Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

I remember it hitting me when I was driving from JAX to Sarasota, about 6 months after my mother died. Something triggered a crying jag that lasted about 30 mins.
Very sorry to hear about your loss, and hope you had a good Christmas. I understand what you're going through.

Side note: Are you in Sarasota? My Grandfather used to live down there waaay back in the day. His house was not far from where Bee Ridge & Tuttle meet. I LOVE that whole area, and spent many fond memories alongside Siesta Key, Longboat Key, & Turtle beaches.

Never been (I don't think). Is that north of Longboat Key? I've heard the name & of the place, but don't think I've ever visited in person.

Another favorite spot is Fort DeSoto park about 45-min north of the Sarasota area; just south of Tampa. Have spent many-a-restful hours on a kayak there. :D

Yes - it's the north end of Longboat Key. My sister lives in Bradenton so we've spent a lot of time in that area too. Fort DeSoto is nice except we had a run-in with a family of raccoons there once....

They smelled our cooler and were actually taking cans of soda and dropping them to open them. It was in broad daylight, so we suspected they were probably rabid (or rabbit, or perhaps rabbis)

She died 6 years ago, so the scar tissue is pretty thick now. ;) I was just driving down for the weekend for a sporting event. I think it was the first time I had had any long period of uninterrupted time since her death - when I was at home I was busy so could distract myself from really thinking about my loss.

The regatta is actually in Bradenton, adjacent to I-75 at University Park. I go down at least once or twice a year.

Thanks Mom.
Care for a cookie?

I'll take a cookie!

I was a bit disappointed none of my friends made my favorite peanut butter cookies with hershey kiss on top in their Christmas cookie baskets. I would make them for myself - but then I would eat the entire batch - I like just getting one or two in a plate of cookies I don't eat. I need self control forced upon me. ;)

I'm purging the house of leftover Christmas desserts today - way too many sweets in the house!

On a related note, I've been online window shopping for a dress today for my son's wedding, and let me just say that there's a whole lot of ugly out there!
