be if Calcifer bakes these.

Dumbo’s Big Top Adventure

(ダンボのビッグトップアドベンチャー)

sdBF9VmX1zzwo9_jzQ_y-rdfJXCoDwc9RgU7HUBDG5j-a8TPseoaA-3auKDHzRWAYMOvNZNFFZrbXwfWyyXfZctu5hetBldlT7ZYuVhq0MqAVZNlieaLDSteTc6hFpD1W7dXS5ZH

A new dark ride is coming to Tokyo Disneyland’s Fantasyland, replacing Snow White's Scary Adventures titled Dumbo’s Big Top Adventure, which will joining the classic Dumbo The Flying Elephant for a swinging ride through the Big Top.

Using the rumored Spider Man ride technology (http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2017/0282085.html), guests will join Dumbo as he flies through the circus fairgrounds, encountering places and things like the Hall of Mirrors, magicians, clowns, trapeze artists and other classic circus elements.

Using state of the art effects like high quality screens, water misters, other 4-D effects, combined with elements of a classic Disney dark ride like animatronics and real life, non-screen, effects, this ride is sure to become an instant hit with guests of all ages.

Bonus: A new Dumbo inspired cupcake will be added to a Big Top Treats snack cart outside of this attraction, where the cupcake is shaped like a circus tent with Dumbo flying above it.
Dumbo is a neat choice for a dark ride, and if Disneyland can have the Tea Party plus an Alice dark ride, then there’s no reason Tokyo can’t have this alongside their Dumbo spinner. Good realistic ride vehicle choice (slight height requirement issue perhaps). Great use of assorted effects! You’ve used every trick in the book, which is just what Hunny Hunt does, and that’s largely what makes Hunny Hunt so exceptional.

Bonus: Very cute, very Tokyo.

Stitch's Aloha-venture
View attachment 258620
Taking over Stitch's Enchanted Tiki Room and one of the theaters from Country Bear Jamboree comes a new, state of the art adventure featuring Stitch and his friends, but don't worry, everything from both old attractions will find a new home. Guests board a spaceship that seems to levitate by balancing on a mildly articulated arm, and watch as Stitch causes mischief and mayhem throughout Lilo's hometown, as guests are recruited to peacefully stop stitch with Jumba and Pleakely. Guests will find themselves in vignettes a series of vignettes that bring this world to life, featuring:
  • Stitch causing a fuss in a forest full of (re-used tiki) birds
  • Havoc at the Hula
  • Stitch tries fire twirling
  • Surfing
  • Stitch goes missing
  • Stitch saves Lilo
Stitch is ridiculously popular in Japan (he’s in seemingly every show, parade, and two different attractions already). This proposal is the likeliest to be greenlit. Giving Adventureland a big draw will help pull crowds from the busier Fantasyland/Tomorrowland side. Good reuse of Tiki Room assets; you’ve justified replacing it. The articulated arm ride vehicles are a standout. Very good work!

I wish you’d done a bonus dessert. Something like sweet steamed buns shaped like Stitch would be huge in Japan. Heck, they already serve these mochi based on Lilo’s creepy doll:

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Situated in the back of the park, next to the Haunted Mansion, stands an eerily similar building. Inside, Brom Bones challenges us to witness for ourselves the ghostly tales of Sleepy Hollow. We saddle up on our horses (TRON-style vehicles) in a frenzied race against the Headless Horseman.

Bonus: Jack'o'Lantern cupcakes at the all new Sleepy Hollow Refreshments located right next door to our newest attraction.
Welcome and congrats on a strong first proposal.

Haunted Mansion in Tokyo is strangely located in Fantasyland directly across from Dumbo. Sleepy Hollow nearby could make it a bit less of a sore thumb. You don’t say exactly where your ride could go, but for a newcomer that’s fine. Putting Flight of Passage vehicles in a dark ride, once suggested, that seems really obvious, perfect for simulating horses, and now I really want to see that happen.

Bonus: Good snack. I’ll add pumpkin-flavored popcorn, because flavored popcorn is a big Tokyo thing.

WALLE-E’S EXTRODINAR-E ADVENTURE

j9sl8nqyesp0lumndo3x

In this attraction, guests board their vehicles which use amazing hovercraft technology and are designed similar to the iconic chairs from Wall-E.

Upon, leaving the Axiom, we (mankind) have tasked ourselves with cleaning up Earth and atoning for the awful things we did to our beloved planet by zapping the trash boxes (because guests can no longer shoot at the Buzz Lightyear ride, which has been removed to give WALL-E a new home).

The ride has a Horizons feel, as it showcases a possible - greener - future filled with great technology and messages about renewable energy.

Bonus: Walle and Eve shaped Cookies!
Whoa, hovercraft technology?!?! Okay, WALL-E is a good Tomorrowland choice, zapping trash away is a good interactive element, I’m fine with nixing Buzz…but I really, really wanna here more about those hovercraft! I’m picturing something like the image below, and thinking Disney might not be quite there yet:

Spirited Away: Adventures of Chihiro

1501473118763_Spirited%20Away.png

In Fantasyland, a new abandoned theme park has popped up, inside of a dark ride building; as well as Chihiro and the gang from the hit anime, Spirited Away. This technological trackless dark ride spins, dances, "flies", and even changes colors from red to "invisible" white; very life-like animatronics fill the dark ride as you try to save Chihiro's parents from the other dimension. The main sho-stopper is the grand color finale, where your vehicle turns from red to white and red again as well as the walls changing and vehicles spinning. (It might be obvious that I haven't actually seen the movie, just read summaries and the synopsis... feel free to take away points for that )

Bonus: In a new mini-cafe, guests can wait in line to get a Pretty Sweet Piggy Popsicle, which is shaped like a pig, and can have different facial expressions if requested.
No points off since you haven’t seen Spirited Away yet, but do yourself a big personal favor and see it ASAP! It’s really an exceptional film.

Same Studio Ghibli note applies here as with @spacemt354. For Spirited Away, trackless tech is a very intuitive fit, and I can see it being somewhat like a bathhouse version of Mystic Manor. Having all the ride vehicles change colors…First, I’d like to know a little more of how that’s possible. Second, yeah, what insane Spirited Away synopsis talks about changing colors?! Go see that movie!

Bonus: Cute snack…we’re eating the main character’s parents.

Tron: Light Cycle Escape

Replacing the Showbase Theatre in Tomorrowland is a brand new D-ticket attraction themed around Tron. Using the vehicles seen on the Tron Coaster, this new attraction will combine state-of-the-art vehicles with the classic Dark Ride feel to give guests the true light cycle riding experience. Guests will team up with Sam Flynn as they try to escape the light cycle arena while fighting against Clu.

Bonus:

Nearby guests will find cookies that are designed to look like the identity discs found in Tron: Legacy.
TRON lightcycles as dark ride vehicles sounds a lot like @eye4themeparks’ Flight of Passage horses. Could be very neat. Amongst Tokyo’s Tomorrowland locations, the Showbase Theater is probably the best choice for replacement. Otherwise…I dunno, there’s probably more you could’ve done with this.

-Figment's Fantastic Flight into Imagination!-

In the back of Fantasyland between Haunted Mansion and the (reduced in size) Wonderland Maze, a more fantastical, colorful (slightly steam punky) version of the iconic glass pyramid of the Imagination Institute houses this new E-ticket ride starring Figment and The Dreamfinder (Based mostly on their comic book versions).

Guests are invited on a tour through the colorful Realm of Imagination (Think of what you would get if Sam Raimi and Ghibli made a world together) with The Dreamfinder and Figment as your guides, but watch out for the giant Dragon of Dreams that attacks guests and our heroes!

The ride system is a large, high capacity suspended cab that slowly moves along the track and is capable of bouncing/shaking (The ride system from the late, great Kongfrontation) to simulate being attacked or grabbed by the Dragon of Dreams, and a mix of large animatronics, practical effects, and large scale projector screens create the environments and brings them to life.

-BONUS-

Near the exit is a cart that will be selling Dream Cloud Cotton Candy which is cotton candy sculpted into fantastic shapes (such as Figment, the Dragon of Dreams, and more!) using a verity of colors and flavors mixed together (inspired by the Cotton Candy Sculptures from the Totti Candy Factory in Tokyo).
“If Sam Raimi and Studio Ghibli made a world together.” Sold! A wonderfully imaginative Imagination reimagining. Figment would do really well in Japan. Flying dark ride. Unique-yet-feasible ride system. Bold combination of effects. A really big dragon AA. This ride has everything! (Put it in your Cloud Circus.)

Really stupid nitpick: That’s not an Alice maze, that’s an Alice restaurant. Personally, I think alongside/behind/nearby Small World (if spatially possible) would be a better location.

Bonus: Everybody check out his link! o_O We have our winning dessert!

What about pie on top of cake instead? (Nice new avatar.)

This is a fun Big Hero 6 attraction, and a fully fleshed-out ride storyline. A cool choice too, as Disney’s most Japanese film. The main issue is simply that it’s a roller coaster in another dark ride round. I have no doubt you’d be able to do Baymax justice in the dark ride format with a little more time.

Bonus: Will the mochi have Baymax’s face on it?! [smile] Adorable!

Challenge 5 results!

With every round I’m continually impressed with the creativity on display. Lots of these proposals really get what makes a Tokyo Disneyland dark ride unique. The best proposals were almost visceral in evoking their rides, which was just wonderful.

CHALLENGE 6
JUNE

On June 17th, 2018, we will celebrate the men who brought us into this world, who created us and raised us. That Sunday, we will celebrate –

FATHER’S DAY
25378935218_97cbea5bf5_o_d.jpg

Similarly, let’s celebrate Walt himself, the father of all things Disney! To do so, let’s travel to Walt’s original Disneyland in Anaheim, California, where you can still find Walt’s personal touch in nooks and crannies throughout the park. It is this connection to Walt which many fans cite when praising Disneyland.

-Challenge-
Create any sort of addition for Disneyland which is in some way based on Walt Disney. Do him proud!

-Bonus-
With one additional sentence, create a centerpiece statue for the Esplanade in between Disneyland and DCA, a photo-op like DisneySea’s AquaSphere or Hong Kong’s Mickey & the Whale fountain. Doing so will net you an automatic extra point!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Monday, January 29th, at midnight EST.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go create!

The adventures of oswald the lucky rabbit
Oswald-the-Lucky-Rabbit-.jpg

This new dark ride in Toontown will be all about how oswald disappeared from Disney and had to find his way back home. You follow oswald after he falls into a hole where he then encounters many of the disney parks original IP characters and locations (that aren't already at disneyland), the cop house, the arts world, the ship of miss adventure, and finally a chase through the center of the Earth. He then finally pops up back at the disneyland where he meets mickey and sees the walt statue. Oswald becomes sad, but mickey cheers him up by taking him to California Adventure, where he can be the star!
(Ok this was really stretching what counted as "Walt" but whatever.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bonus: Since there is no Roy statues that I know of at Disneyland, have a statue of Roy with Oswald since they're the underlooked brother to the big star, but are still just as loved.

Replacing the Fantasyland Theater is a new adventure featuring Walt Disney and his animation legacy, while also functioning as a new way to enter toon town. Guests will enter an artist’s abode that matches the Fantasyland scenery, where they will board their trackless carts, before driving off to crowd around an AA Walt drawing Mickeymouse on a wall, which then comes to life via projection mapping, and opens the Toon World using an effect similar to the mirror in Enchanted Tales with Belle. You wander through some of the most iconic cartoon movies and short films, featuring Mickey Mouse, Oswald, Roger Rabbit, Etc. Before being dropped of in Toontown.

Bonus:
The current compass will be raised into fountain form, with sorcerer Mickey standing on a burst of water, while spinning and conducting the water to match the background music.
