Epcot Health and Wellness Festival
ferstival.jpg

With the recent tally that Epcot now has 266/365 days of 'festivals' at the park, the one time of year that has been immune to festivals has been the summer, yet next year a brand new summer festival will open as the Epcot Health and Wellness Festival will be arriving from June 21st - August 10th as a celebration of healthy living.

Bringing the Wonders of Life back to its original intention - the Life/Health Pavilion will be one of the star attractions of the festival, with accessible athletic trainers from Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, as well as from the Orlando Magic NBA Basketball team, working through exercise routines and techniques for your benefit.

But no festival at Epcot would be worth it to Disney executives without the potential for a profit via food/beverages, which is facilitated by Whole Foods and other organic food companies sponsoring expos of culinary samplers from both domestic regions (located in the former Odyssey Restaurant), as well as several international destinations (located in World Showcase) where guests can taste the healthy side of food and wine from around the world.

--Bonus--
In the Fall of 2018, a group of friends leaving Epcot via the International Gateway after an evening splurging on libations, discover that one of the group members is missing their MagicBand, yet rather than take the standard form of walking transportation to re-enter Epcot, have the intuition that it would be faster to swim into the park, and thus a new form of transportation is born.
Probably the most well-written proposal, with the highest detail-per-sentence. You’ve covered some Epcot basics, like the food ($), while also tying everything to wellness very, um, well. Extra grace notes, like highlighting how you’re filling a festival-free summer stretch, make this proposal stand apart.

Bonus: Something tells me your “bonus” is autobiographical. ;) (+1)

Coming in the Summer at Epcot, the "Festival of Discovery" will arrive, about discovering everything from science, food, and other experience that you would normally not experience!

The Festival of Discovery encourages kids to discover experiences like discovering secrets of an Egyptian Pyramid, discovering new unique foods, discovering what you can make with your own hands, discovering how high you can climb on giant nets, and even discovering science like air pressure.

This new festival is sure to be a blast for all ages and should hold everyone over until the overhaul is completed.

Bonus: A new transportation system connecting Disney's Animal Kingdom to Disney's Coronado Springs to the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot will debut, giving an easy way for guests to get from Disney's Animal Kingdom to Epcot.
One of Epcot’s common critiques is that it’s a bit boring for children. Booze-filled cultural fiestas don’t help. Your festival, so interactive it’s basically a playground, rectifies that. Kids would love this! As with many players, you’ve successfully tied the concept to Epcot’s many themes (in both FW & WS). Also, your image is top notch!

Bonus: Another transportation system from Epcot to Animal Kingdom, with the Coronado Springs layover adding substantial value for hotel guests. (+1)

Challenge 1 results!

There were an absolute ton of quality proposals, making it really hard trying to select and rank the best.

Again, with my limited Epcot knowledge I’ve made my selections based on which festivals simply sounded the most immediately appealing to me as a novice guest. Which events would get my into Epcot’s gates for the first time?

A great idea alone is worth a lot in One Sentence Competition. So is a well-presented proposal. Our top finishers boasted a combo of each, and in such a crowded field many medal-worthy entries are sadly going unrewarded.

(As for scores, every proposal gets an automatic 1 point, as does every bonus. Medalists get extra points.)

Onto the results!

CHALLENGE 2
FEBRUARY

The New Year continues into February. That’s because we’ve now switched over to China’s lunar calendar, meaning that the next “jolly holiday” in our Disney Year is an incredible festival of happiness, fortune and longevity known as –

CHINESE NEW YEAR
135975874_14841883894051n.jpg

Happy Year of the Dog! We celebrate Chinese New Year at a new park, Shanghai Disneyland. Here Imagineers rewrote the rules, creating landmark E-tickets inspired by Castle Park favorites. “Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle of the Sunken Treasure” is a brilliant high-tech update on the classic “Pirates of the Caribbean.” “TRON – Light Cycle Power Run” nicely takes the place of “Space Mountain.”

-Challenge-
Propose for Shanghai another upgraded E-ticket. Pick any of the Disneyland/Magic Kingdom classics which don’t yet have a counterpart in Shanghai, and create one. Make it as amazingly original as Shanghai's TRON or POTC. Be as high-tech, modern and unique as possible!

-Bonus-
With one additional sentence, describe how your creation could be cloned into another Disney park like they’re doing now with Shanghai’s TRON in Magic Kingdom. Doing so will net you an automatic extra point!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Wednesday, January 10th, at midnight EST. That's a quicker deadline than before - the game is speeding up!!! - so take note. :geek:

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go create! :joyfull:

Can we replace an original ride with our new ride at the Magic Kingdom? For example, bring Pirates to Shanghai and overlay the one in Florida (yes, I know there's a Pirates in Shanghai)? This is asking about the bonus.

The Bonus is trying to be a "uniqueness test." Like how in Shanghai TRON can take the place of Space Mountain, but it can also go into Magic Kingdom alongside Space Mountain without any redundancy.

