I LOVE HOW THE CAST MEMBERS AND CHARACTERS INTERACT WITH GUESTS. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, WE TOOK OUR 3 YEAR OLD NIECE AND AS WE WERE COMING OUT OF THE CHINA PAVILLION AND THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND, A CASTMEMBER WALKED UP TO MY NIECE AND ASKED IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO MEET MULAN...I LOOKED UP AND THERE SHE WAS! MULAN IS MY FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE AND WE SPENT ROUGHLY 20 MINS. WITH HER JUST TALKING AND HAVING PICS MADE...IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING SEEING MY NIECE'S REACTION! SHE LOVED IT! SHE FELT SO SPECIAL BEING THE ONLY ONE THERE. WE SAW HER (MULAN) AGAIN THAT AFTERNOON AND SHE REMEMBERED MY NIECES NAME! I WAS AMAZED!!!!!!! HAVING SEEN WHO KNOWS HOW MANY KIDS, BUT SHE REMEMBERED HER NAME! I GUESS IT'S TRUE...IT IS THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LEAVE IN 8 DAYS TO GO BACK!!!:sohappy:

I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!

LOOOOOOUD NOISES!

The responsibility shouldn't be on the guests to just "look past" poor service. If Disney wants to continue being thought of as the "Happiest Place on Earth", then they should have more accountability for CMs who aren't up to the job of making their guests' vacation experience enjoyable and special. It's not the guests' responsibility to uphold Disney's image and reputation by having to "look past" unacceptable behavior just because a particular CM happens to be having a bad day, or can't hack doing the job they willingly accepted and are being paid to do.

This is not about looking past poor service but bad experiences. I will not put up with poor service but I will not let it ruin my experience, make sense to anyone or just me?

ANYWAY, this is a thread relating to positive experience. Sorry if I started anything to rekindle an old flame with anyone.

Like so many others, the hardest thing about posting this is where to begin. Unfortunately, my first Disney trip was just after I turned 33. I had just gotten divorced, my daughter was 9. I've loved Disney movies all my life and was excited but had absolutely no clue how my life was about to he changed. The first really memorable thing I think of is visiting Minnie's house. There were 2 women pusing a woman (she HAD to be well over 90) in a reclining wheelchair. Minnie came over to her and touched her face and held her hand.... this angel just had tears streaming down her cheeks... it was one of the most magical/beautiful/special things I had ever seen. So, we went home and my next trip was just over a year later. My father passed away and we were coming to Disneyland for New Years Eve. We felt like as awful as the year had been, we wanted something awesome to bring in the New Year. The very first day going into the park is when I realized how much a part of me the whole thing was. We got through the turnstiles and I just started bawling. It's true... "Here You Leave Today and Enter the World of Yesterday Tomorrow and Fantasy". Every trip, my first stop always has to be MK. You go under the RR tracks and come out on Main Street. The Music, the buildings, the various modes of transportation; everything welcoming you back home. Sometimes you're greeted by old friends; Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale. Finally you make your way to the hub where you see that castle at the end of the street. Now that you've made it, you wish that time could stop, even if only briefly just so you can keep that moment in time where, for me, I am at the place where I am truly happiest.

Had to make me cry huh??.....great story!!! Great place!

I love all of Disney and have a true passion for Disney.

If you are ever on Main Street and see someone "skipping" down MainStreet, and waving to all the cast members or buying Mickey Balloons and handing them out as the kids wait for parades, thats me..
Wishing all a Magical Day!

On our last trip, my family and I were waiting to enter at MK and just before Mickey arrived via the Disney Express, a cast member handed me
"Pixie Dust" I cried as I threw it in the air at Mickey.

Just Magical...No Place Like it....:sohappy:

Since my first trip in 1974 with my family I have loved Disney! All of the characters, movies, songs, and more have touched my heart and remain there. I have been back to The Most Magical Place on Earth many times with my children, making lots of happy memories:)
This past November, DH & I celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary at Disney's Narccoossee's. One of the most special moments for me was watching "WISHES" (with a complimentary glass of Champagne & Strawberries) with the person who means the world to me:kiss:
Truly Magical!

Haha yay! I made a thread that somewhat succeeded in being positive. :ROFLOL:

We love Disney! Do we dwell on Disney 24/7! No, because unfortunately life interferes and that's why going to Disney is an awesome experience. We don't know when we are there if CM's are tired of me and my family. They make us think they've been waiting for us to arrive. We get the impression that the red carpet has been rolled out and pixie dust has been sprinkled just for us!

Yes, Disney is an extremely positive experience for MOST guests. If it were not, Steve would just have to shut down WDWMAGIC. But he's a pretty smart man and knows that there is much more positive than negative and that we are waiting to share it all with each other.