Of course it doesn't have to go back into Magic Kingdom. If you propose an upgraded Splash Mountain which fits DisneySea (random example), do that. The Bonus is a free extra point, so go as Blue Sky as possible! :eek:o_O:p

Treasure Mountain
treasure-chest.jpg

This is Shanghai's equivalent to Splash Mountain located in Adventure Isle. The plot follows the pirate equivalent of brer rabbit, brer fox and brer bear on a battle for lost treasure. This attraction will be later cloned to disney's california adventure to replace grizzly river run in a retheme of grizzly peak into a more mythical adventure themed land as part of disney's plan to make dca more disney.

it's a small world

it_s_a_small_world___tokyo_disneyland_by_rubyreminiscence-d6p0r07.jpg

Disneyland Shanghai's it's a small world is situated next to Pooh's Teapots, and features a different take on the original attraction. In this version, there are only a few dolls, and the rest are either holograms or projections, which have different recordings, so each ride is a different experience. This version also doesn't use boats, it uses a trackless ride system, so each ride spins and swerves to the iconic song of "it's a small world".

Bonus: This version is going to replace the current one at Disneyland Park, making it a first (excusing the saucers of the 50s/60s) at Disneyland Park.

Shanghai Disneyland Transrapid
上海迪斯尼乐园 磁悬浮列车

23232.JPG

As Shanghai Disneyland 上海迪斯尼乐园 continues to expand into the future - due to its expansive land area, it needs a form of transportation from the Toy Story Hotel 玩具故事酒店, the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel 上海迪斯尼乐园酒店, as well as to and from the parks, which will be accomplished by the Shanghai Disneyland Transrapid 上海迪斯尼乐园 磁悬浮列车.

This rapid transit system will be an upgraded version of the Disneyland Monorail; an elevated train with comfortable seating and spacious luxury for travel throughout the resort, running at a top speed of 65 km/hour on a long straightaway, providing efficient and quick transit.

Slated to open in 2021, the Shanghai Disneyland Transrapid 上海迪斯尼乐园 磁悬浮列车 will consist of 3 station stops, at the front of Shanghai Disneyland 上海迪斯尼乐园 and at the entrance to Disneytown 迪斯尼镇, followed by the Toy Story Hotel玩具故事酒店 , and finally to the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel 上海迪斯尼乐园酒店, with expansion space throughout for more parks and resorts in the future.

Bonus
This Maglev transrapid system style could be installed at Hong Kong Disneyland and/or Disneyland Paris if those resorts plan to expand.

Matterhorn Bobsleds
1515312861248.png

To me, the one thing Shanghai Disney is missing is a mountain attraction as a Disney park doesn't feel the same without it. To fix that, I propose adding an updated Matterhorn Bobsleds into Fantasyland to the right of where Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is. Updates will include a smoother track, state-of-the-art audio animatronics, and new snow effects throughout to make it appear as if it were snowing while riding.

BONUS: A replica of this updated version will be added to EPCOT to revitalise the old Swiss pavilion in the World Showcase.

SPACE MOUNTAIN
太空山
ZZ187F41A8.jpg

The new and improved Space Mountain will be given an upgrade to match the rest of Shanghai’s neons Tomorrowland’s aesthetics as well as its technology.

Updates include a smoother and better track, and a virtual queue where guests can wait by playing retro arcade games as well as modern, advanced one.

The new ride goes upside down via corkscrews and loops, and features screens to immerse guests during takeoff.

BONUS: Hong Kong’s Disneyland is the next to receive an update to make it more similar to this.

Enchanted Tiki Room Adventure Isle

Added to the Adventure Isle land in Shanghai Disneyland will be Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, bringing the South Seas back to Shanghai's Adventureland. The Tiki Room will be updated to be a river ride through the Polynesian Islands replacing the not so well received Roaring Rapids ride.

Bonus
The Magic Kingdom could use this to plus the Tiki Room in the Adventureland expansion pad.

Nick Nebula's
Jungle Planet Rocket Cruise
hover_cycle_by_blastcut-d32fr3s.jpg

This exciting new ride in Shanghai Disneyland's Tomorrowland will utilize the ride system from Flight of Passage to create a new, exciting Intergalactic adventure version of the classic World Famous Jungle Cruise.

Guests board their Rocketcycles and follow their Skipper, the self-proclaimed famous space adventurer Nick Nebula, through a pun filled flight around an alien jungle planet with fantastic creatures, dazzling sights, attacks from alien headhunters, and the most exciting sight of all: THE BACKSIDE OF WATER!!!

While the ride itself is much more action packed, fast paced, and exciting than the classic attraction, Nick Nebula's cheesey sense of humor will bring the same corny charm from the original to this new experience.

-Bonus-

The ride will be cloned in Disney Studios Paris replacing the Armageddon stunt show next to the recently rethemed Gaurdians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout creating a Sci-fi Studios land to fill the traditional sci-fi void left by Discoveryland's Jules Verne approach in their kingdom park and the void of being the only kingdom park without a Jungle Cruise other than Shanghai.

Topsy Turvy Wonderland
We are all mad here OSP #2 .jpg

Replacing the Alice in Wonderland maze in Shanghai's Fantasy land will be an updated version of the Alice in Wonderland dark ride from Disneyland in California. Taking a darker look at the trip down the rabbit hole we will follow Alice throughout the weird and dizzying paths of Wonderland on a slow moving indoor coaster with spinning tea cup seats similar to Primeval Whirl. This ride will go through the growing and shrinking of Alice with use of proportional props and lend a more psychedelic view of the world with lots of moving elements and black-light reactive colors.

Bonus: This ride will also be placed in Disney Paris to replace the Alice maze there as well.