Maybe some here should take a look over on page 4 of this forum at the hilarious 'Party Pooper @ WDW' thread(Debbie Downer at Disney video:cry:)

I'm glad this thread was started because it has just re-energized me to gear up for our upcoming trip. :sohappy:

Disney is our favorite pass time. That's all we listen to in the car, on the weekends we are listening to Live 365 for or Disney fix. Most of the photos are the house our Disney, the office is all decorated in the Disney theme. Along with the car, antenna bobber, license plate, magnet, and window cling. People tell me, it puts them in a happy place when they are parked around me. Yes, it is Disney 24/7 in our house too!!!!!!!!!!Our most favorite time at Disney when we opened the MK and MGM. We got our photos taken, a certificate and went backstage and got a ride on the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster before the park was opened. WE LOVE DISNEY!!!!!How can you not? Everyone needs a piece of the MAGIC in their life at some point.:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

I agree with the whole escapism thing. It's a chance to get away from the real world for however long you are there for. In reality though, the "escape" happens from the moment you book the trip (that's when the planning, ADRs, discussing, more planning, etc begins). It is a lot of fun just doing that. Add kids into the mix and the excitement just increases.:sohappy:

Please show me where someone said, "you shouldn't have fun at Disney."

Because honestly, I don't know anyone who feels like that. But turning a blind eye to anything that is wrong isn't helping the company at all.

:sohappy: Exactly!! It's always funny to me how even though Disney CMs have standards that are such a huge part of the guest experience, and about making the Disney culture what it is, fans here are so quick to come to the defense of any CM who is NOT upholding those standards. If you love Disney (which I do), shouldn't you be concerned when Disney is paying people who are clearly not practicing the standards that are so much about the very thing we love about the place? After all, CMs with a bad attitude, and who provide poor service are the people who make Disney look bad, not the other way around. Shouldn't that concern someone who claims to love Disney? I think just turning a blind eye to it (or worse, DEFENDING the behavior) is being disloyal to what we love about Disney.

Hmmm... how do I put this?

I came into work today at 6 am. A guest come down to the front desk, cursed at me over something that isn't my fault, left in a fit without accepting my apologies, came back yelled at me, then my superior (but not boss) and then the GM of out hotel. He called us liars and said we were the worst hotel he's ever stayed in. 2 hours later, I got an e-mail from Disney saying I had been accepted into the college program. My day has been the best! I have been giddy all day and not a single other thing can bring me down. I am so happy that I will get to move down there and live Disney. It turely means the world to me.

You sound like a true professional who is an example of precisely the type of employee that any company would be fortunate to have represent them. That kind of approach and attitude (especially in this economy) will take you far! :sohappy:

Unfortunately, the way so many Disney CMs would have handled that situation is they would have been rude to all the other guests for the rest of the day, and if one of those guests was a Disney fan who came on here to vent about it, everyone would jump down the person's throat accusing them of being "negative" and "hating Disney".

Telling someone what is or isn’t their responsibility on their own vacation as to how they have a good time can be little else.

What I said (word for word) was this: "The responsibility shouldn't be on the guest to just 'look past' poor service."

Somehow you interpreted that to mean that I was "telling someone what is or isn't their responsibilty on their own vacation". Hmmmm... Um.... Okay. :hammer:

Dwelling on something that is wrong to the exclusion of what is wonderful doesn't help the guest either.

So if someone complains about poor service they had, you automatically assume that person is "dwelling" on it "at the exclusion of what is wonderful"??

I agree with Sir Goofy that when we let Disney know what is wrong, we're helping them to maintain their brand and their level of service that has made them so legendary.

Personally, if I got rude treatment from a CM, I'd want to let Disney know about it so that other guests wouldn't have to experience the same thing from that CM. If others want to just "look past it" and allow the CM to treat other guests badly (and hurt Disney's image in the process), that's their perogative. Personally, I would consider that kind of selfish. But hey, it's their vacation right? All that matters is that they have a good time I guess.

No actually, you were who I was referring to as "dwelling".

Fact is you continually insist on jumping into threads that are started with the intent of accentuating the positive aspects and interjecting your tripe about how everything is not perfect at WDW. Get over yourself, nobody here wants to hear it.

I have discussed in various threads here circumstances where I complained to a Manager or to GR about something that bothered me, but in a thread that is asking for what is positive, I like to do just that, dwell on the positive. Posting things that are contrary to the stated theme of a thread is just troll behaviour.

So making personal attacks toward another member (and there's no doubt that's exactly what you're doing in this post) isn't making the thread negative?

Despite what you might believe, my intent is to contribute to the discussion. With any discussion, there is the risk that others may not agree with your opinion. That doesn't make your opinion "negative".

If my posts upset you, especially to the degree that you allow them to keep you from getting out of a thread what you want to get out of it, then perhaps you could use the "ignore" feature. You won't hurt my feelings, trust me. In nearly every thread, you seem to enjoy attacking my posts and opinions, and calling me names (How old are you anyway??). It's not the other way around.

Hmmm.. let me think..

I love the fact that I can go down there and I am nolonger an adult for an entire week....And no one cares if you aren't acting like one..Not to mention that you can go down there and everything is taken care of. Including food. Speaking from someone who has multiple allergies, it has always been hard for me to travel without having to worry if I am going to have to excuse myself before to long. So its absolutely wonderful to know I can go down there and not have to worry about an allergy attack.

Best memory, was probably when my husband and I were trying to set up our honeymoon. My husband was so anti Disney at the time that I had to beg and plead him to go....But by the second day, he was asking me when we were going to return!

He is now a proud Disneyholic like myself!:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:
